I have the cinnamon roll. It is ok. Everyone's taste is different. I use more milk or water if it seems too thick or sweet also crushed or shaved ice helps. I agree with getting the samples, if you can find them. Some people on here love the protein shakes that I hate and vice versa.

I made an amazing discovery the other day. I can sit flat on the floor and get up without any assistance. Before I would never get on the floor or would make sure there was a sturdy piece of furniture to pull up on. Now I don't need it. Yea. It is also easier for me to walk up the stairs in my home. Still not effortless, but much easier.

How many of you had insurance cover your Lap Band?
bmooney364 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Cigna. They denied me the first time. My PCP copied my very thick medical chart and sent it to them. I was immediately approved. They were very good IMHO. -
Wow and congrats. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration

I find I always have a problem with this when traveling and I don't drink enough water. Thanks goodness for clean bathrooms. I try to remember and carry plastic grocery bags in the car just in case. -
Do you still eat out after banding?
bmooney364 replied to spoiltmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love to eat out. Mexican is my favorite. I usually order 1 taco and a side of refried beans. I eat the whole taco and take about 5or6 tortilla chips and dip in the beans. I can hold about1/2 or 1/4 c beans, not alot, but it is so good. I don't usually have a problem with this. I will order an appetizer sometimes for my meal. This is usually plenty. Shrimp goes down good as does any salad with chicken or shrimp. I avoid the bread and starchy vegs. It just takes a little thought because you won't be able to eat like you used to. I find it very easy to have a PB episode if I am not extremely careful eating out. Good luck. -
I guess everyone has their favorite. I tried a new one today and liked it so well, I ordered a case of them, and no I do not work for the company. I found them at Krogers grocery store and they were about $8.50 for 4. I got the Chocolate. The brand is Zoic. It has 15 gms. protein, 90 cals, and only 6 gms of carb. Google it, and you can look at the nutritional facts. It comes in cho and vanilla. I ordered a case from Amazon.com for much less money. I would not order a case until I tried one. They taste good to me. Not a bit gritty and no globs of protein in the bottom. They are thin and I think I might add a little milk or coffee creamer if I want something thicker. I am diabetic and have to watch the sugar. I like the lo carb slimfast which is very hard to find in my area, but I noticed they did have them on Amazon.com. I also like the glucose control Boost. They taste great, but quite a few more calories. I usually drink these for a meal, but would drink the Zoic as a treat. You will have to try diffrent ones until you find one you like. Some people love muscle milk. I can't stand them and have poured several down the drain. Good luck.

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
bmooney364 replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh LaDawn you have done great losing so much by Dec. that is wonderful. It is frustrating to be at a standstill. I know mine is my fault. I don't eat right. Junk food. I haven't had a fill in a long while, but I don't think I need one because I have to be careful when I eat meat, bread and good vegetables or up they come. I am really trying hard and being honest. I don't ever want to be that tight, but I will get a fill if I feel I need it. Good luck and let us know how you are doing every week. I have also started posting on the "What did you eat today" thread. -

Monkeymama I saw that show and it was so gross. Looks like the girl could at least do that in private. Her poor family and children. She really had mental problems and needed treatment. -

I take my clothes to the Salvation Army thrift store, good will or a church run thrift store in my area. I know how hard it is to get nice plus size clothes and hope that mine go to people who can really use them or at least the money from the sale goes to people who are down on their luck. We have a consignment store here, but I don't know how they work. I have shopped there and there are several notices posted to potential sellers, usually that they are not accepting certian clothing at that time. You might look them up in the phone book and give them a call. We also have a local online classified site and I have seen clothes for sale on it also Ebay is an idea. I have bought some nice clothes from people on ebay. Good luck.

Hpw are those bantastic meals? Are they worth the money? How are they shipped? -
I had a lapband May 29 2009. I have Cigna. They paid well. I had to have a 6 mo wt loss plan , psyche consult, nutrition consult, co morbidities and then they requested additional info. My pcp copied and sent them my entire medical file and then I was approved. It was a big hassle . Just stay on top of it and make sure that the surgeon's office and everyone else sends in what Cigna requests. You can call them and make sure they have everything esp. if you don't hear in a timely manner. I did wind up paying, I think $40 for the medical copy co. I called them and they were waiting for Cigna to send them money for my file. I think that the medical copy co. would have been waiting forever as it was not in Cigna's interest to get my files. Once they had my file it was hard not to aprove me as I have alot of comorbidities. Small price to pay. They also pay pretty good on the fills and anything else that goes along with it. I really like Cigna ins. so far. Have had it for a yr. now. Good luck to you.

8 months banded and I'm still learning
bmooney364 replied to hallelujah.girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well HG you called me out on another thing I will have to admit. I know that alot of my slow loss problem is lack of exercise. I hate exercise and there is no other reason for my laziness. I have started ,but can only stay on the treadmill for 5 mins. I know I will just have to work up slowly. My goal is 160. If I ever get there, I may revise it, but at this time I will be satisfied with 160. I was that weight for a few months 2 yrs. ago, but gained it all back and more. My fill is doing good. I don't feel that I am restricted. Can still chug water and take large pills, but I am feeling full longer with less food, and not feeling the need to graze anymore. I am also learning that it takes alot less food if I stick to the solid protiens, like grilled meats. It is slow going, but looks like we will get there, eventually. I enjoy keepig up with everyone's progress on this forum esp. the Mayo Banditos -
i need a refresher...high protein foods
bmooney364 replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have some great ideas for your protien needs. I will add one my nutritionist gave me called double milk. Add 1/3 cup dry fat free milk powder to a cup of skim milk to increase your protien. I think it makes the milk 16 gms of protien which is what alot of protein drinks have for a lot less money with no aftertaste. I use sf instant chocolate quick for flavor, yum. I also add the dry instant milk powder to my oatmeal. It could be added to anything that you would add milk to. -
Dr. Hsu assisted with my lapband surgery in May of 09. He has since took over the practice of Dr. Hahn in Groves Texas. He is doing my lapband fills. He has a very good reputation as a general surgeon. He also has experience with the other wt loss surgeries. I would use him for any surgery. He is a very caring surgeon. I do plan to use him for a tummy tuck when I have lost enough weight. I would reccomend him to others. He has a office in Orange Texas, but does the wt loss surgery and management out of a office in Groves Texas.

8 months banded and I'm still learning
bmooney364 replied to hallelujah.girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So far the small bites and chewing are working. I have not PB or upped anything since I started this. I can eat anything. I went to the surgeon yesterday and had fill no. 3. I now have 7cc in a 12 cc band. I am staying on liquids and mushie today. Just to be safe. I don't feel any diffrent and can still chug water this morning. According to my scales, I haven't lost an ounce in months. According to the surgeons scales I had lost 9 lbs since I was last there Nov 3rd. I will take that. He was pleased with that and told me that the lap band is just slow and that it would probably take 18 mos. to 2 yrs to lose all the weight. HUH? I don't remember hearing that before, but my slow loss is proof. He said that he thinks this fill will do me for 2-3 mos. He wants his patients to be able to eat regular food and the band to help with staying full for 3-4 hrs. with no or very little snacking. Sounds good to me. I wanted a fill because I was needing to snack and had started that old bad grazing habit again. We will see. HG did you ever go for another fill? How is the eating thing going for you ? Thanks for posting the low carb recipe site. I am going to check that out today. I also appreciate all the food finds and other helpful tips on protein foods. That has helped me alot. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.
