Should I be a witch, or no?

Apple---we should all be so lucky as to have a friend who will take care of us when we cannot take care of ourselves. I have such a friend--and years ago, when I come out of an extremely abusive marriage, and needed to heal, I stayed with her and her family. They helped me in so many ways I could never repay them. I moved out on my own eventually, and they bought a new home, sold theirs, and the sale fell through on the new one! So the family moved in with me, while other homes were looked at, and eventually bought. To this day if one of us required it---we would be there. I understand that----but I would still have a super hard time doing it, either way--me at her house, or her at mine-------I am so spoiled to my privacy!!! I think maybe talking to your friend is going to be the only way she sees that she is still under the old boyfriends power----let her see that he is still pulling her puppet strings! We let it happen to us sometimes without realizing it, we get roped into the guilt without ever opening our eyes to how it really is! My own history shows me I have allowed myself to be manipulated simply because it was easier than fighting. Having someone in my corner to help me fight, made all the difference! I do love the idea of charging her (even if it is just the $100.00 a month you and DH agreed on), putting it aside then presenting it back to her as a home warming----to let her do what she would like to with her new place. It would ease your mind now to know she was "helping"----and then ease it further to be able to show her where that $$$ went. Wonderful idea snowbird!!! My Mom did similar for years when my DD was young, she charged me to babysit. So that if I ever had to take her elsewhere I would be used to paying. She took that money and it was in a savings account for my DD--earned interest for her til she graduated! Now my DD pays me.....I figure she knows where it is going, but my granddaughter doesn't....yet! Kat

Should I be a witch, or no?

I don't think I would be really witchy -- but neither would I allow myself to be walked on again by her. I think I would call her back and tell her due to the schedule of your move, you will not be available Friday, so for her to just call you when she has the rest of the money and you can work out a schedule for pick up. That if it has not been picked up by the time you move, you will leave it behind, and she can take it up with the property owner. If she told me to put it outside, I would refuse, her desk, she can find her own manpower to move the thing, I would NOT do it for her. It IS hard to stand up when it is a friend---or for some, a child that needs to move out or move on----but letting them stall is not helping them move forward. I would hate to be in your position Apple! Of course I do not have that much spare room, and someone with us that long, would be in my way----but I hate it! I enjoy company for a day or so, then I am over it! I want my life back. If I get out of the shower and remember I need to get the coffee pot ready, I want to be able to walk around my own home in any state of dress or undress I want! I am spoiled to my privacy! Good Luck to you both! Kat
  3. ((((hugs)))) Terry----I am glad you took a stand for yourself. And if baring your soul to them does nothing else, they will know to call you themselves next time! You are always telling the rest of us we deserve better treatment---and so do you! I am really curious to see what kind of response you get.... Kat

    Need a break from LBT

I have no doubt in my mind that we ALL want our weight loss to be permanent....whether we choose bypass, banding, sleeve, DS or whatever else is available. There were many things that I took into consideration prior to being banded as opposed to bypassed, which was the big choice 2 years ago to me. At that time, I had not heard of the sleeve, neither surgeon mentioned it to me. I truly hope by taking care with my band, that it is with me for a lifetime. I hear the horror stories, as we do with ALL forms of WLS. But with my history, something that would allow me to make an adjustment and receive more nutrition is a must. I have been totally unfilled for over a month now. I was unfilled prior to my Tummy Tuck, and have opted not to refill until I have an issue with maintaining my loss. At this point, hunger has not returned, and I have continued to either lose, due to the surgery or maintain. Losing without trying has never been an issue. I can eat normally, I have however learned a lot with being banded, and have continued to eat small portions, and adjusted the type of food I eat. I know if I had this ability to eat this way prior to being banded, I would never have been the weight I was--but I couldn't!!! Even unfilled the band has all but eliminated my hunger, which has been a blessing of massive proportions!!! I believe a forum for revision would be a good idea. I do not mean it be that those who have opted to have another surgery done should not post elsewhere, but it would allow those considering it to know where to look. Especially since sleeves seem to be so new to the WLS choices. And since there are those on the LBT site promoting them now. Back when select few Dr.'s in only a few areas were doing the band, the stats and the results were much better--before every quack Dr. everywhere started doing them, and giving zero post op diets etc. Eventually the same thing could happen with the sleeve---the more Dr.'s doing it without proper care and training, and the stats begin falling. It seems very unfair, to all the WLS---that when the person or the surgeon fails----it is blamed on the procedure! Having multiple places to get information is always helpful. I think the more knowledge we can share----we should, and the info regarding exercise and diet is pertinent regardless of surgery---so we should all be able to share that without issue. I do understand that some forms of surgery require different dietary guidelines for awhile, but healthy eating should be #1 regardless whether you can or cannot eat fats or sugars. No WLS is perfect. Not one of them is the right thing for everyone, just as we are all different, different things, and different approaches work differently for all of us. But I do think if you plan to fail.....you will! Kat

