Revision From Band To Sleeve With Cigna Insurance
bmooney364 replied to pegsue's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Cigna did approve me fast, but it has been a long process. The fluid was removed from my band in Dec of last yr. and the surgeon I used before decided to move out of state so I had to get another one. It has been one thing after another, but none due to Cigna. I have gained 20 lbs, Love to eat. My surgery is July 10th. I have a wonderful surgeon so hopefully it will be a great success. You should follow up with the advocate and I would call the ins. co. just to make sure they did get the paperwork. If I have learn one thing it is that followup is key. Again Good luck getting your surgery approved. -
Revision From Band To Sleeve With Cigna Insurance
bmooney364 replied to pegsue's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have Cigna and have been approved. I think all you have to have is medical necessity. I did not have to do the psyche eval or much else. My band had slipped and I have gastritis and esophagitis. Pain etc. Wt gain due to fluid removed from band. It took longer to get the Dr. office to send the info to the ins. co than it did for Cigna approval. So far Cigna rocks. I called to see if they had my paper work and I was told they review the request within a day or 2. Revision is totally different from a new surgery because you had to have all that stuff for a lapband and there is really no need to do it all again. Waste of everyone's time and money. Good luck to you. Hopefully you can get approved right away. -
congrats.Glad all is going well for you and I read and enjoyed all your ramblings. LOL

I agree with everyone else. Very becoming.

My Success In Hair Loss....
bmooney364 replied to PreciousCargo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was glad to see you put the dosage on the biotin. I have been taking it since 5/09, 1000mg a day and it has (knock on wood) kept me from losing hair. I have a lap band and did not get thinning hair. In fact my hair dresser said my hair got thicker. So give it a try if you haven't already -
Has Anyone Here Had Dr.yu As Their Surgeon?
bmooney364 replied to SexiiLexi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the sleeve surgery, but probably not the spider. I am a lap band revision and he did not say anything about that. I am sure that spider is people who have not had lap bands. I am using Dr. Yu too. Park plaza hosp on July 10th. Good luck to everyone. I will be following your progress and will post mine when I have any. The TLC website has a you tube video site about Dr. Yu and the spider. It looks great because it is one incision in the belly button instead of 5-6 small ones. Possibliity of no scars which is really nice for younger girls who might like to show off their bellies in a bikini after wt loss and a tummy tuck. I will not be worried about that at my age, don't think I will be showing my bare belly in this life. LOL I would have if I were 20 yrs younger. The spider would also be nice because there will be only incisions to heal ,and should less pain. -
Just joined this group. I am an RN, I am having my surgery july 10 in Houston. My surgeon is Dr. Sherman Yu. I have a lapband that has slipped. I had the band since 5/09. I lost about 50 lbs and quit losing after about 2 mos. I had an ultra conservative surgeon who would not fill very often. Turns out to be a good thing I would have really had problems after the slip if not for the fact that the band did not have much fluid in. My slip was upward most like caused by a vomiting episode. Anyways glad to be having the VGS.

I love love love sonic Ice. I get a big bag to keep in the freezer and have it everyday. I take a meat cleaver and gently break it up. I guess it is because I have mild anemia. It is so good to crunch on. So refreshing. I haven't been sleeved yet so I am still enjoying the carbonated beverages. I love the diet cherry limeaides from Sonic and don't forget happy hour 2-4 pm daily with with 1/2 price drinks. Am I a sonic commercial or what??? LOL.

Southeast Texas-Beaumont Area. Starting A New Support Group!
bmooney364 replied to judy7120's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow !! Glad to find this post today. I am in Orange and am having surgery July 10th in Houston. Would love to have an area support group. Just let me know where and when. I know there are a few other people on here from our area and I will pass on the message to the ones I have seen on here. Thanks. -
Christine50, Yes Park Plaza is the hosp. I will have surgery in. Sorry you don't work there, maybe you would be my OR nurse. Dr. Yu did a gastric bypass on my daughter a couple yrs. ago and she really liked him and she has had very good results. She lose over 100 lbs. and is maintaining with no problems. I hear very good things about Dr. Sarborough too. I think they do their surgeries together.

