I am allergic to lortab/vicodin and the like, so I had darvocet pills. You can get darvocet made into a suspension, but it's expensive. The pharmacist told me to crush them up and mix with hershey's chocolate syrup. It wasn't bad at all.

Oh girl, you WIN! That is hard work! My DH did landscaping as a side job when we first met. I helped him lay sod on a yard and I couldn't walk for 2 days afterwards! I'd like to think I could do it now, but I won't be volunteering for it any time soon. I'm going to swim tonight with or without DH. I feel the need to be in the water. Trying for 10 laps! We'll see.

Okay people, if you're not posting, you are probably NOT working out!!! I'd really like to see all of you back here this week! I haven't been swimming all week due to babysitting whiny DH with his shoulder. But, I have done 30 min. on the elliptical almost every day. I'm trying to bump up the resistance a little at a time. My weight loss is stalled right now, but I feel "tighter", like I'm toning up! I'll take what I can get! Everyone have a great day!!

It really doesn't matter if you weigh once a month, once a week, or 10 times per day. It's your attitude toward the scale that makes the difference. If weighing gets you "down", then don't do it! I am so excited about my weight loss that I get on the scale every time I walk by it!!! I KNOW I'll never see those numbers again!!! :hurray:It's a great reminder that I'm not OBESE anymore!! And in a very few months I won't even be overweight anymore!! So, keep this in mind when you step on the scale and it doesn't say what you want it to...at least it's NOT saying what it once did!!!

Help please! Nightime eating out of control
JuneAct2 replied to Bandana's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just read through these posts and yours kept jumping out at me. There's nothing in the world wrong with eating at night when you're hungry. With that in mind, go over to www.livestrong.com and track your food on the daily plate. I don't agree that eating late will make you gain weight, unless you've already eaten too many calories during the day. If you plan your meals according to when you "can" eat, then you won't overshoot your calorie goal. You may find that you're not eating ENOUGH. I eat most of my calories after 3 pm because my band is tight in the mornings. I hope this helps in some way. -
You've had a ROUGH year! But, weight-wise, you're doing great! With all you've been through you really haven't focused on yourself, and NOW is the time to do that. One idea would be to start over. Re-read your info from the doctor. Go back to the beginning diet, or do the 5 day pouch test, as a kickstart. Measure your food for a couple of weeks, and track your intake. Be sure you're drinking enough water. Get really focused on what goes in. After a couple of weeks, you'll be back on track and feel better. I wish I could help you with the "activity buddy", but I'm too far away. Check around and find some kind of class; yoga, pilates, kickboxing, any type of group thing where you can meet people who are active. See if you can find a running club to join. I hope this helps.

Debbie, That is AWESOME! No meds! Keep up the good work!!

Yoco, that's a great idea! I have a dog, but she's only 5 lbs, so I'd have to carry her. Even then, she wouldn't be much of a workout!! HA! I went to my old gym today to lift weights and they were playing sad depressing music. So, I'm headed to my new gym (yes, I am signed up at 2 gyms) with a workout buddy to do my cardio. Then I'm going to try to talk DH into swimming tonight. His shoulder is still hurting so he might just go for moral support! Everyone have a good evening!

Help! Help! Need Some Advice
JuneAct2 replied to m1971jimenez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Relax! You're 11 weeks out, and you've lost 19 lbs. What's wrong with that?!!! That's over a pound and a half per week!!! I know you're excited and ready to get the weight loss going, but this is not "the biggest loser". You can't expect to have 4-5 lbs losses every week. If you're losing 1-2 lbs per week, be happy! You're right on target! I don't lose consistently. I will drop 5 lbs, then stall for a couple of weeks, then lose another 5. It's just the way my body works. You'll figure out how yours works as you get further out from surgery. However, as someone else said, track your food. I use the daily plate on www.livestrong.com! It keeps me on track, and lets me know when I'm not eating ENOUGH! Good luck to you. -
wstorms, some days I cuss all the way, too! But, I feel better after I get done! It's funny...we can't remember from day to day how good we'll feel after our workout. It's like every day we head into it thinking "ugh, I don't wanna"!! You're doing great! Down 48 lbs without a fill?! That's awesome! You go girl!

Taps, that's funny about the "Y" calling you! Cleaning counts as exercise. You're doing great! Glouc, good for you! If I set the elliptical on random, I'd die and fall off after 5 minutes! And, I know what you mean about feeling exposed. I hate putting my weight in when someone is next to me, and you can't "lie" because you know they're thinking "yeah, right!" I go to the machine farthest away from everyone. I also won't lift weights at the gym because I'm such a wimp. They're all lifting 50 and 100 lbs. and I'm liftin little 5lb weights. No, thanks. I'll do my lifting at home! Well, DH got out of swimming! I took him to the doctor today and he has bursitis in his shoulder. Doc gave him an injection and tons of meds to take. He's supposed to rest his shoulder for a week or so! The big wuss! I think I'll get him a kickboard and still make him work his legs! Have a great night everyone!

I'm up to my neck in work! I have a job that has to be turned in Thursday so I'm swamped! No gym tonight...watching Biggest Loser! Michelle-Good report on the dog! I'm so glad she gets to go with you. Slim - I hate the itching!!!! It's from an increase in circulation near the skin surface. I asked my doctor once about it. But, it let's you know things are working!

I agree! Jerry looks so OLD! My dad is 78 and doesn't look as old as Jerry! Nicole almost has Jillian's arms! She rocks!

