I wonder if there is a scientific reason for the change in taste and smell. I know I had it. I quit telling people what I was smelling because they thought I was crazy. My nose was so sensitive to smells. Before surgery, I liked protein shakes for breakfast. I liked most of them and after surgery, I could not stand any of them. I am glad to see I am not the only one. I had surgery July 10th, the smells are back to normal, but I still don't like the protein drinks.

GNC has quest bars. I am not crazy about them. I think I will try the celebrate bars. Thanks, Getting There.

Sooo Sick Of Protein Shakes!
bmooney364 replied to Strangefruit's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think we have all been there. At least I have and have heard others say the same thing. You are almost there, not much longer, just know you are not alone. There is not much more you can do to make the shakes taste better. I have tried a lot of protein shakes and to me none of them are tasty. Eggface does have some recipes for icecream made with them that is pretty good for a change. You might look there for other recipe. Good luck. -
Yea for you SophieJane.

Revision Friends....anyone Out There?
bmooney364 replied to VNaNa's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had revision surgery on 7/10.12. I have lost 42lbs and am so glad to have that band out. I had it all done in one procedure. My surgeon is excellent and does lots of them. Every surgeon is different. Knowing what I know now, I would have never had the band. The sleeve surgery is a major surgery, no getting around that, but when you are over it, you are able to eat most anything in very small amt. without getting sick or sliming. It is so nice. Good luck to you. -
Surgery 7/10. Down 42 lbs. I hit onderland yesterday Yipee !!!! I walk a mile 4-5 times a week.

Yeah it is kinda like that for me. I am still very interested in food, but it is like a disconnect when it comes to eating it. I still like to look at all the cooking sites and even cook food, but I am only able to eat a few bites of anything. Which is a good thing and I don't have the desire to eat lush hi fat desserts any more. So far anyways, lol, my surgery was July 10th.

30 Lbs Down, Cholest. Down, Glucose Up?!? What The Heck ?
bmooney364 replied to Sheree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sheree, I don't know about the above info., but I had surgery on July 10 and my blood sugar has remained stable. Fasting in the low 100's. I have been diabetic for about 10 yrs. and it is going to take more weight loss to get mine to budge. I just have to keep checking it every day or so to see if it goes down. I am still on the same diabetic meds that I was on before surgery. I would love to be able to stop them, but so far it is not happening. -

Final Answer On Water?
bmooney364 replied to earth2terra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will vomit if I drink any sooner than 30 mins after eating or try to drink a sip with my meal. -
I had surgery tue am and was discharged thur afternoon, The hosp stay was fine, THe surgeon is great. I did and am having some pain, but I do have good pain meds. I feel like someone beat my belly.I keep hearing things get better daily, so I am looking forward to it. My cat just jumped from the headboard of my bed and landed with all 4 feet on my belly. OOOOWWeee. He loves me and wants to be in my lap.He is about to be banished from my b/r for the time being. I am having to practice small sips. That is hard for me. Just wanted to report in.

bmooney364 replied to ShannonK's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I made these last night. Delish Thanks so much. My sauce was a tsp ketchup and a tsp horseradish. Yum. Cocktail sauce would work. This is a good protein recipe and I do love crab. -
Day Of Surgery Question
bmooney364 commented on incontrol(almost)'s blog entry in incontrol(almost)'s Blog
I had my hubby, but I sent him to a hotel. I could not see him sleeping at the hosp. The nurses were very good to me and I was a good patient. Only asking for help to the bathroom, because they told me to call. I mostly slept, good pain meds. -
Crab Cakes With Creamy Avacado Sour Cream Sauce
bmooney364 replied to ShannonK's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I just wonder what stage this would fit into? Soft? -
IDK. I think there must be quite a bit of swelling at first. THen when the swelling goes down there is more room . I just started mushies on Tue and one soft scrambled egg lasted me 3 meals and I enjoyed every bite. I would think a man's stomach would be a little better. Good luck.

I think they are safe. That is what my surgeon recommended for my heartburn. Good luck. Hope it is just indigestion.

Sudden Hopelessness.......
bmooney364 replied to Justine13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just another thought if you were very successful with the 6mo wt loss program what would happen? Would they declare you a wonderful wt loss success story and therefore, you don't need wt loss surgery, because you are able to lose the wt without the surgery? I know most of us on here have been on every diet available and have lost lots of weight ,but it is keeping it off. Most of us can not do it and yoyo up and down until our metabolism is wrecked. This is just me, but that is the reason I wanted the surgery. -
You are a great story teller and look forward to hearing more. Myself, I just loved food and eating. We had lots of high fat,hi carb foods. Beans and fried potatoes and I could never get enough. I was the only obese one in the family and got tease and put on a diet alot. Well we know how that went. Anyway good to hear others stories.
