Amazing, but things like that happen all the time. You go and micromanage away. Hopefully you will get your approval soon.

Sudden Hopelessness.......
bmooney364 replied to Justine13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you qualify according to your ins. company guidelines? If so it should be fine. Hopefully you will sit down with the person who sends the info to the ins. co. and you can make sure everything is included to help you get the surgery. It seems like it takes forever, but your time will get here. I am glad to tell you alot of people gain wt. (myself included) during the 6mo requirement. It just shows that it is hard for you to lose wt. and if you are like most of us, if you did manage to lose a few pds., you would quickly put them and more back on. One more thing, denial is not the end of the process. I was already thinking out my appeal before I got the approval call. LOL. Good luck to you. -
Okay can you share with the rest of us? Thanks

Also as soon as you can get some of the cream soups. That helps I know I was so sick of sweet too. Savory is a good change. -

Wow Aaron, Thanks for sharing that. I got a huge giggle out of it. Did it really happen? As a nurse I hope you reported it to someone, that person needed help with mental health issues. Sounds like he was sicker than your wife. -
Oh, My Gosh! Have I Talked Myself Out Of Having Wls?
bmooney364 replied to K33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you are wise to consider this very carefully. It is a tremendous step. There are some bad things along with the good. As we hear over and over this is just a tool to help lose the weight. It is suppose to help us with the discipline we need. I don't think anyone wants to eat all that protein, take all those vits., be on liquids for a month and mushies and then softs for that long either, but we have to do it if we decide to have the surgery. But I read over and over on here how many people have been successful and are so very happy they had the surgery. I am still one full liquid until tomorrow and I still wonder sometimes what have I done, but I have lost 22lbs since the 10th of July so it is working and I plan for it to continue. I wanted to back out going into the surgical suite, I just closed my eyes and gave it to God, and here I am. I hope you make the right decision for you. -

I give a big rasberry to the 2-4 wks. If the doc office say they submited the papers you call in the morning and see if Cigna has them. I have Cigna and they said they review that info within a couple of days. -

Where were you having these tests? Surely not the hosp. where you are having the surgery. Who does this yocol work for? I must have missed something, but I would not let this person have anything to do with my surgery. The only thing I would let this dude do is walk me out the front door. -
Thanks O. T. R. we have to be reasonable here. I for one will have a little more sodium and other not so good for you things on occasion. Moderation is definitely the trick, says an only dreaming gal on full liquids for a few more days.

I have become so tired of protein drinks too. But I know we have to have it. A friend told me about Nectar unflavored protein. I was sorta sceptical, but thought I would try it so I got a jug and tried it twice today. I was amazed that I could not taste it. I put 2 scoops in an ice coffee and 2 more this evening in sf cho. soy milk. It was good too. The vit are awful and the nut at the surgeons office was telling us about one that is vanilla flavor, so I got some of them and they are not as bad as the fruit flavored one.I try my best to not smell the protein or vit. Make sure to wash your mouth out really good after taking the vit. Make sure what food you do eat is high in protein, I think chicken is your best bet. I wish I could help more. Maybe if you have soup you could try adding the protein to that. It is 10 gms a scoop so you would not have to have to many scoops to get in enough.

My best wishes to you. Seems like it takes forever. Do stay on top of everything and make sure things are sent when they were suppose to be esp to the ins co. -
Just went to a nut. consult about the soft phase and she said absolutely no pickles at this stage because of the skin. I think a little pickle relish should be ok in a blender for a salad.

Almost 3 Weeks Post Op And Very Depressed.......
bmooney364 replied to girlfriday's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I will be 2 wk Tue and am looking forward to mushies, but am starting to feel like you girlfriday. I think I may puke if I have to have another protein drink, but I know I must. I am also having trouble taking those dumb vits, spacing them out with all my other meds. This is too much like a job. I guess I better get off the pity pot and just make a plan. I didn't do this so I could refuses to be compliant. It is just so hard. I am glad to see we are not alone and to have someone here tell us that there is light at the end of the tunnel and it ain't a train. LOL. Thanks. -
I'm Sleeved! Just Home From Hospital.
bmooney364 replied to SophieJaneB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Glad to see you made it out ok. I had mine on the 10th and did not have any vomiting, thank God. I did and still have some heartburn. Aren't those pca pumps amazing? I slept alot. I am used to getting up several times at night to pee so that was not a big deal for me. I was able to get up and walk that evening fairly easily .Stayed 2 nights. Mostly seemed to be sore rather than real pain. Still taking my pain med at home. Doing fine til today , I had some creamy tomato soup, which is allowed and it is killing me with heartburns. That must be my no no food for now. Drinking is different, definitely a learning curb, must take small sips and lots of them. I agree anyone having this surgery needs to be aware it is not a walk in the park, but some people seem have it worse. They took good care of me at the hosp. and Dr. Yu was great. I will have to say it was more difficult than my lapband surgery was back 5/09. I think that Qball pump must have helped alot. I thought I would die of thirst then the angel of a nurse brought me some of those sponge mouth cleaner thingy, that was heavenly to be able to moisten my mouth and lips. Then about daylight she brought me a cup of the most delightful ice chips. I hardly noticed, but the liquid fare was pretty crappy and the same thing each meal. A sf popsycle, small container of warm broth, ice tea, water for tea or coffee and a lg bowl of disgusting green jello. I wonder how many tons of green jello they dump each yr? I was able to drink some of the broth, tea, tried to eat a couple of jello cubes, but it was hard. I wasn't hungry at all and just needed something to keep my mouth moist. Again good to see you out and doing well. Were you at Park Plaza or Bapt, ? I was at Park Plaza and they were very good there. I was able to get quite a bit of sleep which was surprising in the hosp. -
