  1. I got the wonderful band at the end of March, and have lost close to 40 pounds! My question is, when you lose a bunch a weight does it screw with your period? I have always been right on, but the last couple months I've notice I start a few days later than I normally would! Well this month I am over a week late! I don't think I'm prego, cause I had my tubes tide with after my last child 5 years ago! I just want to make sure this is what is going on! Please, any thoughts are welcome!!!!!!
  2. Thanks ladies for you kind words! I'm ready for this to happen, I'm ready to play with my kids more!
  3. Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I posted on here, maybe a year. Well good news, I've had my surgery date for a month now, and just got off the phone with Dr Kirshenbaum for our phone consult! We are taking our tax return and I'm getting my band, finally! This last year has been so hard, not knowing if we would be able to do it, or when we could afford it. But it's time! I'm kinda excited, but don't want to just yet. Not until I'm in his office and getting everything done. My question is, I want to get everything I need before my surgery that I need, any advice? I live in a small town, so if I need to order something, I would like to get it now! He was talking about vitamins, what kind does everyone take? I looked at the website that is attached to his, but how does it taste? Any advice would be welcomed!!!! Thank you ladies so much, can't wait to hear from you.

Back trouble, will this help with insurance?

Thank you so much for your help! I know getting the weight off will help! It's just hard to do when its hard to excersice and move! I'm gonna call my insurance today and find out again, what all I need to get this done! Thanks again!
  5. Let me fill you in a little about my past. I tried gettin my insurance to pay for lap band last year, well they denied me because my BMI wasn't high enough. So I've been trying my hardest to lost weight, and have acutally gained 15 pounds, how, I don't know! In that time have I had my back looked at. I've had accident when I was a kids, falling outta tree, off horses, ya know kid stuff. But this was the first year I've had back pain like this. I had it checked out and come to find out that my lower vertebrae(sp?) is slipped about 10%. They put me on Celebrex to help, which it did. Well last weekend went for a ride on my mule, and for some reason he reared up, and I flew off and landed on my tailbone hard, of course! Gimped around for a few days, but was doing really well, to the point where I was doing some light exercise! Until this morning, when I replanted some plants, and now its REALLY sore! I mean it hurts to stand and walk again! Do I dare go through all the heartache and emotions of trying to get my insurance to pay, just to get denied? Or should I just heal and keep trying to lose weight? My husbands work had a healthfair acouple days ago, so I went in and had my blood work done, I get that this next week. Any imput will help! Thank you so much for your time!!!

Back trouble, will this help with insurance?

