You might have something there. He mignt not even be aware of it though. Men, in general, are simple creatures that don't analyze feelings as much as women. (Sorry guys, this is just stereotypical jabbering here). Kind of a male protective of his turf kind of thing. It keeps you safe from the predators.

It may take some searching on your part. Maybe your Mexico Dr. can put you in touch with someone. IMO, I wouldn't have surgery done until I had my US docs in place.

How much water do you drink
Stitchy replied to Barb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I really TRY to drink 8 glasses, but I find it very difficult. Can't drink before or after meal, and no gulping, now. Not allowed. I find it hard to sip more that 32 oz a day. But that's more than pre-band. -
AFM Yeah. I think time will take care of everything. And, were you really banded next December?:biggrin1:

I still feel various pains in my upper abdomen. The area right under my sternum is still very tender. I think that is where the liver covers the stomach. Since the liver has to be pulled aside for banding, I'm thinking that is just my body protesting the abuse. It is getting better. It's also still tender right around the port, but also getting better.

I will be 60 tomorrow! I will be sharing my pictures but since I was only banded 3 weeks ago, there isn't much yet to show. I have lost 21 lbs (but 10 since surgery). I can't see any differnce yet, but I sure can feel it in my feet when I walk.

I drank liquids for two weeks and didn't add any fibre. I also didn't poop for about a week. My Docs office said, well there isn't much fiber in jello. Not to worry yet. I didn't feel really hungry until the last day of liquids. Trader Joe's has some awesome boxed soups that are sooo much better than Campbell's.

Biker Grammy - I was self-pay, too. I hear you. I was banded 3 weeks ago, so I DO know about how hungry you are. On my first day of mushies, I ate way too much of apparently the wrong stuff. Ow! You didn't say how long before you can come off of liquids, but just take care when you do. I suffered for two days before I came to my senses. Someone on another forum said I was the poster child for what NOT to do. Hang in there. I know you are hungry, but you have probably been on diets before. The difference is that although you have to be mindful of what you put in your mouth, this one will work.

Marci! Congratulations! I know what you mean by those "souvenier" shirts. I bought some for the very same reasons you did. Now they fit more like dresses. No more "sticking" to my butt! Woo Hoo!!

Well, I have to say that I feel for the hard decisions that you have to deal with. I had my surgery done here in the US, and I am self pay. I don't think that I would have any reservations about the quality of Mexico doctors, but I did have concerns about after care, fills, complications, etc. Yes, the cost in the US is a bit more, but my US Dr. covers one year of aftercare, fills, etc. Add up the cost of fills (they can be very expensive), travel to Mexico, etc., and the US cost isn't all that much more. And you have a little more peace of mind As far as taking a bit longer to have the surgery in the US, so what is six months? Use that time to diet as you have probably done in the past. Only this time, the weight will stay gone because you will have the band. Gone is gone. I don't know what kind of person your DH is, but from that "dying" comment he sounds a bit manipulative. Like he knows what strings to pull. The garage? Hell, you are worth more than any garage. (Like I am worth more than any new car I have ever owned or will own.) I am truly sorry that he laid that one on you. That kind of guilt is so uncalled for and you don't have to accept it. Please, dear, don't let some "guilt-laden" comments and a new garage stop you from the rest of your life. You will be able to live your life with and for your family. If you don't have your health, what is there? Sitting on the sidelines ... if you are lucky? I say, put yourself first this time.

Jack - Huh? Ya' gotta' remember, we're just lay people!

I don't think I had one, but I didn't ask. If I did, I was asleep and didn't care.

Mary B.!!!! You're evil!:grouphug:

Anyone else dreading the day when people start to notice?
Stitchy replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How about saying thank you for noticing? You've been working really hard to eat smaller portions of better food. All true. Just not all of the truth. -
Or, I may be fat, and can go on a diet. But you just can't fix stupid.

My port is about 3" above my navel and 3" to my right. It's nowhere near any waistbands. Also, I thought that might be a problem since I am a right-side sleeper. No problem. My left side is the one that is still tender. I asked my Dr. about the waistband issue. He said that you have to remember ... your waist is going to be lower. Interesting.

I bought a new one-piece swimsuit last summer that will do for this summer. It isn't all that glam, but NEXT summer, I 'm going for a tankini. They are soooo cute. By then I should be retired and I want to look a lot better than the old ladies I will probably be hanging out with. :heh: :heh:

I hope I get to tell something like that someday!

These are in Sammamish, WA. On regular sized lots. Maybe the pictures will attach this time. Hmmm. Well, not exactly what I had in mind, but Oh, well. Thanks, anyway, Marsailles. You're near Seattle, too, so you know about the prices.

Wheetsin - I need to learn how to insert pictures. Is there a thread somewhere with instruction?:help:

Thanks, PhotoNut. I'm going to the market this afternoon. I'll look for them.

Yesterday afternoon, I was off liquids. Well, they said 2 weeks of liquids, and my surgery was in the morning, right? food for dinner, Yeah!!! :clap2: I had canned shredded chicken with canned peas in mayo. It was delish! Unfortunately, I ate waaaaay more than I should, even though I used a baby spoon. Many many baby spoons. Well, just because I could, doesn't mean I should. I was really really full. My stomach hurt! I had such a hard time going to sleep. I think maybe it was the legendary "golf ball." I felt fat. Really fat. I knew I was going to gain 5 lbs overnight. However, I was down one lb this morning. I felt better immediately. This morning, I slowed it down with Cream of Wheat. That's sitting in my tummy just fine and I don't hurt and I am full. Whew! What a relief! Tonight, I don't know what I am having for dinner, but I am going to measure and weigh whatever it is. I don't want a repeat of last night!

Well, I didn't pick the chicken off the regular food list. It was on my Dr. list of soft foods. Finely shredded and very moist. And I chewed very well. Nothing was really wrong, I don't think, except I ate waaaaaaay too much.
