Feeling hopeless and like a failure
sunflower replied to rpaniagua77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We must remember that we are not gastric bypass patients! I had a hard time with that myself. I expected to eat two bites and I would be full! Not the case. I find myself eating when I'm not even hungry, why? I think its anxiety and things that I need to deal and committ myself to. I think its about excepting myself everytime I look at the mirror. Its about sooooo much more than eating or losing weight for a lot of us. I'd say your doing pretty darn good. Now, just stop worrying about it and get a hobby besides running after 3 kids! (that's seems like plenty exercise!) listen I know what you feel but you are doing a great job. I have (and I stopped beating myself up about it) only lost 17lbs in almost one year! Am I disappointed? Well what do you think I did for so long? But not anymore it does not help. I love myself as a person not a body. Do I wish I was there ? Well of course but I know I will get there even if its a turtle race. okay ! So love yourself and appreciate the vehicle that you are in today and always, eventually you will come full circle. -
Has anyone been approved by Pacific Care POS? If so let me know. Also once you have been banded in Mexico as I have, just wondering if anyone has had any success getting their fills paid by your insurance? or has anyone tried? I know I asked once but just trying to get more of a response and the responses I have gotten so far have been great! Sunflower

By the way I would like to know what type of surgery DS is and how it works? Do you get the dump syndrome? Does your body absorb all the nutrients? If anyone could give me some light on this I would appreciate it.

This thread is so true for many of us. Ultimatley its having self-control instead of being out of control right? It is the choice to live with food not for food. Not to play mind games with food or any type of surgery that we choose. We still have to deal with food and make the choice whether its to gain weight, not loose weight or feel sick because we were not connected with our right and wisdom to make the choice of having control and not being controlled! I stuggle with this everyday and I am still not at peace with it. I know someday I will get there and for now I just love being with all who have been there or are still working not to be there. Good luck for today and make it a great one! :)

Had to have an emergency unfill.....

Hey I have a question about fills and insurance, I paid for my surgery in TJ out of pocket. Will my insurance cover my fills in the US? or do I have to go through some red tape? I think its utterly ridiculous to have to pay so much for a fill when they don't want to meet your needs. I know in TJ the fills are much cheaper for example mine are 120.00 on a weekday and 150.00 on a weekend you provide your own transportation, or 200.00 and they pickyou up at the SD airport and take you back. The only problem is they do seem to not want to listen to my needs of having more of a fill. Although they have wonderful bedside manners its still frustrating to not get what you want and paid for. I must say they do have some of the best surgeons there. I'm just frustrated having lost only 15lbs in one year and six fills makes me angry! I'm about ready to just give up on this band. I have talk to my surgeon several times about this but he tells me there is nothing wrong with the band and that I must remember its a tool. I know he is right. I need to go on liquids for a complete two weeks. Has anybody gone on liquids for an extended period and then have results with the band? -
For all of you suffering from pcos. I suffered for years till I found in an article that the diabetic drug metforin will help stablize your periods. I was on that for 4 years had a period every month. Many women with pcos using this drug have even gotten pregnant and this does help with weight loss also. There are side effects tummy aches and diahrea if not taken properly. But just having your cycle return to normal gave me piece of mind. Unfortunately, had to have hysterectomy last year and mommy of one, but thats okay there are benefits to being mommy of one too, just having to go through teenage years is one and that where I'm at now! Hope this is some helpful information.