Betty---yes and no!!! I have a bike Rick is working on, he is convinced when he finishes it I will ride my own again----not too sure about that!!! I laid my last one down avoiding another bike, so it was not fast, I was not hurt bad-----but have rode with him ever since. All together, now we have 8 bikes! Just bought the 8th a couple of days ago, it is an old classic that Rick is going to turn into a chopper. So......hoping that project pushes mine out of the way for awhile, I am happy with the status quo as it is!!! Off to yet another meeting--this one with a local school board group, trying to get bus rentals for transporting people from Farmington to the rodeo grounds which is less than 10 miles, but saves parking issues----and with gas being $4 + a gallon----we will see what can be worked out. I keep telling them, that yes gas is $4 a gallon, but diesel is $5!!! We will see how it goes! Today is 4 weeks since my surgery. I still have some minor draining, from one area on the incision--the lower right, but I feel fantastic! I am slowly getting used to reaching in my closet and choosing what to wear based on whether I like it, as opposed to what gives the most coverage! I still have 10 pounds or maybe 15 I'd like to lose, but I am not going to make myself crazy over them. Where I am now, is something I only dreamed of 3 years ago----so I am just thrilled! Mandy, you ok? Well I need to find something for Breakfast, so I can take my antibiotic---they are tearing up my stomach, so I am going to seriously try to eat well when I take it.....see if it helps. BBL~~ Kat
  6. Becky, reducing the pain meds will help with the constipation as well.....you might try some juice. My DH when he had his open heart surgery (valve failure) he had to take his stool softner with a glass of OJ for it to work---go figure!! Salsa---my TT was done as an outpatient procedure as well, and my pain pump worked without issue--I bet yours does too!!! Take time to have things set up at home, and still try to do the raised toilet seat, and have things where you can easily get to them without jumping up and down. DH set up a TV tray thing next to my recliner, and everything was close at hand. The only thing I had to get up for----was getting up and moving! I am 4 weeks out today, and other than a bit of drainage from where I had the infection, I am up and going as normal. Slowly getting used to just reaching in the closet and picking what to wear, by what I like as opposed to what provides the best coverage! People are still shocked when they see me, the belly had been there for so long! Glad you are doing well enough to go out and about Becky----both you and Frangi had bigger surgeries than I did---sounds like you are doing great!!! Kat
  7. Beautiful hutch Laura-----good find, and the woman you bought it from sounds like a really nice lady as well!!! Terry, I think I would give my cousins or Aunt a call to "apologize" for missing them, and just innocently say, that ever since she has owed you so much money, she avoids you at all costs, and unfortunatley that included not letting you know they were coming. You only found out when you went by at your USUAL time to see your Mom. It would #1----let everyone know she owes you money (this is a bonus!), #2---let them know you see your Mom on a schedule daily, #3--let them know you did not purposely stand them up, you were not told. #4---it would also allow you to get a new opinion on how they think your Mom is doing I don't have a sibling that this can really go on with. My brother has brain damage issues from a head injury, so he is difficult, but not in a mean way on purpose. My SIL---same as your sister! She does anything and everything to make us look like crap to the other siblings! The sister from Denver was coming to see her parents this month finally--she makes it once a year usually. She is disgusted by their house---it is not spic and span, and she was planning to be here the 10th, and said WE (meaning her, the local sister and my DIL and I) were going to do a thorough cleaning of the house. So then the local sister tells me the one in CO is putting it off til next month so I will be healed enough to help good. Pissed me off!!! I told her that was fine and I would put off getting HER parents any firewood for next winter until SHE was able to help! I bust my ass helping them, while she takes multiple vacations, and cruises, and does NOTHING for her parents! And she is trying to make her postponement my fault! Isn't it interesting she went to Phoenix during the time she was supposed to be here.....even if I couldn't clean she could have spent some time with her Mom and Dad....just visiting. But no, the entire time she is here, she is off running around. Makes me crazy! I sympathize with you completely! I need to find something to eat for breakfast so I can take my antibiotic, I just do not feel like eating. The meds are tearing up my stomach----so going to try to get 3 doses in earlier today to see if it will settle before bed. Talk to all of you in awhile! Kat
  8. Sounds like we have the basis for our next get together---baby shower coming up!!! So......Laura guess you know now who we are waiting for to get this lined up!!!!! Haydee----Great big giant ((((((HUGS))))))) Taking a stand is what your heart told you to do, and it will tell you whether he is the "Juan" or not. Trust yourself. I would have LOVED being at the rally with you!!!! They are such fun, we usually camp, and the campgrounds are a blast! Suzanne, thank you so much for the card, you are sooooo thoughtful! I need to take lessons! Kinsey had her first swimming lesson today, I forgot about it, Manda reminded me....she is such a little Water otter anyway, she jumped right in there, and is dunking her head, and kicking with the kick board---she loved it! We go back on Wed. I tried on a Knight hood (as in a shining armor type of thing) in the store the other day and my DIL took my pic on her phone, made me think of Pamela's Flavah of Luuuuuuuuv-----hat! Well, I am off to fry shrimp----fun, fun, fun! Terry----Mom doing any better? I LOVE you playing mind games right back with the sister.....I knew it was in there!! HUGS for your DH issues too-----a week ago I was a basket case, I sympathize. I in no way meant to put down your shopping Craigslist, only to avoid any deals that were not finalized face to face! DS got ripped off bad, but it is a federal case now, due to how the scammers did it! There was a story in our paper about a family that went on vacation.....while they were gone her "parents" showed up at their home, and visited with the neighbor....and explained that they were going to take the motor home and meet the kids for the weekend to end the vacation. Ends up they were crooks, a couple said to be in their late 60's---they got into the house, found the titles to the RV and a truck, sold them both, right from the house itself! When the owners come home they of course called police----and 3 days later they "caught" a woman trying to register the pick up. She had a signed title, just not signed by the real owner----and she was out $14K!!! A record search turned up the RV---already titled by the scammed new owner. They both described the people the same, said they bought them at the house---which was somewhat rural, but in the city still! Both of them are just out the $$$$$. The paper said if you buy from an individual always ask to see ID that they are the true owner....who would have thought to do that??? They have the right address, and the clear title-----I would have been scammed, I have never ask for ID!!! Scary world!!!! Better get frying!! Kat

