  1. It kind of bothers me that I'm over 3 weeks out and have lost only 6 pounds since surgery. I feel no restriction and am not only hungry, I don't feel full after eating. I know it'll change, but I don't want to disappoint all the people that have been by my side during this journey.

    Wtf?

stephyd I needed to hear that because I'm at that 10 days post-op stage where you are hungry as heck and are scared of everything including being hungry, overeating, band slippage, etc. I figure if I got through 2 weeks of a pre-op liquid diet, surely to goodness I can exercise a little restraint and common sense until we start filling my band and taming the hunger beast, so to speak.
  3. I'm three days post-op and the pain from the surgery gas is starting to wane somewhat. I have a wife and a son who have been more than supportive and who'd like to see me hang around a few more years. My family health history and my many past failures from one diet to the next led me where I am today. I felt the right decision was made and I've lost about half of what I needed to lose to get to where I looked and felt my healthiest. I hope everyone reaches that point in their personal lives. Pray for me and I'll do the same for you. John
  4. SportProtein.com Their site sells powdered egg whites straight from the farm. 1 scoop equals 50 calories and 12 grams of Protein. It mixes great in soups and dishes and it doesn't have that crappy grainy taste that unflavored soy and whey protein powders have. Took me forever to find something that wasn't chocolate or vanilla flavored so I could add it to everyday foods.

    preop diet day 2

Get out of the house. It doesn't matter if you just go stand in the front yard or something, get out. I found the hunger was pretty bad if I stayed cooped up inside, but I was able to ignore it when I got out of the house. Maybe not ignore it, but you aren't in the same building with your refrigerator :crying:

    Better late than never

I should have started this earlier, but I figured now was as good a time to start as any. I went in 8 months ago for an information seminar and am now 3 days post-op. My initial weight for my 6'5" frame was 342 and I am down to 298 as we speak. I've experienced a lot of what others have experienced such as nausea after the anesthesia wore off and chest pain from the body allowing the gas to escape. If that part will ever pass, I'll be in great shape. I was hurting so badly that my Dr. put me in a room overnight for observation just to be on the safe side and, to be honest, if it weren't for that, I could have gone home the same day as surgery. I'm glad I didn't and I feel that the right decision was made all the way around. The incision site is pain-free as is the incision where the camera was inserted. My surgeon performed the single incision version, so I'm not cut in 4 or 5 different places. My goal weight is 250. That is where I felt and looked my best and I feel confident that I'll see it again. I'll be glad to answer questions as I have just as many to ask. I'll lurk here a bit reading, but don't hesitate to IM me if you want a one on one conversation. Good luck to everyone thinking about doing this and God Bless those who've already taken the big step and had it done. For me, I feel the right decision was made for my circumstances and you will find your path as well. John
