Somebody Help Me!!!!!
P Jhay replied to BlessedWithaVoice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! Everytime I've gotten stuck, lying on my left side works wonders. It has been proven to help with digestion. Also, sipping on a little pineapple juice also helps. -
I have Aenta Insurance. Yes, I had to do the 6 months diet before the surgery. Those 6 months are going to go by so fast. So don't fret about that. I actually waited a year. Once the 6 months past, I got an approval from Aetna within 2 days. I got sooooo nervous, that I kept putting it off.

Rob, you are not alone. I was banded on 10/22 also. I have not lost a pound since, OMG, I don't know when. For a minute I really thought my scale was broken. Like the numbers were stuck or something. As I read some of the post op forum comments and blogs, it's normal. Once you get a good fiil, you'll start loosing again. Just hang in there. I go for my 1st fill on Friday. Now, since I am able to eat with no problems, I AM EATING....LOL

Worried I am eating too much, please help..
P Jhay replied to watermum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WaterMum, you are not alone. I am right there with you. I'm 5 weeks post surgery and at this point I can eat just about anything and trust me it's more than 4 oz. However, I am not giving up or in. You do the same. I hear it gets better once you get a "good" fill. Whatever that means. Anyway, Tootles! -
Hi NBertini, My Doctor here in Houston is Dr. Kenneth Hollis. He and his staff are awesome! I was banded on October 22. Also, I know a few people that were banded by Dr. Spivek (sp). He's good also. Both are with True Results. Good look with your search.

A little bit of this..A little bit of that...alot of Misery
P Jhay posted a blog entry in Blog 48761
Okay, it's been a minute since I last posted a blog. I guess I've been too busy commenting on everybody else's. Anyway, tonite was date nite for Hubby and I. We went to this popular restuarant here in Texas called Pappadeaux. Wednesday made three weeks since my surgery, so I felt like okay now I can start eating some real food. A little bit of this, little bit of that, no problem right? WRONG! All the little bits added up to alot, and now I am miserable. I started off with this drink called the Swamp Thing. Nothing major. It's a frozen drink with a lil splash of Sangria right at the bottom of the glass. That was my "waiting for a table drink". I drank maybe a little under a half before our table was ready. I didn't get to finish it. Looking at the menu, Hubby and I decided to order Crab Meat and Spinach fondue as an appetizer.:w00t: I figured a little bit of this won't hurt anything. So I ate a little bit of that with 1..okay maybe 1 1/2 pieces of Toast that came along with it. DELICIOUS! I should have stopped there..But NOOOOOOOOOOO, I want to stomp with the big dogs. Now it's time to order my main course. I ordered the Blackened ...Wait a sec let me go get the receipt..Wanna make sure I get it right..Press Pause...Press Play....I'm back...Blackened Gulf Fillet!!.Okay, let me explain to you all what this is..Blackened Drum Fish with a Lemon Butter PepperJack Cheese Sauce with Shrimp and Crawfish over Dirty Rice..I know the ones that are on the pre opt and post opt diets are like :w00t:..I'm sorry ya'll..lol..Okay, I ate maybe 5 forks of that (just a little bit)..I knew when I saw the plate I was not going to be able to eat even half of what was on it. I didn't eat any of the shrimp but I just had to have them on my plate. I am in the land of the SeaFood Lovers! THEN, in the middle of eating my food very slowly, let me mind you. I had (just a little bit) of my Hubby's stuffed shrimp. Just the stuffing, not the shrimp. Now this is over a course of 45 minutes. After all is done now I am looking like . Hoping and praying that I don't throw up. So we're sitting there after dinner, I'm watching folks around us just devour the raw oysters. Ya'll I am not talking about 1 or 2 oysters. More like 1 to 2 dozen. At this point I am gagging. In my mind I'm picturing the raw oyster going down my own damn throat. I couldn't take anymore, so we left. Now I am soooooooooooo full. I mean like an unexplainable full...Once I got home, I drank some cold water because I was so damn thirsty and you know they say don't drink while you're eating..And wait 2 to 3 hours after you eat to drink something..What the Hell! Now I am just sitting here, waiting for the digestion to start. F For those of you that are planning to have just a little of this and just little of that for Thanksgiving..DON'T IT! It's not too much you can get into 4 oz without going over board! I have learned my lesson. Damn that, I'm doing all liquids 2 morrow. Thank God, I didn't throw up... Too Toodles -
MGS...Aww, sorry that happened to you. My Doctor gave me this book that was written by one of the makers of the Lap Band , Paul Obrien. It states in there, never drink while eating. I know it's hard, but that will help eliminate the vomiting episodes, along with eating slower. I also read, that vomitting causes slippage. I doubt if you're one episode did any damage. Anyway, hope you feel better.

tough 2nd day after surgery
P Jhay replied to Denee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Denee.Sorry to hear Hubby had a rough first night..It gets better. What's dry hevies? Gas? I had terrible gas pain after surgery. So bad, I stood in the middle of the recovery room and bust out crying. Walking really helps the gas pains. In additon to Gas X strips. I didn't have any nausea. My doc placed one of those patches behind my ear. Tell Hubby to get up and walk to release some of that gas. Tell him it's going to get better! Take Care -
Hello Everybody, I am wondering. Is anybody having problems breathing deeply. Lately, I have been experiencing this problem. I try to take a deep breath and it's like I can't. I try not to go into panic mode and then really fall out. :eek:After about 2 or 3 tries, then my diaphram opens up. :huh2:What is this all about? I haven't had any fills.
-
Thank you guys for the response. Jack I'm not experiencing any pains with these breathing episodes. Thank God! LipStix, yes I have one of the breathing thingies. I've been using it but not as often as I should. The first few times I couldn't get the ball pass 1500. As I healed, I am now able to get it up to my 2700, which is the number the OR Nurse gave me as my goal. So I don'tknow, I'll see how it goes. If it doesn't get any better, I'll see my Primary Doctor. Thanks Guys

Hi Denee..Tell Hubby congrats on his banding. For two weeks I was only able to lay on my right side with a pillow prompt up behind my back. I was also comfy on my back. Whatever makes him comfy. I doubt if he'll be able to lay on the left side and be comfortable. After my surgery I did experience a lil tightness and pulling on my left. Don't feel as much now. I am 3 weeks out, I am able to lay on both sides. I got so comfy I decided to try laying on my stomach today and got stuck. When it was time for me to get back on my side, it felt as though I was pulling something.

