OMG!! On my way to work this morning I must have seen 8 HUGE Billboards and about 5 commercials on the radio about "LapBand Surgery". What a bunch of false advertising!!! They tell you - "If you need to lose 50 lbs then get the lap band it will save your life!". What they don't tell you is that this is a struggle and the band is a tool not a solution. I can only speak for myself but I fight with myself everyday and think about everything that I have to do to help myself and my band. They make it sound like the weight is just going to come off once you get the surgery. You still have to diet and exercise to get the weight off. It's gotten to the point where some people in my office are starting to make a joke out of it. So Fustrating - I hate those billboards!!

After 5 fills and 6cc's later I am finally at the point of some good restriction. Does anybody notice that as the days go by you are able to eat more? The first few days I wasn't hungry but here I am a week later, I can eat more. Is this normal???:ihih:

Do you need to lose those pounds you've gained?
vamjuarez replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am right there with you guys!! I was banded in October 2008 at a starting weight of 237. The lowest I hit was 206. Well I've gained about 4lbs. back, haven't lost any weight in months and I am so fustrated. I know the process was going to be slow but this is discouraging. I will not lie, I have falled off the wagon a few times but not enough to not lose and gain some of it back. I know I need another fill but I'm afraid to go to the doctor as I don't want to get "the lecture" about what I should be doing. I'm trying to get back on track and eat lots of low fat soups, sugarfree jello, and pretty much a mix of all the stuff I was eating on the post-op diet. Oh yeah, and lots of water & crystal light. I was a diet coke addict (1 case of soda every other day) and after the surgery I have cut all that out completely as it makes me sick. I try to excercise as much as possiable but I have two girls (11yrs & 5yrs old) that require so much time. Between the both of them, I'm in a Twilight/HighSchoolMusical double hell of my own - HA!HA! Any suggestions on time management and/or juggling so many things at once??? -
I'm failing my band!

I am right there with you guys!! I've only lost 30lbs since Oct 22nd. Sometimes I feel like "why did I even do this if this is all I'm going to lose". BUT then I remember that I would have lost the 30lbs then put them right back on. I see that I'm in a slump and not losing but I'm also not putting it back on either. I've had four fills and after each fill I'm good. I feel good restriction for about 2 weeks and then after that I feel less restriction and hungry until my next fill. I'm fustrated with myself as this is a constant struggle:blushing:. I think I'm going to join weight watchers as I need some support and motivation. I'm still exercising and trying to stay on track but this weight just doesn't want to come off. Hang in there everybody!!!!! -
First fill and nothing - suggestions please!
vamjuarez replied to San Diego Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go in for my first fill on Dec. 2nd and I am nervous that nothing is going to happen. I'm hungry now but try to control it with my diet. I guess it's just like everyone is saying - we have to take it slow as this is not an overnight process. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!!! -

Congrats to everybody and when you have a thought of "what the hell did I do to myself" just think how good you are going to feel this time next year! Getting healthy and looking good is the goal!:tt1: I was banded on the 22nd and I feel better everyday. Port area is a little sore but the pain/preasure in my chest has almost all gone! :smile2: I do get these mad hunger pains that can put me on my knees at times but I have a sugar free popsicle (or two) and they seem to go away for a little bit. I don't know how much weight I've lost so far but my wedding ring is loose and my watch has now turned into a braclet. I'm in the Arcadia, CA area and if anyone needs to talk or needs a buddy - let me know! We are all in this together...:tt1: -
I was banded on 10/22, off Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun and returned to half a day Mon/Tues. I'm back at a full day today Wendsday and just trying to take it easy. Pace yourself and don't over do it. Don't lift anything heavy and just make sure that you get up and take a few steps and stretch every so often. Good Luck!!!!

Pressure in my chest :(
vamjuarez replied to ShaeShae1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW! I am so happy for this website. I feel like I have a boot right in the middle of my chest. Sometimes it's okay but sometimes it just feels like I can't take a full breath! This is my fifth day banded and I just hope this goes away very soon. What a horrible feeling.