    NJ June 2008 Chat

I'm here girls, was just a busy few days!!! We rode to the mountains --to Telluride Colorado for a Blues Festival. It is soooooo beautiful up there, but still snow on the passes!! Got a bit chilly on the bike, but it is such a great ride! We listened and shopped the tons of vendors. Then we did a dinner at a place in Durango called Steamworks, they do the seafood ---where it is all cooked, them dumped on the table. I pick out the shrimp and order a salad, the guys love it! One of the VERY best things about not having any fill at this time, is I was able to drink a beer! While at the blues festival, it felt soooo right! I had 2 meetings in the last few days for the rodeo planning....it is getting close, and chaos is settling in! This is for the National High School Finals Rodeo. We will register over 1500 competitors, bringing a total of over 7000 people to house, coming from, so far I think it is 40 states, 6 Canadian provinces, and Australia....as well as 2000 horses, and we were shy 200 stalls/corrals/pens, so they are being constructed. There is also all the event stock---such as roping calves, bulls, broncs.....all have to be housed. The kids coming from Australia, borrow competition horses. We have a huge RV city, we set up portable pools and portable hot tubs, and there are hundreds of food vendors, all trying to get green tagged and up and running. All animals have to be vet checked. Now through all the prep----the place is up and running a huge casino with live horse racing. They will run the last race the 29th of this month and we have less than a month to set 2 competition arenas, with electricity and phone service in the centerfield, and fill the track with more seating! It is the little things, trying to schedule enough portapotties with frequent enough cleaning, and where to haul all the livestock waste.....and they cannot have one meeting and make a decision, they have to committee EVERYTHING!!! I love it--but they make me crazy! I'll be back able to ride in another week! YAY!!! Riding was always my "escape" when I was at my heaviest I all but give it up. Then when I lost weight, I began again, but it was the absolute worst thing for causing me to have rash and break down problems with the skin under my belly fat. It would rest on the leather saddle---and not breath, and become chaffed. So I am sooooo excited to get back on! We also had company come in from California last night, so were up late. He is off with family....this is Ricks best and oldest friend, and his 2 kids 14 and 11. They have family, but they stay with us. Trish I am so glad surgery went well for you---I am sorry you are hurting....it was a relatively easy surgery for me. Hope you feel better real soon! Welcome Donna!!! Hang out, get crazy with us! Thanks for worrying girls, just a crazy time! Not to mention daily care of a 3 year old granddaughter and often times a 2 year old grandson. But being Granny is great.....they go home at night!!! Love em---but love my quiet time sometimes too!!! Will try not to go MIA again!!! Dianne---GREAT to see you check in! Hugs~~ Kat
  10. Nope, they'll just think ministers are your "thing" Judy!!!! If Rick and I ever decide to do a wedding---a la Tracy---since we did the legal thing years ago---we will have to let Pamela marry us, and we can have lots of Violets!!! LOL Overheard the youngest DD, the one who is pregnant, asking the DIL at lunch if she took the test.....I might be looking like Denise here soon, 2 grandbabies in the next year. And I know for a fact Manda does nothing for birth control, she had to use fertility drugs to have Kinsey.....so who knows what we might get in the next year!!! Jane, you have been given excellent advice! Treat yourself like you would one of us, who was struggling! And I can't scroll back far enough, but someone mentioned the medical testing, and that is enough to depress anyone! In fact during the treatment for Ricks heart valve issue, my Dad's bypass surgery (both times---27 years ago, and 4 years ago), and when they found Manda's problem, they ALL dealt with some serious blue days. I saw my Dad cry! That scared me! Rick would just block out everything except he was old and gonna die with heart problems! He was (don't tell) almost comically depressed! When you combine that with the self directed anger over not eating right----it is understandable that you feel down. Know we love you and are right there with you----and if you think Tracy can pull you from a river, just wait and see how we pull you from depression!!!! Terry---glad you enjoyed your beads!! It was great fun! TracyK---off to goodwill they go then! I know a couple of people I might ask here, that also wear the longer tops. Pamela.....are you mourning the loss of Manuel yet? Pooooor you! Today....I think we will hang out, maybe walk to the park. If my friend calls I am taking her to lunch. She has met with some devastating news lately----so want to spend extra time if we can work it out. OOOooooh Laura is gonna be digging out the swing!!! No more pills!!! Before long poor Russel is gonna be pokin' fun, and Laura will up and take him serious!!! Haydee.....slow down---we miss you! Jenn----I am gonna send the flying monkeys to hunt you down! Michelle--glad Evan seems to be ok! Denise, how is the baby? When is the next one due??? Well.....I have to take my scale over so the neighbor can weigh herself. She refuses for some reason to buy one.....and always wants to use mine when her visiting nurse comes. Don't get it, but whatever!! Talk to y'all later! Kat