Hi Ladies..I was browsing through..I have the same issue. Mines is where my bigger incision is. I was banded on October 22 and I'm not scheduled to go back until late November. However, I am going to question what this deformity is all about. I don't really have any pain there, but it is kinda strange looking. It only appears when I am sitting down. The first time I noticed it, I was like WTF?

Having a Drink week 2? (muchies)
P Jhay replied to WannaBSkinnyB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wannabe..Don't do it. If you're in week 2, shouldn't you be on liquids? Not liquor..lol..Jk..Every surgeon is different. My Hubby and I went to this spot here in Texas called Tommy Bahama Cafe' in the Woodlands. If you ever come down, it's a must visit. We sat at the bar, I was like now what am I suppose drink? My Hubby ordered a Margarita (sp). I ordered a flavored tea. Well our waitress, she was so kind. She bought my ice tea in a nice size wine glass with a lemon wedged on the side along with some cherries. I was like WTF, does she know I had lapband surgery and can't drink? That really made me feel like I was drinking more than what I was really drinking..lol...I said all that to say, you can order something that's non alcolholic, just tell them to put in a special glass, just for you. Your cranberry juice and Vodka is not worth it. You are still in the healing process. You will have your chance to get your drink on. You don't know how your body is going to react to the liquor. Then you're family will really have some questions. -
Hi Lori, just dropping in to see how you're doing since your surgery. I know we had our surgery on the same day and I hadn't heard from you since then. I've been doing quite well. I'm down about 20 pounds. I've moved to solids, sooner than my doctor advised me to, but I haven't had any problems thus far. Anyhoot, hope all is well. Take Care

P Jhay replied to jenmorgan55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am seven days out. I am starving. I've eated everything from baby Food to Pudding. The pudding did cut my appee a little, not much. I am not scheduled for a fill until Nov 22nd. Go figure. But I am going to hang in there and follow doctor's orders, because I don't want any complications. It's not even worth it. -
Baby Food Never Looked So Good!!!
P Jhay replied to Megmegs13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am eating Baby Food as we speak. I swear, it taste like Hot Wings from Hooters. Okay, I may be exagerrating (sp), but I tell you it's really good. I'm so hungry. Today make one week since I've been banded. I have tried the pear and pineapple mixed, the banana and strawberry is pretty good. My fav is Hawaiian Delight. Yummy! -
Newbie.. Need some advise..Help!!
P Jhay replied to HLS79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Heather. It's okay! I went through the same thing. I just could not do the liquid diet for two weeks. We'll my Doctor allowed me to eat at lease one meal a day. I couldn't even do that. I wanted more. My mind was telling me to eat all I can before the surgery. I think it was because I was so scared and nervous. The Monday before my surgery I was an emotional mess. I must have cried for hours. I was second guessing my decision also. I even called the surgery center and tried to cance my surgery. I told them I did not loose any weight. My plot didn't work. I said all that to say, what you're going through is normal. It's going to be okay. Get you some prayers going and trust it will be okay. -
OMG! LIPSTIX64..Lighten up. Who are you to assume why these ladies are putting off having "relations" with their partners. I don't think their weight has anything to do with it. To me being sexy is a state of mind. If you are confident with you and your body, regardless to what the scale says, then there it is. Sexy it is! Last I check this is a support group, right? What kind of support of you? For you to get upset over a member's comment, one would think you were lacking some relations..Girl, please lighten up a little. We are all starting a new..Let's make it fun

Side and lower stomach pain after eating?
P Jhay replied to AngelWhispers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Angel, this is something I am experiencing now. It feels like something pulling. Now, I've heard that it's normal in the beginning. Not too sure about 1 month out. I know it is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I only feel it when I'm standing. -
Hi Anne, I'm happy to hear you're going better. The gas was a lil unbareable huh? OMG! It was terrible. I'm to the point where I am releasing it..LITERALLY! I caught someone totally off guard in Walmart. It was like I was so happy to get it out of me, I just let it rip. I really didn't mean to..I was having that, what felt like pulling a few inches from the port site too. That got so bad I could barely walk. I muat say I am feeling much better now.
-
I was banded on Wed, 10.22. I am having this same issue. It just started on yesterday. It feels like I am pulling something. I honestly thought it was gas. It was hurting so bad yesterday, I could barely walk. I'm glad to read it's nothing.

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
P Jhay replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey would someone tell how to get the lil tickerfactory thingy on my profile or signature? I wanna keep with my weight too. -
It's the day after my surgery. Still have some gas going on. Nothing major. I've been doing alot of walking to help with the gas. I haven't really been resting well. A nap here and there. I haven't had much to drink. 1/2 protein drink, some hot tea and couple of sips of broth. I have to keep telling myself, quit stripping bucket naked getting on the scale. Not much has changed since surgery, as far a weight lost. Maybe a 3 pound gain. I know that's left over fluids from the IV.
