Post ops, please post your favorite meals.

I use the chocolate or vanilla Atkins shakes. They only have 1 carb, are high in protein, and I think they taste really good. I feel like it is a good start to the day and gives me the energy I need. -
I say no advertising....pull 'em out!!

My port is smack dab in my middle...about 4 inches above my belly button.

Breakfast: Atkin's chocolate shake (band feels too tight for food) and coffee of course. Lunch: chicken wings with blue cheese or a grilled chicken salad. If I am not full on chicken, then I love my homemade egg salad. Dinner: Fish with tarter sauce, avacado with lemon juice. Snack: Pork rinds or string cheese. -
EEK! I just had my first PB!!! (warning: gross!)

I had my first PB last week. I was eating Turkey (admittedly a bit overcooked). I only had about 5 small bites when the pain hit. Then I paced from the kitchen to the bathroom moaning like a moose in heat and spitting slime (thank god my husband loves me). Finally, after about 15 minutes, I went to the toilet, coughed and there appeared my chewed up turkey. I had immediate relief and was so happy :nervous -
I was told that corn was a no-no. I love the stuff. Just remember...it is very high in carbs!

I got my band one week earlier than you. Most of my weight loss was the 2 weeks pre-op and the 2 weeks post-op. My doc said that the average is around 2 lbs per week once you are on solids!

I am a Valentine's bandster fairly new to the site! 2/14/06 by Dr. Rehnke in St. Pete, FL. 51 lbs lost so far 341/289/179

All I can say is the rapid weight loss that I experienced in the 2 weeks pre and post op outweighed (no pun intended) the hunger and want to eat. I also believe, although not diagnosed with depression, that I was depressed before. Your confidence and happiness will really start to shine through once you see that scale get lower and lower. My bet is that you will be feeling better. The 2 weeks really goes by so quickly and just remember what you have to look forward to.

My doctors nurse was actually his first band patient. She holds the orientation pre-op. She said that she really doesn't feel like ever eating in the morning because her band is tight. By lunch time, after consuming fluids, she can eat and dinner she can eat. So, my understanding is that this is completely normal. I am very surprised that your Dr. thinks your nuts.

I was also self pay at a rate of $17,000.00. I never would be where I am now if I did not do this. This has changed me not only physically, but just as important, mentally. I would probably have gained even more weight instead of losing. It is a lot of money. The way that I looked at it is that it is the amount of a new car. My life and being around for my 6 month old is more important than a darn car. Be a little selfish. Do it for you. Good luck, you will succeed. I am living proof. :scared:

Try Dr. Earnest Rehnke in St. Pete. He did my band and Dr. Grossbard actually assisted in my surgery with him. They work out of different offices.

Great site...thanks!

I was just curious. I am fairly new to this site. How does slippage occur and how is it avoided? It is scary to me.

Is she jealous?? Kinda sounds that way to me. Dunno

I liked mashed cauliflower. Never would eat it before band. It is very much like mashed potatoes, but without all of the carbs! Boil cut up cauliflower until it is soft. Blend with butter, half and half (or sour cream), salt and pepper. You can put some cheese in it too!
-
Sure sounds like a possible sickly Gallbladder to me!! I am an Ultrasound Tech and also had mine out. The pain can be horrible!! Get it checked out before you mess with your band.
-
:think I am so sorry to hear your news. It truly has brought tears to my eyes. Mo is in my prayers!

Looking For Docs In Florida
prinnie replied to NEONATAL RN's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon was Dr Rehnke at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg. Orlando is not too far. POP Hospital was awarded the Bariatric Care Center of Excellence last year. Dr. Rehnke (pronounced Rankee) is awesome and so is the staff!