  11. We are back, had a great ride up to the lake, it is so pretty up there! We come back, and just pulled in the drive, when Rick's oldest, bestest (!) friend pulled up! He is in town from California, and he and Rick are still sitting on the patio talking. I sat out with them, even drank a beer with them, then figured I would get Rick's lunch done, and the coffee made for morning, and let them have some guy time!! So I come to my girls!!! Pamela, I am so glad Susanne is home with you, now you guys get to really begin your life together!!! How exciting! Rick and I did long distance for 2 years between here and Denver. I would go up once a month and he come down once a month for weekends, and that was it! We wrote letters every day, and called every day. Keep in mind this was many years ago, gas was much cheaper, and computers were not in every home! I actually had a computer, in the last few months, but he did not! When he finally made the move down....I kept waiting for things to "change" they never did, he was still the same guy----thank goodness!!! It made for a strong foundation---considering the blending of families, we had talked a lot!!! When you write letters and speak on the phone, you have nothing to do but share thoughts!!! We couldn't run out to dinner, or catch a movie each night, or hop in bed, so we communicated---which helped us a lot! Not that things are always perfect (as last week proved) but....I think it did us good, the long distance beginning! Jane----do whatever it takes to keep the 'puter going!!! Beautiful hutch Laura!!! I have my grandmothers----it is really wierd, it is closed ---always has been----but 10 years later, when I open it, it still smells STRONG of Grandma's cigarettes!!! I can store dishes, but not cloth things in the bottom, because they all come out smelling!!! Makes me think of her though, so I have not done anything to try to rid it of the smell! Well, I am off to the shower, 5 is gonna come early at this rate!! Nighty night! Kat
  12. Karri------if your pain pump is like mine, it is a round shaped IV sort of bag, and when it is empty it would just hang out with your drains until you see the Dr. the next time, it won't be a big deal if it remains in, even when it is empty----not something to worry over!!! Becky, Frangi------so glad you are both hanging in there, it gets better quick.....and your new you starts emerging---such an amazing transformation----you will love it!!! So glad you are both through the surgery itself and on the road---I love being in such great company!! Hugs! Kat
  13. Had a great time yesterday Suzanne! Wish we could have listened together!!! Lunch/dinner was fun, all the kids there, both sets of parents, and my brother. Rick's sister and her family are still boycotting anything we might do together, which is fine by us!!! Now we are headed out for an evening ride.....so will check in later----gotta go give the guys proper instruction, they are tightening the chain on DS's motorcycle..... Hope everyone else is having a great day too. Jane I NEVER understand what my SIL says to do with my computer, so I work with it screwed up until he takes pity on me or tires of me whining about it!!! Sorry you are having problems---hugs---------that is sooooooo frustrating! Catch y'all later tonight! Kat
  14. Mostly it depends on your individual insurance. As well as how the procedure is billed. It usually has to be pre approved as a medical necessity as opposed to cosmetic which is usually not covered by most insurance policies. The medical necessity is decided by insurance workers, not a Dr. Makes no sense! My great niece was mauled by 2 dogs, and the insurance would not cover her surgery to her face or her legs, because while disfiguring it was not medically necessary! The surgeon who did my TT actually did the surgery anyway while my nephew and his wife sued the dogs owners---all of them knowing you cannot get blood from a turnip--but the surgeon did it anyway. Insurance would have let her be scarred for the rest of her life. My torn abdominal muscle had been documented for well over a decade---repair had always been put off due to my weight. Through the years, I have had problems with skin rashes, as well as the thin skin tearing open, under my apron of skin. When it would not heal, I would go get a round of antibiotics----never really believing I would lose the huge amount of weight, let alone ever get rid of the belly----I thought I was doomed! Well years down the road, the band happened, and the weight lost, and the rashes and tears continued. My PCP referred me to the PS, who made a 10 page packet of information as well as tons of pictures to send to insurance. It just happened that the day he took the pics, I had a skin tear that was open and bleeding, so he documented it as well. Insurance approved me, I had surgery, then they sent a letter saying they were not paying because it was cosmetic. When the Dr. sent in the copy of the pre approval and re submitted the written documentation, they then approved and paid. But it was scary for awhile! Document everything, but also read the fine print, to be sure it is covered or you might find yourself with a huge medical bill. I hate dealing with insurance!!! It is so pathetic.....someone sitting at a desk, deciding MY health! Not me and my Dr. I pay all my premiums, and my co pays, and they can still decide if I get health care or not......so stupid! Kat

