  1. Hi everyone, I have been researching Lap Banding for a long while now and have been in the mind set of "it's okay, I can do this on my own without help" but now realise it has to be just as bad going from diet to diet without any lasting success as it would be to be over weight. I love exercise, but my problem is trying to balance food intake and exercise. When I am not exercising I am fine, I have controlled portions of food and eating well, but when I am exercising my appetite increases dramatically. I try to limit my food intake and stick to regimented plans and I start to loose weight, then I slowly bring in the exercise and I loose control of everything. So, I am ready to admit that I need help and I have chosen Lap Banding as my first preference. I have tried appetite suspressants and find that the side effects are just dreadful - but while the short periods of time I have been able to go on them, it has been perfect as I could control my portions very easily and do the exercise. My doctor was not terribly receptive when I first mentioned banding, but I really have thought of it as a last resort. Not because of the procedure or any of the risks, but simply because I felt I did not really need that level of help. I am going for a referral on Monday and hoping to get into Dr Watson. Now I have really made up my mind (based on reading for hours the pros and cons), I feel really relieved and really can't wait to get the process underway. So after all of that (and gosh, it feels so good to actually get it off my chest!!) I just wanted to know if there are any Perth Lap Band people or country people coming to Perth who are just starting the process off? Would definately love to hear from anyone who would like to offer advice or recomendations on surgeons in the Perth area. Thanks Linda