I feel nothing..confusing
JuneAct2 replied to PUDGY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctors office and ask them what they want you to eat. You're probably still on mushies since you're only about 3 weeks out. This is what I eat usually. First thing in the morning I have a Protein shake (Atkins) because I'm too tight for food that early. Then about 9 or 9:30 I'll have 4 oz. low fat cottage cheese. lunch is usually a couple oz. of whatever meat we had for dinner the night before along with 3-4 oz. veggies. Then in the afternoon I'll either drink a Protein Shake or have a Protein Bar (drs orders due to exercise regimen). Dinner is usually lean protein (meat) and veggies or salad. If I get hungry later, I'll have cheddar cheese or cottage cheese. If I get a craving for something, I eat it. I found that if I try NOT to eat it I'll consume way more calories than if I'd eaten it in the first place. I hope this helps. -
Help! 10 days post op, weight loss stoped and creaping up? What to do? Eat?
JuneAct2 replied to rosstheboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax! Be patient! Let yourself heal! The first 6 weeks you should NOT worry about gaining or losing. Just follow your doctors orders exactly. Once the band has healed in place, and you're following your diet and exercise program, the weight will come off. Consider this. Your body has been through a shock! :confused:For years you've given it anything it wanted, and life was good! then BAM! you forced it to go on liquids only! What were you thinking?! Then you let some nut cut on you and put a choke collar on your stomach! Now you're giving it MORE liquids! It's starting to ask "Where's the beef?!!!" And, the mashed potatoes, and the cheeseburgers?!!! (At least, that's what mine was asking!) Your body will adjust to the new rules, but it takes a few weeks. In the meantime, follow the plan. Drink your water, And exercise! Best of luck to you! -
Optifast, medifast, other protein shakes...so many!
JuneAct2 replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the Atkins shakes at Wal-mart. They're cheaper there. Also, CVS, Walgreen's Sav-on...alot of pharmacies have them. The Wal-mart in my town doesn't carry the Mocha Latte so I have to go to the next town to get them. I buy 2-3 weeks worth when I go. You might be able to get your local WM to order the ones you want, to come in at the store, and not charge you the shipping. -
Take the dog to the vet! That's the best way to NOT hurt her. My little munchkin is only 5 months old, and she weighs 4.7 lbs! She "rides" with me if I go walking, but she can't keep up. But then, she'll only weigh 6-8 lbs when she's full grown. OMG! I was feeling pretty cocky this weekend and I bought Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD! I watched the level one exercises and thought "this doesn't look too hard"...WRONG!! I was about to pass out even before I finished the warm up! I don't remember jumping jacks being that hard in junior high! I could do a couple of the push ups before I collapsed! I feel like such a wimp!! I hope all the mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day! And, have a great week!

Hey! We have that bike! It's a Screaming Eagle Fatboy! One Sweeet Ride!

I had to do 2 weeks of protein shakes, and yes, the first 3 days were horrible. I felt like I had the flu. Headaches, body aches, tired. BUT, by day 4 I felt a whole lot better and made it through the rest of the pre-op with no problems. Just be sure to drink lots of water. It will help. Hang in there, it will get better!

Same here...not necessarily defending your husbands, but keep in mind that, in some cases, as we got bigger, we put up a wall around us that told them loud and clear...Hands off! Our own body language put them off. My husband told me today that a year ago I wouldn't even let him turn on the lights in the bedroom, and now he has to keep the blinds closed because I never wear clothes! He said he always loved me no matter what, but I'm more approachable now. He tells me I'm a different person than I was a year ago! And, we're having more fun together than ever! I say talk to him. Get him to tell you the things about yourself that are different and better. I think you'll be surprised at his response! Or, he could just be a jerk! I hope not!

You're in the final stages of healing. Be patient. If you think you're eating too many calories, track them for a week or two. This will reassure you that you're eating the right amount. And, you won't be going so low that you stall your weight loss. I use the daily plate on www.livestrong.com. I can input my exercise, and what I eat, and it tells me how many more calories I need to eat for the day. I can also track my Water intake. Also, there's no substitute for exercise. Move it. Good luck to you.

Feeling a bit discouraged...
JuneAct2 replied to Foxxy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did your doctor give you a diet to follow? Or did he just say lose 8-10 lbs? If he gave you a diet to follow, do it! Without cheating! If he didn't tell you what to eat or drink, then this is what my doctor had me do. I could have up to 6 protein shakes per day, along with lots of water, and I could have sugar free jello and broth. But, try to stay away from the broth because it is usually too high in sodium. I lost 11 lbs in 8 days with this plan. But, I followed it TO THE LETTER! You really need to get a handle on this now, because post-op it is extremely important to follow your doctors diet. You can search the forum for more information on this. Good luck to you. -
Optifast, medifast, other protein shakes...so many!
JuneAct2 replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctors recommended Opti-fast, but also gave me a list. I tried the EAS brand, and it was too watery. I finally went with Atkins Advantage shakes. I liked them so much I still drink them for breakfast. If you try them, get the Dark Chocolate Royale, and the Mocha Latte. They taste the best. -
I've never had a problem with steri-strips, but years ago I had a lump removed from my breast. They used the wide stretchy foam-like tape from the center front around to the center of my back. I broke out in blisters under the tape that night. My best friend spent hours picking the tape out of the blisters! It was horrible! Something in the adhesive just doesn't agree with us! I've never heard of the maalox before, but calamine works.
