    2 weeks out

It's nearly 2 weeks since banding. I thought that I would bounce back sooner, but I'm still draggin my ass. I told my work that I could only work 1/2 days for a little while. My stomach starts to hurt and I am getting really tired in the afternoon. I still have an ache below my sternum, just above my port. I'm getting tired of it. Maybe if I were 30 years younger .....:cry I get to start mushies on Wednesday :clap2: :clap2:

Yes, I do. I haven't figured it out yet, and I 'm still on liquids. Maybe it will change when I start eating mushies on WEDNESDAY!!! :hungry:

Jim I held two different sizes of the Inamed band at the info seminar. My clinic puts the 10cm band on women and the larger one (I can't remember how long that one is) on men because typically men's stomachs are larger or thicker? They are complete rings. I think someone sent you a link to Inamed. IMO, if you live in the states, I would get the Inamed band because you will need fills and what if there is an emergency?

I was banded on May 9 and have lost 7 lbs in 13 days. I'm tickled PINK! I haven't bounced back as quickly as I thought I would. I went back to work 6 days after surgery, but I think I could have used another week. I decided to work only 1/2 days this week to get some rest. I'm having some pain right under my sternum. Maybe it's my liver complaining about being moved aside? Maybe this is all age related. I'll be 60 this month. I keep thinking if I was in my 30's I would recover sooner.

    How late can you eat?

I have a question about the number of meals and Water. We are supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day. We can't gulp the water; can only sip. We should not drink for 30 minutes before, during, or 1 hour after a meal. Stop drinking well before bedtime so you aren't up all night peeing. Now, eating 3 meals a day doesn't leave much time to get all that water down. How can you manage it with 6 meals?
  7. Things I was happy to have right away. Chewable Vitamins (like Flintstones), purchased my liquid pain meds ahead of time (ask Dr. for prescription), heating pad. Loose nightshirt (no waistbands). A small pillow to put between my knees at night another small pillow to stuff under my stomach (I'm a side sleeper). Remember that you are not going to be bedridden. You can go out to buy anything you wished you had.

    The MOST Embarrassing PB ever!!!

I'm so sorry. I've not had one yet, and don't really want to.:cry Lessons learned! Always, always, always!!! carry a plastic baggie (even if you stuff it down in your bra!). Yuk!
  9. Oh, yeah. Another thing, I have never accepted the image that looks back at me in the mirror. I am truly shocked when I walk by a plate glass window and unexpectedly see myself. I don't recognize me. I think when I know that person looking back, I will be there.

  12. I actually remember what I looked and felt like at various weights. I didn't start putting on weight until I was around 30 years old, after baby. I looked good and felt good - not skinny, just good. My Dr.s formula is for me to lose 70% of the amount that is excess of ideal weight. I.E. I am 5'5", 230 lbs and ideal weight is 130. That is 100 lbs excess. I should expect to lose 70% of that. Now that puts me about 30 lb more that I think I should reach. So, if that is what he wants to write in my chart that's OK, but it's not good enough for me. However, I'm not going to be obsessive about it. It's my life, my band and my money.
  13. Thanks for sharing that. I hven't PB's yet, and it sounded so awful. I good to know that it ain't necessarily so.:nervous
  14. Well, contratulations! Being this soon, you won't really have time to get to nervous. Good for you!:clap2:

    Success Diet for Bandsters!!

I don't get it. Sounds awful. I got the band so I could eat like a normal thin person. This sounds like a diet! If I could diet, I wouldn't need the band. JMHO

I have to wait FOUR  more days to start mushies. I'm feeling pretty good but I am missing real food. I'm not frantic, but I'm sure ready. I stayed at home for the first week, and then worked 1/2 days the next week. I must have overdone it though because I just stayed home all of Friday and took it easy. Also, a 3-hour nap helped.
  21. What are you feeling when you say you can feel food moving through your pouch? I see this mentioned when the discussion is about eating not too fast. I can't imagine actually feeling food moving along inside me. I am newly banded and don't yet have a fill, so food (still liquids right now) move through with no problem, but I would like to know HOW you know food is moving along so you can take your next bite.

    Important Lesson Learned

Wheetsin, thanks for your PB story. Actually, I think I read it when I was researching, but it didn't stick. I think I'll remember it now. Now, it could happen to ME!! :Banane20:

Feel food moving through your pouch?

Now, THAT I know about! And, I have also eaten too fast and had a very uncomfortable lump in my esophagus. That is probably the "golf ball." This thread is really helping me.

    Feeling Pretty Down

You have been offered some great suggestions in the other replies. Maybe need a fill? Take a really hard look at what and how you are eating. Sabotaging is easy. Review how to eat the "bandster way." No liquids with meals. etc., etc. Be kind to yourself, but be realistic.

    Important Lesson Learned

Pretty graphic, Wheetsin. Thank you. I think it would be so helpful to newbies like me to know what some of these things are really like. Politically correct euphanisms just don't do it. I need reality. Kind of like Strawarts: EPGSHFLYADV: Excrutiatingly Painful Gagging Sliming Heaving Feels Like You're About to Die Vomitation (suggested replacement for PB) I really want to know what I may be dealing with. :nervous
