Although swimming/water aerobics would be the best, you might consider using an elliptical machine instead of walking. That would be non-impact and it's about as close to walking/running as you can get. Best of luck to you!

How do i get started? I'm ready for a life change!!
JuneAct2 replied to Pink101's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was self pay, too. I went through TLCEdge in Plano. The staff was very friendly and supportive. They took care of setting up all my appointments. I went in on Oct. 21 and had my surgery on Nov. 6! I didn't go to a regular seminar. They have a "one on one" orientation available. My cost to them was $9990. The only other expense I had was the psych evaluation. It was $365, and I could have gotten my insurance to cover that but decided not to deal with the hassles. Several of the women there have been banded so they understand our struggle. Oh, and the price includes 6 fills in the first 12 months. I have had one fill so far and I am scheduled for my second one on Jan 15th. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I know alot of people have had good experiences going to Mexico, but I was concerned about finding a doctor for aftercare. Some of them won't touch a patient who were banded in Mexico. Do your research! Best of luck to you! -

What is the deal?
JuneAct2 replied to amrcngrl1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
8 lbs in 2 days sounds like water retention to me. Make sure you're not overloading on sodium, and drink as much water as possible. Also, count your calories for a few days to see what's really going in. My weight loss stalled when I started on mushies (at 3 weeks post op) and only this week (6 weeks out) started to drop again. Be patient with yourself during this healing time, and be sure to have an eating plan in place because until you get fills and get restriction you WILL be hungry. -
Miracle cure for constipation...at least for me

One quick suggestion - if the apricots are too tough you can pour a small amount of hot/boiling water on them and let them soack for a few minutes. That will make chewing and swallowing alot easier. -
I have a really bad stomach flu. Any ideas about what to do abou the throwing up?

Call your doctor. Ask about getting an un-fill so you don't damage your band/stomach. Also, ask about something for nausea. Hope you are feeling better soon. -

Maybe you could try this to get started: 8 Minutes in the Morning - Yahoo! Health I am going to try it when I get back to real food. I am still on liquids for another week, so I haven't alot of energy right now. Good luck to you. -

Staples vs. stitches vs. glue?
JuneAct2 replied to trayrenee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't stress about it:thumbup:...Ask your doctor? But, remember that this surgery isn't about stitches and staples...it's about getting your life back and being the healthiest YOU you can be. I wish you all the best. -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
JuneAct2 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a done deal! I was banded 11/6/08. I am amazed at how well I do feel. I was a little queasy coming out of the anesthesia, but no real nausea. Thank God! I've not been hungry. I do have the gas pains, but they're not horrible yet. The worst part for me is being still. I have so much I want to do, and I know I have to rest and recuperate, but it's hard for me. My dr. changed my diet from clear liquid x 3 days to one week. Then full liquid for 1 week, pureed soft foods for 1 week, then what ever I tolerate after that. So, for me it's been a really good experience. Best of luck to all of my fellow bandsters. -

I didnt get a small chili bc the small looked really tiny and didnt think it would fill me up. Just a thought...Make it a personal rule to ALWAYS order the smallest size. You can always have a snack later if you are still really hungry. Best of luck to you. -
My insurance doesn't cover LapBand, so I am self pay. I went for my first visit/orientation on 10/21/08 and I will be banded this Thursday, 11/06/08. I think a lot depends on if you're using insurance, and how quickly appointments can be set. I was "done" thinking about it and READY to go! So, I told them I wanted to do it ASAP.

I'm on day 4 of a 13 day ALL liquid pre-op diet, so I can sympathize with you. I can have 6 protein shakes per day, and all the FF broth, FF popsicles, and FF jello I want; plus 64 oz minimum of water. I am surviving by SCHEDULING my shakes every 3 hours (first one at 6 am, last one at 9 pm). I sip water constantly, and fill in between shakes with the other things. By planning and KNOWING when you'll have the next "meal" you can break your day into manageable segments. This is by no means easy, but it will be well worth it in the long run!! Good luck to you.