I think my BMI is at 40, but just barely! And I had insulan resistants when I was at this weight after having my son, and then it went away after having my daughter! So thats why I went to the health fair at my hubbys work! I went to a chiro first, and told him all the problems I have, and all the things I've done, and that I was scared to death of him, but was desperate to get some relief! He tried to align me, I cried the whole time, it hurt so bad! He also told me if what he tried didn't work that he would do x-rays, and then send me else where! While paying for it out of pocket, cause they don't do insurance! So I didn't go back, I called the orthopedic. I saw a hip doctor(cause I thought it was to do with my hips!) and he's the one that said my disk was slipped, but he didn't do lower back and referred me to one of his colleeges that did non-surgical back problems! They wanted to give me a cortizon shot! I have always had backproblems, always, but I couldn't deal with having a shot to possible make it worse! I canceled my appt when I heard from several people that he was a quack and that he was gettin his license revoked!! I would rather deal with the pain, than to have that done! I don't know, these doctors are 1 hour drive north of me, and more orthopedic 1 hour and 30 mins drive south of me(I live in the mountains of wyoming, so we're in the middle of no where!) Its just at the frustrating point again, where I don't know where to turn, or what to do, or who to go to! But it's not gettin better! I just wish there was a big arrow to tell me where to go!
  7. PrtyAntOvrYt, I had the same problem 2 weeks ago!! Except they moved 1000 from checking into our saving, and then moved 950 from our account into another Wells Fargo account! I flipped out, because for one, we don't have that kinda money. Our little bank got bought out by Wells Fargo, and during all the changes I got an email that I thought was from them. Clicked on the stupid link, and we think it took me to a fake sight, and signed in! It all looked like Wells Fargo stuff! I had no idea, at least thats how we think they got all my info. They wouldn't have got it any other way! Then last week I got another call from the bank, just checking on things, and they said that who ever was doing this tried to get another 999! To bad for them, we closed both accounts so they couldn't get anymore! I think this is one of the worse and stressfull things I have every gone through, and everyone is getting the brunt of all my feelings! Its getting better, but some of our bills are all screwy from this! What a pain.
  8. I don't have a surgery date yet. we have to wait till we get taxes done, ususally around the end of Febuary. I just want to get all my ducks in a row. I have talk to them, just trying to figure some things out. If I could go now, I would, but we have acouple loans to pay off first. I remember how bad it is to drive down that way, but I havn't driven down there in over 8 years. Thats why I'm leaning towards my mom to drive, she nows how! My husband is not allowed to drive in the big citys, he like to run red lights:laugh:! We don't have any traffic lights in our town, and he was raised here, so you can only imagine how he drives!!
  9. I'm kinda thinking thats what will happen! Have my hubby stay at my parents with our 3 year old and have my mom take me! She wouldn't be so nervous about me afterwards! And I knew they wouldn't give me pills, must of had a red head moment!:tongue2: This makes me feel much better! I was off my pain meds after 2 days, cause they didn't feel like they were doing me any good, so I delt with the pain. And your right BellaPerdente, I won't have a baby to worry about, which kinda makes it even better! Thanks again for all your help, I'm not so worried any more! Just gotta hope the weather isn't bad so we can make the trip.:rolleyes2:
  10. PrtyAntOvrYt, thank you for your support! My mother in law lives in my town, the only thing I'm worried about is leaving the kids with her for to long! We could take our 3 year old with us, but then that 2 people my hubby would have to worry about! He's an old fashion guy, where he works, and I deal with the kids! So it's hard to see him taking care of my and our 3 year old coming home:smile:! My husband would be driving, because i don't know how soon i would be able to drive, so better safe than sorry! I guess i could just suck up the pain and deal with the drive, how well do the pain pills work:wink_smile:? I don't think we have anyone around here to do the fills, but i also wouldn't mind having to drive back to Dr. K for fills, gives me an excuse to get out of town and see my parents and old friends! Also was wondering about the pain. I've had 2 c-sections, and delt with the pain realy well. I know the lap band surgery is up higher, just wondering if anyone has gone through both, and how similar the pain is! I guess I'm just trying to figure out to many things at once and worry about everyone else, I don't want everyone to wait hand and foot on me!
  11. Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum for awhile now, and thought I would say hello! First of all, I live in Pinedale Wyoming, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I went to Jackon, which is 1 hour north of me, went through the whole insurance thing, and after being denied the 2nd time have decided to self pay(after taxes!!) I would love to go to Dr. K just from everything I've read and researching him! My problem is, i live around 7 hours away from him. My parents live in Cheyenne, so we can stay there after I'm ok to leave town! Thats an hour and half drive, on top of that it would be another 6 hours or so to my town, probably longer since after reading things, I would have to stop every hour or so and walk! On top of that, I have a 6 year old son in kindergarten, and a 3 year old daughter that is attached to my hip! Mother in law said she would watch them, but I get to thinking and it might be a week before my husband and I get back to rescue her(she's in her 60s) So I'm torn between going to a Dr. that I know is good(MY HEART SAYS YES), but way out of town, or go to the Dr. in Jackson and probably pay WAY more! Is there any suggestion for driving? Can't fly because it would cost 2-3 hundred each, husband and i, and hell why not just go to Jackson!! I just don't know what to do, and am frustrated!! Any info, suggestions would help! Thank you so much for your time!!!

    Insurance denial!

I guess i just need some advice on what to do next, or just to vent to people who have been where I am now. My insurance denied my wanting the lap band. I am 29, my bmi is 38.5, I'm 5'6", and weight 238, so I'm borderline. I'm as healthy as could be, which is why they are dening me. Don't get me wrong i'm glad I'm heathly, I'm just overweight, and sick of it. I was insulan resistant 3 years ago, but went away when I had my last child, so I'm ok on that part. The only thing wrong with me right now is I'm on Wellbutrin for depression. I have a family history with high blood preasure, high cholesteral, heart attacks, back problems. Both my parents are over weight, and thats how i came to know about the lap band. My mom was thinking about getting it done, but is scared because she has never had surgery before. I've got atleast 7 years documented Dr. notes of trying to lose weight, which I did 4 years or so ago, with the help of Phentamine, I lost 50lbs. The problem was as soon as i went off of it i gained 30lbs back, so I don't want to do diet pills anymore. I've tried different diet pills, Weight Watchers last year, for 6 months, and only lost 6lbs. My best friend did it with me and lost 40! I've done the atkins diet, the south beach diet, watch my calories and who knows what else. I married into a hunting family, so we hike around the mountains for 2 weeks hunting for elk, I'm a very active person. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, and for the last 10 or so years, have been trying to lose weight, I'm just over it. I don't know what to do next, I don't want to end up like my parents, and grow older and not be able to do the things I love. I don't want to miss out on playing with my children cause i can't breath and keep up. I just don't care, I guess. I need some words of advice or something to bring my spirit up or something. I don't get what i'm doing wrong. :smile2:

    Anyone else here from Wyoming?

Dreaming Skinny, did you have your surgery done in Jackson? If so, by who? I live in Pinedale, and I'm in the process of getting my insurance to approve through Dr. Balliros office. He seems really nice and there trying to do everything they can, but I'm still nervous about him. Guess just because of what he'l be doing! Let me know! Thanks

    Insurance denial!

Just a quick note, I did write a letter to my insurance explaining how if i don't get this done I'm gonna be having major health issues in the next year or two. And that this is my last resort, I don't have anything else to look forward to except getting sicker! I just hope they approve this time, if not I'm stuck!