    Ok I Have Had It!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain.....my MIL is the same way.....with her, if you toast in the New Year....you are an alcoholic! It is only one of many of her judgemental ways----and she is a strict Church of Christ member who berates my family for attending a Methodist church with a woman pastor. My DH and I got into a huge fight last week, and part of it was me unloading about things that had been said to me when we were helping his parents the week before. He thought it over, and agreed with me amazingly!!! So the last couple of times we have been at their house, we can be sitting and visiting happily, and the second she says something negative in regards to our kids, or my family, he pops up from his seat and says to me "time to go" and we are outta there like a shot. We always hug them and tell them we love them and just leave! I know we should tell them why rather than hope they would figure it out.....but he is quick to react---------by leaving! I think I would just tell your Mom "I've heard this before, we will never agree, so I guess it is time for me to leave" and leave. If she sniffles and cries, she will get over it, it isn't as it what you said to her was mean. Then go back to see her soon, so she can see it is not HER as a whole you are avoiding, but her unwanted critisism of your friends....and stay until she says something again, repeat and leave. Soon if she really wants time with you she will reign in her opinions, I would think! I was shocked, yet pleased at my DH's response to his mother. She is extremely opinionated and unfair. She dogs on everyone except her perfect few, and even they get it on occasion, she come loose on his sister with us a few days ago, and cracked us up!!! That was before we began taking our leave when she went on a tear! Good Luck! Kat
  16. Denise, in Laura's defense, that is not a sex swing....that is a hammock chair, and it is what you hang from the hook, where your sex swing goes, when it is not in the closet!!! LOL!!! We did not make a movie. We did the music in the mountains, and did some shopping with the vendors, bought a cool wine rack. Went to dinner, come home and son and his family come over....and today we are doing Father's Day dinner, so looks like we missed the movie and I am as much to blame as anyone! I am supposed to go to a meeting today, but am not---it is Father's Day! The rodeo is getting close, and panic is setting in, so they schedule meetings every other day it seems! Pamela---sorry about the mix up on your dissertation---I hope it all works out ok. TracyK---did you want to look through these shirts or should I just Goodwill them? Laura great buy on the Entertainment center. Everyone be seriously cautious with buying anything of expense on Craigslist though! My son and DIL just got scammed out of $3200.00 for a car, and Craigslist, even though they have been presented with the police report etc. for the seller, still has the seller who is totally MIA, in good standing! The payment went through with Paypal, and even fooled them! It has been a real ordeal, and the police involved....local, as well as the Van Nuys CA, and Murray Utah---all locations involved in the scam----say they have tons of reports, and the majority are repeat offenders, because Craigslist will not cooperate! So get your good deals, but keep them local where you can pay in person and pick up! Saw 175 on the scale yesterday, then ate watermelon with lots of salt and 177 is back today!!! Well I am off to get some clothes on, jammies have to go....dangit! Kat
  17. Cup size is determined by the difference in the measurements between the fullest part of your breasts and the "band" measurement just under them. The bigger the difference the bigger the cup size. So if you did not lose breast density itself, just the side boobs and back fat----the difference in the measurements probably went up----therefore your cup size went up. At least that is how the woman who measured me 'splained it!!! Kat

