Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Taps, when you're done with your yard, wanna come work on mine?! Oh, wait! You're is going to be a career! :cool2: Just kidding! I love working in the yard, too, but my husband did landscape work for years and there's nothing left to do in our yard! If you don't mind my asking, taps, where do you live?

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Girl, you're going to have to make yourself get out there! Once you do it the first time, you'll do it again! I have weeks like that, too, where I just don't give a crap about getting up and doing anything! Luckily, the next week I'll at least do something, then it builds from there. I know what you mean about "feeling normal". I'm excited that I walk normal and don't waddle. I don't pass out trying to tie my shoes. And, I have so much more energy. Stick with it! You'll be in that 12/14 before you know it!
  3. I have to have the lidocaine. The needle doesn't hurt going through the skin, but between there and the port it's excruciating!! I have either an irritated nerve, or scar tissue across the top of my port. Pain shoots all the way to my toes! I won't get a fill without it!!!

    someone please help me

I've never thought my band would stop hunger. I get hungry...when I wake up; then again around lunch time; and at dinner time. If I've worked out pretty hard, I'll feel hungry in between. The band helps you feel full on less food. It won't help you make the right choices. And, it won't stop head hunger! Head hunger is what you feel when you go to the movies and think you HAVE to have popcorn. Or you walk by the frig and sightsee, just because it's there. It's not REAL hunger. Now, to get back on track, I'd suggest you plan your meals. Then I first went on the pre-op diet I could have 6 protein shakes per day. I scheduled them 3 hours apart starting at 6am and ending at 9pm. Having that timeframe to look at made it easier to stick to the program. Write down what you eat. Schedule meals and/or snacks regularly throughout the day. Drink plenty of water. It will help with hunger. Knowing how many calories you're getting will help you decide whether you want that "snack food". And, occasionally you can figure that snack food into your daily calories. I've been told it takes about 3 weeks to establish a new habit. Commit to 3 weeks and I believe you will see a drop in your weight and a change in your attitude. This is the same advice I'd give my own daughter and she's the same age as you. I wish you the best of luck.

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Welcome Kimaly! Feel free to jump in at any time. Post your workouts, no matter how big or small. If we can help, we will! Got DH back to the pool. He's looking really hot now! Can't tell him that...I couldn't live with him!! We're swimming 7 laps 3 nights a week right now. I swim on Friday mornings, too, because it's adults only. We're trying to get in shape for vacation in June. Tomorrow I have to hit the elliptical and some weights. I'm kind of slacking there because I enjoy the swimming more. Taps, you're my hero! Walking to work every day! Great job!
  6. Wow! I haven't looked at this for a while... better update mine!!! Today is 6 month bandiversary. I'm at 158!!! Over halfway to goal!!!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Hey! I just looked at the calendar, and it's my 6 month bandiversary! I'm down over 40 lbs. (over halfway to goal). I've gone from a size 18 to a size 10. I can go 45 minutes on the elliptical. I can swim about 75m without stopping. I have a whole new life ahead of me now that I wouldn't have had without my band. Life is good!

Good for you, Debbie! Getting on the treadmill after a nap would be HARD for me! But, it sounds like you needed the rest. I'm fortunate that I can't eat a whole hamburger anymore. I get full on less than half!!! Yea!! The Cinco de Mayo food would do me in. I'd be throwing my lunch in the trash and grazing off the spread. I love to sample other people's food.

    What NOT to eat!???

Most likely they will tell you to eat protein first, then veggies, then carbs at each meal. Take small bites and chew your food to mush before you try to swallow. If you do that you should have few problems with anything. The only foods I've had problems with were rice, and dry chicken. Your doctor or nutritionist should go over an eating plan with you before surgery. If not, ask them. Good luck to you.

    Anyone Banded is Dallas, TX

I went through TLCEdge in Plano. My surgeon was Victor Gonzalez. He was great. He was patient. He answered all my questions. His office staff was very helpful. I would recommend him to family and friends. However, if memory serves, Dr. Kim may be one of the surgeons they use. Don't hold me to that, though! I go back to TLCEdge for my fills. Turn around time for appointments is great! The longest I've had to wait was about 7 minutes. Most of the time I'm in within a couple of minutes. The staff is absolutely wonderful. You can go to a group seminar with them, or schedule a one-on-one seminar. I was self pay so I went for the private seminar. My first meeting with them was October 21, 2008 and I had surgery November 6, 2008. The website is www.tlcedge.com. Click on surgical weightloss. Best of luck to you!

