Congrats to you Wheetsin!:whoo: :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

Well, I don't know the correct answer, but by looking at the pictures, visually, I think that the first picture (heel/shoe even) look more appealing.

What a cool thing to hear!! Yea!!!!!:clap2:

Gross descriptions are OK. And, I know that everyone is different, but with enough individual descriptions, perhaps one of them will match what I will feel when the time comes.:nervous
-
Hmmm. Maybe I 'm missing something here. Why should your band doctor have anything to say about what your internist/pcp/gi specialist/etc., may have prescribed? It wouldn't even have even occurred to me to ask the LB surgeon about it:confused: .

This is our camping breakfasts. Instead of shaking, everyone squeezes and mushes it. I don't think it tastes quite the same as a pan omlet, but there's no dishes to wash and that counts for a lot.
-
P'Nut Thank you for such a thoughtful post. I for one truly appreciate it.

I have seen suggestions of drinking a little warm liquid before the first bite. Kinda' loosens things up. Might be worth a try.

I haven't been burping, but it definately is finding an alternative orafice! when I was at home recovering it was no problem. fart on!! But now that I am back at work, it's a little different. I have my own office, but it never fails that just after I let one rip, someone comes in. :second: I'm thinking of hanging a skull and crossbones on my door. :laugh :laugh

I like the idea of carrying my own "special" silverware. :hungry: And I like the idea of putting down my fork until I'm ready for the next bite. Before I was banded, before I even visited my surgeon's office, I practiced eating the bandster way. Not deliberately limiting quantity, etc., just chew, chew, chew, and not drinking during the meal. In one month, I lost 10 - count 'em 10 - pounds. :cheer2: Wasn't even trying to lose weight. I just wanted to see if I could do it. Even left part of a really really good hamburger at Red Robin. And didn't finish the unlimited fries. I'm still on liquids and really want to CHEW something!!

Nurse Weeks 3-4 are more mushie stage. What are you eating? They should be things you could eat if you didn't have teeth. It's supposed to be a gradual transition to solids. Don't rush too soon. I have a good list of soft foods that my Dr. gave me. I can give it to you if you want.

Nervous is normal. I was absolutely, positively sure this is what I wanted. I felt very calm. On the day before surgery, I couldn't talk coherently at work.(hope I didn't pay someone I shouldn't have :second: ). Blood pressure just before they wheeled me away was 20 points higher than normal. Yeah, nervous is normal. Food will be important - real important at first. I am thinking that eventually it will just be part of life - normal. Hang in there, and take the drugs!

Still hungry/think diet pills will help

Sounds like you need a fill. -
Seminole Baby! Your dr will let you have a fill only a (will be) two weeks out? :second: You don't have much of an appetite yet because your stomach is SWOLLEN!!! I don't think most surgeons will give fills until about 6 weeks out. And, please, please, take care of yourself and drink thin liquids for at least another week. Then start pureed food for a couple more weeks. THEN, soft foods for a couple of weeks. Please, talk to your Dr. You don't want to hurt your new stomach. You're making me worry.:speechles

They put a patch behind my ear before I left (out-patient). Don't know whether or not that did the trick, but I had no nausea.

I am passionate about counted cross stitch.

Stitchy - I love to work counted cross stitch. It's my passion.

I went back to work on Monday. I did pretty well, but around 2pm I started feeling sore and really tired. Went home. Took pain meds and slept for 3 hours. ON Tuesday, I stayed until 4pm and then went home. Things are improving. I told my co-workers today. We always have lunch together so they have noticed that my food is a little different now. So, I said it was time I shared what was going on. They had a lot of questions, but at least there was no opposition to having the band which is why I didn't tell them beforehand. One of the women said that her husband came home last night saying that his Dr. suggested the LapBand (he is really overweight). She really had a lot of questions. Later in the day, she asked about the scars, so I took her into my office and showed her my battle belly. Tomorrow, I go back to Dr office for a one-week check up.

I didn't tell anyone - not even my daughter and we are very close. She probably will be ticked off that I didn't tell her, but she will get over it. The only person that knew was DH ( well, he was paying for it). This was a difficult decision for me, and it was my decision alone. I didn't want any outside interference trying to sway me one way or the other. I personally don't care if anyone has hurt feelings that they weren't included. This is my life, my band. I'm now one week banded and finally told my co-workers. I'll tell the rest of the family in a day or so

Husband says "I don't think you should get the band"
Stitchy replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad to hear this, PeloRojo. It will be much easier to make your decision if you know you will be supported no matter what. My DH was the same way. He didn't want me to go through something so major, and he certainly played Devil's advocate, but also said "support you, no matter what." After I had the band, he told me he saw how difficult life was and now felt guilty for not insisting that I do something about my weight earlier (dieting - we didn't know about lapband at that time). I had to remind him that it wouldn't have done any good; that it probably would have caused arguments. Surgery or dieting - it had to be MY decision, not his. -
I went home the same day. It took me a little longer in the recovery room than most (like another hour), but the nurses watched me like hawks. I finally said "What do I have to do to get out of here?" Those were the magic words. They helped me get dressed and loaded into the van. I was so happy to be in my own recliner and drugged :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: Remember to take the drugs. No need to suffer unnecessarily.
-
Vicki I'm so happy to hear you are doing better. I know about the "stubborn gene." I'll be all over a family member to call the Dr., but ignore myself. I'm going to remember this thread for a long time.

This was my first day back at work, but I got way tired and came home to sleep. DH came home from work and found me in bed. I started to get up he said to lay back down. He "eyeballed" my profile said the tummy mountain wasn't as high.