    Stupid friends part deux

Just out of curiosity---does the friend have a weight problem as well??? I totally believe the answer to that question is relative to why she acted that way. I mean if she is a thin person, she may enjoy being the thin friend.....orbe mouthing off out of ignorance of the band. If she is heavy----it may be jealousy that you are doing something about it that she isn't. Tearing others down is some peoples way of building themselves up....it just doesn't work that way though! Sorry someone you are close to with the power to hurt you did so. Kat

    PS/stretch mark Question!

It all depends on where your stretch marks are, and how much they remove. If your stretch marks are limited to below the belly button, then most of them will be removed. I only had a few stretch marks from pregnancy, but had developed some through the years from weight gain, which made me bigger than any pregnancy did!! And now I have none at all. What I do have is a scar! So......it just depends.....some people have serious stretch mark issues, all the way around the side, and those would most likely not be dealt with, with the TT. I am smooth....unbelievably so!!! I have swelling still, and it is way worse on my left side.....but I am still totally thrilled with the result of the TT! Kat
  20. Good Morning! Wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing! I got up and dressed, ready to go, and we got the call that one of Rick's crew wrecked a truck, so he had to go see to that. We were/are headed to the mountains --into Telluride, for a Blue Grass Festival. Like to listen for a little while---then hit all the vendors, and things going on around the little mountain town. The town grows to 8 X's it's normal size for this! Then we planned to come back down to Durango and hit this restaurant called Steamworks for a special steamed seafood---(as in crawdads and stuff I do not eat!!) dump. They steam it, and just dump it by the bucket full on your table. I pick out the shrimp, and they eat all the rest with the icky stuff and the sausage!!! I order a salad, and am just as happy!!!! Well it looks like Rick may make it yet.....I never know! Hope everyone has a great weekend-----anyone got any FUN plans? We ARE doing a movie, Rick promised!! Kat