    Scale not moving advice please

Libby is right! You're not eating enough calories. Go to one of the websites that track your intake. I use the daily plate on www.livestrong.com. I can input my food, water, and exercise and know exactly what I need to do. Either eat more, or less, or differently. It has a pie chart that shows fat/protein/carbs. When you input your exercise and activity level, it will tell you how many calories to eat. Also, be patient. I know you're ready to be slim and fit, but this isn't a race! I found I lose 5 lbs, then plateau for 10-14 days, then lose again. You're doing great!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Do you have a pedometer? If you walk alot for work then you can count it as extra credit! It won't replace a workout, but every step counts.
  13. If you can go to Dallas. TLCEdge has a cash price of $9990. I went through them, and I have no regrets. They are really great. Their website is www.tlcedge.com Click on surgical weight loss. Good luck.
  14. During the initial post op phase, you will be on liquids, then mushies. After that you will be able to eat just about any food you ate before. Once you get restriction, you will find out the foods that just don't go down as well. If I eat slowly, and chew thoroughly, I can eat anything; just not as much. I enjoy cooking meals more now than ever because I know I'll eat a small portion and put the rest away. I also get more creative. My theory is that if I can only eat a few bites of something, then I want those to be full of flavor, not boring.

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope everyone had a good weekend. I have officially passed the 40 lb. mark! And, I'm officially NOT obese anymore! I've been marking my weight on the livestrong.com website, and it shows a graph of the weight loss. I see a pattern. I lose 5 lbs, then hold steady for a couple of weeks, then drop 5 more. I can live with this. Got DH back to the pool for laps yesterday. We were both tired, so we only did 5 laps, but it's better than nothing. Check out the "8 minutes in the morning" workout. If nothing else it will help tone you up and it does count as a workout! 8 Minutes in the Morning - Yahoo! Health Ya'll get out there and move!!!

    Dizzy and Lightheaded

I haven't looked at Flintstone's in years, but One A Day makes a chewable. I've had those for breakfast for the past 6 months!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Hey, that's great! You get your exercise in first thing in the morning! Almost makes me wish I still worked downtown. I live in a small town, and the walk to my office was 30 minutes. I did it a couple of times...it rained both times at quitting time so I had to walk home in the rain!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Penney, go back to the band basics and start over. You still have the band, and you didn't mention any problems with it. Talk to your doctor. Work to find the reason you haven't lost, and try to fix it. Find a swimming pool. or for that matter a big hot tub will work. In the swimming pool, just swim. In the hot tub you can hold the edge and kick your feet. I know this doesn't sound ideal, but it's a place to start. I wish you the best of luck.

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

My poor little dog only weighs 4 lbs. Once around the block and she'd blow away!! Hey, you walked. It doesn't matter if you couldnt' do the whole thing. You did something! And, I agree. After your extended walk you should take the day off. Your muscles need time to rest and repair. That's where you build strength. I went 30 minutes on the elliptical yesterday, and then went swimming with DH last night for 30 minutes! He's decided that however many laps I do, he's doing one more! I did 7 last night. Won't get to the gym tonight. We have friends coming to stay with us overnight. Have a great day!
  21. Thank you! You're my HERO!!!!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Taps, sounds like you got a good workout all weekend. I love gardening, but I've run out of places to put in plants. We're holding off on our backyard because we've decided NOT to build a house and just add on to the one we have at some point. If I start putting in plants, DH will decide we don't need the extra room. I think walking to work in the rain qualifies as a good workout, too. If you don't make the Y this evening, you're off the hook! Have a great day!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

This forum is hard to read with the white background! I'm so aggravated! I was very careful with what I ate all weekend. Got up early Sunday morning and walked 3 laps at the park. 1.8 miles! Then I came home and push mowed my yard, then riding mowed another yard, loaded junk, hauled it to the dump, lost my dog and spent a half hour looking for her. Then when I found her she was spooked and took off running. I ran another half mile trying to catch the little witch! After all that I talked my husband into going to the pool with me to swim laps. He ran into a buddy so I swam extra laps while they were talking. 7 laps! So, I'm feeling really good about all this, until I get up this morning and GAINED a pound! I worked my tail off yesterday. At least I could have stayed the same!!!!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Welcome, Slim! Good for you, walking on your lunch hour! And, the steps are a plus! Great for the backside! My lunch break is too short to do anything but eat my food! As for eating before or after, I cannot get food down right after I work out. My PA where I get my fills told me to eat a Protein bar about 30 minutes before I exercise. Some days I do, but mostly I forget!