Aren't slurpees carbonated drinks? If not I would get one everyday if I can find a place that has them. I have a sno cone machine and love the sf hawaiian punch syrup available at Walmarts. Umm I am also addicted to sonic ice. I get a bag and munch on it for days It is good with crystal light and just plain water. (imagine that?? LOL)

Only 3 protein shakes a day? How long is your preop? If the Dr. said, you should definitely have some pudding and jello and yes that is alot of water. Good luck.

Everyone's taste is different. I do not like the muscle milk. I find the ones in a tub from walmarts to be so gritty, like drinking something with sand in it. My preop diet is for 2wks. and in consists of 4-5 servings of liquid meal replacement that may be mixed with water or skim milk. Oh yeah. They are much better mixed with milk. Water, crystal light, sf jello. lo sodium broths and sf popsicles. GNC total lean shake 25 is one of the approved supplements on his list so I got Vanilla and Banana (powder) to try today. I liked both of them. I mixed them with soy milk which is also allowed. I think I will go back and get 2 more flavors to try. They are on sale buy one/ get one 50% off. I ask the sales person if the had any samples and she said no. ask her if I did not like them after I tried them could I bring them back. Of course I laughed just joking. She said "yes we have a 30 day return policy" I have tried the Unjury and like the Vanilla and can drink the Cho. I usually love Strawberry, but did not like Unjury strawberry or the chicken soup. I have a lapband that has slipped so I have been drinking shakes off and on for awhile. My biggest recommendation is to not smell them. Drink from a straw or sip from a cup with a lid. The slimfast lo carbs are good, Boost hi protein, glucerna hi pro, Atkins (all are RTD} and are pretty good. I have to get lo or no sugar, due to Diabetes. Protein shots are usually not that bad or at least they are small packages and can be swallowed pretty quick. I am not looking forward to the liquid diet, but I know it will mean time is getting close for my life changing event. My date is July 10th. I love having this forum with people going through the same surgery at about the same time. I enjoy reading about everyone's adventure. We have all been through so much to get here and it should be smooth sailing from here on out. Good luck everyone.

Growing Impatient!
bmooney364 replied to Crichard1107's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would call my ins. co. to verify the paperwork made it after the Dr. office says they sent it. -
Marisa, God does love you. So just keep smiling. I am enjoying reading your blog. I am sorry you are going through a clinical depression. I just started reading your blog and don't know much about you, but you seem to have a pretty busy life along with the depression. I hope and will say a prayer that you will soon be feeling better. I am glad to see that you are getting professional help. God Bless and keep you.

I too love diet coke or any other carbonated diet drink. I quit cold turkey 3 yrs ago when I had a lapband and it was not bad. I didn't really have alot of withdrawal, but I did miss them. When my band slipped and all fluid was removed, the one bright spot was no need not to drink the sodas. Believe me I have been enjoying them to the fullest. I will say good bye gladly and trade them for my sleeve when the time comes. Good luck Marisa

Stressful Day....but I Made It Through!
bmooney364 replied to PEvette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, Yea Yea!!!!! PEvette. You are really great. Carmel apples would be one of my many weaknesses and I greatly admire you being able to resist temptation. Carmel apples are only one of the reasons I am so obese. Keep up the good work. I will think about you when I start the liquid diet, because I know it is going to be really hard. -
I know you are no different from everyone else and have been on every "diet" out there and lost wt. countless times only to gain it back. That is the reason most people have this surgery is for permanent wt. loss. Of course this surgery is a tool, but I am almost certain it is a much more powerful tool than any supplement he is selling. I think the mistake would be to buy his product or his line at this time. LOL.