    Migraine Problem

If she has been prepping for this with weight loss already, it could be hormone related. I had migraines for years, they were always hormone related, they hit any time I had an estrogen surge. I was never able to be on the pill or anything due to that. Well a hysterectomy did away with my migraines, until a few days after being banded, and wham I got one, then another a few days later! When I mentioned it to the Dr. they explained that fat cells hold estrogen, and when you lose weight quickly it is dumped into your system. He said they would ease....and they did! I never got another until a couple of weeks ago, following my Tummy Tuck--PS said the exact same thing, that I had fat cells continuing to die off due to lack of blood flow following surgery, so I was getting a PMS size dose of hormones......just had the one. Not sure if this could be related or not...but thought it might shed a little light! Hope they get better, migraines are so painful. Kat
  22. I have found if I go VERY slowly with any new food, it allows me to find out how it is going, and if it is going to be a problem, then I do not have much of an issue, because I was going slowly. I am over 2 years out now, and have very few foods I do not eat---and of those, I CAN eat most of them, but they are not something worth the issues of eating them. When I began the process of figuring out food, and even now if I am feeling tight, I do this.... Cut my food up in very small bites. One piece at a time, chewed to oblivion! Then put my fork down, and wait...wait a full 2-3 minutes, it sounds quicker than it feels when you are waiting! But see how it feels in your stomach---if it feels as though it settled without issue, try another bite, and wait! If it is the first time I tried something known to be a trigger for some people, say rice....I would limit myself to 4-6 bites, and be done with it, in case it "reacted". The times I had nasty PB's I did not do this!!! The worst by far, come one day when we grabbed a donut, I ate 2 bites, probably way too big, but also way too fast, and not chewed properly, and before you know it, it felt like I had eaten a dozen donuts!!! My mouth was quickly filling with saliva---that kept getting thicker, and more kept forming, to the point I could not swallow any more, there was not anymore room, and it began to make me gag, and eventually it all come up, donut, and lots of slime---not pleasant at all!!! It totally turned me off of donuts!!! Another time, I was shopping with my granddaughter, and bought her some popcorn chicken, and popped a piece in my mouth without thinking, and reverted to old habits, chewed a couple of times and swallowed. About half way down I realized!!! Sure enough, when the sliming began, I just headed to the stores bathroom, to toss it all!!! Slow......well chewed bites, and allow yourself time to gauge how your stomach feels....and stop before you think you are full. If you wait until you feel full, when your stomach begins digesting, the saliva required for digestion, can be all it takes to make you overfull, then you will PB.....and it will have nothing to do with the food you ate----it will be due to eating too much. It sounds more difficult than it is. You just have to learn to listen to your own body, and stop early. If you become starved feeling later you can have a bite or 2 of something, but always try to stop with just enough, never over fill your pouch. And chew, chew, chew!!! Following these rules, I can eat all sorts of food, and yet have managed to lose my weight. I have never had a PB that caught me off guard, and was immediate, I always feel them coming, and can get to the restroom. Good Luck----be sure to follow your post op diet and it will be over sooner than you think!!! Kat

What to do with drunk drivers?

Where I live in NW New Mexico, we border the Navajo Indian Reservation. It is illegal to sell alcohol on the reservation, so there are hundreds of drunk drivers every night, trying to get home to the reservation----our DWI rates are horendous!!! It is not unusual to see in the paper someone arrested for their 10th or even 15th DWI----and those are the reported ones, off the reservation, ones they get on the reservation, do not count against them, and often times, the mere fact they live there, and are of Native American descent---changes how they are sentenced and charged. It is horrible!! Kat

I agree with calling and asking to be put onto the cancellation list, and maybe you will get lucky and get in early. My PS rescheduled me early on, and it put it back a couple of weeks, I was so disappointed--I was ready to get the show on the road!!! Hope you get a way to get in earlier, is there perhaps another nutritionist you could schedule with? Kat
