LBT was punishing me yesterday too~~~ I lost the ability to get on mid afternoon, and when I went to bed after 11, it was still a no go! Shame on me for whatever!!! Alex has a thread going about a new logo to vote on which one you like, so it sounds like that combined with the recent skin change he might be making some changes again, so maybe it had something to do with that....dunno, but I missed you guys!!! Haydee how fun a surprise concert!!! And what a concert!!!! I have started a bit of my shopping, nothing real big. We always buy all the kids and grandkids jammies, or lounge type things for the adults--including our parents. So as I have come across jammies that look like what I want for them, I grab them. I picked up lounge pants at KMart--the Joe Boxer simple things, on sale yesterday, so picked out the designs I liked for all the guys, now just need to match up a couple of long sleeved tshirts, I got the rest while I was there. But a couple of my guys are hard to fit....one pretty short (SIL) and one just round (FIL)!!! Get those and the guys are done! I have Manda and Kinsey both with birthdays prior to Christmas! Manda and Jasons house was remodeled by previous owners, and the former laundry room which was a room about 8'X8'---was abandoned as a laundry room, and opened up as an extra closet space off of Kinsey's room. Then the garage was remodeled and a large area was devoted to laundry room---with folding area, and all that jazz. Eventually since there is water lines and all to the room, they want to have a half bath put in....but not til she is older. They have been using it as a toy room. Manda has been slowly cleaning it out.....as her toy playing changed. For her birthday Manda and Jason bought her the little Rose Cottage----so the rest of us, bought the things to go in it. The washer dryer, nursery set, that kind of thing. She will love it, and with the extra room, she can leave it opened and set up. I got her a huge set of pretend food and my Mom got her a big set of play cookware, and cooking utensils. We bought the washer dryer set, so I am going to get her a bundle of the washcloths to go with it, so she has something to wash, and if they get mixed in to the family laundry---no biggie, and Kinsey loves to fold them!!! LOL We did the online pre black Friday Walmart thing---with the site to store free shipping.....and saved over half of the shelf marked price! If anyone is interested that does not already know about the site, it is www.blackfriday.com you can look through what they have on their ads early and decide if you can save or if it is worth getting up at 4 AM!!! And like I say Walmart has a different group of on line ads each week---some really good buys. And they are having specials shown on line you can buy in stores---for only a day or while stock lasts, but it is not advertised in the store. We got my folks (they got, we told them about!!!) a new TV for their bedroom, and 32" flat screen LCD HDTV for under $300.00!!!! Has helped my shopping a lot so far! Why I bother sometimes I wonder--------we have a room full of toys, and Kinsey is playing with a wooden cow from my shelf......go figure! Judy--I keep meaning to ask you if your friend was helped by the cardioversion---did it alleviate the A-fib?? Terry, I am not skinny---although there are times I feel totally skinny in comparison to where I started. BUT, I am showing myself #1 unable to lose what I have put on, and #2 unable to maintain. Both seriously mess with my mind! All those years I would get so irritated with people who whined about 10 pounds.....and I get it! It is as impossible for me to lose it on my own as 100 were! I feel betrayed by my body. Before when I was shoving tons of food in, and not minding what food it was---I felt at fault. Now I watch it, and eat a healthy diet---balanced. Not all protein, or anything, just a good balance, leaving out the refined carbs----and I get lots of water, and am actually getting some exercise---and I am slowly creeping up the scale, not down. I have journaled every bite --- and even going calorically as opposed to simply watching the health aspect of what I am eating----I am in the 1000-1200 range which should be a good intake for maintaining--and it isn't.....it is adding a half a pound every couple of days---the scale is just moving up! And I really seriously do not know why!....oh well, will keep at it. Enough of a book for now! Glad to be back on LBT!! Kat

I agree, actually having a band in the logo is kinda cool----and might actually help those researching to understand there is really nothing hanging out of you or anything!!! I have to laugh at some of the uninformed questions we get!!!! So #2 would get my vote too, although I like them all my choice would be #2. Kat
-
I agree Jane, you must live in the wrong area!! I pay more along the lines of Susanne---and that is to get the works!!! Which I seriously need to do, but am putting off spending the $$$......sounds like we all are on a spending diet, even if not a food one!!! LOL Kat

Heya girlies! Have been so lazy this morning, read the paper, had some breakfast....just vegged. Finally decided to get up, make the bed, clean up the kitchen. Now I need to get going outside!! We have most things done, but are going to re do some gutters today, send them running a different direction, so I was going to get everything ready for us to do it when Rick gets home. Yard looks so nice since we got it done yesterday! I say we, because when Rick got home, he and my brother got busy and replaced the muffler on my brothers truck, so guess who mulched leaves after all!!?? Was good exercise I kept telling myself----and for what? I was up 2 pounds on the scale this morning, and I have not cheated!! It really sucks! Been drinking my water, and watching my food, no useless carbs, no sweets, no breads, no potatoes.....and I gain weight??? Been concious of my portion size too! Guess I am going to go get a fill...I wanted to prove I could do it if something happen to my band, but I am proving I cannot! And I don't know what I am doing wrong. Depresses me! We are doing Thanksgiving here at our house....so need to get some plans going....do some delegating! We can't count on our youngest DD being here, her DH has to be at his family, and when they do stop by, she laughs and has so much fun, and he stands (yes stands he refuses to sit on our furniture usually) behind her bored. But the other 2 kids, and their spouses, will be here, and will bring things, and help out. As will my Mom. I am looking forward to it, even though right now I view food as my enemy!!! LOL Think the family would approve of a low carb Thanksgiving dinner??? What a joke, my DH thinks Thanksgiving dessert is what it is all about! I need to get busy and make my newest grandson to be a Christmas Stocking too! They are not real quick to get done....and there is always a chance he will be here by then. He is due New Years Eve! But that is only a week, and we all know they can easily choose to make an appearance before the due date! Well time to call Rick and update him on the game....will chat with y'all in awhile. Why do I have a craving for oatmeal cookies?? Y'all are evil! LMAO!!! Kat

The biggest difference I have found in TX is the people have a totally different attitude. Our place there is on the diagonal between Abilene and Austin. And no matter where we go, people are friendlier with very few exceptions! Salespeople, especially there is a huge difference in the attitude there and here in New Mexico! And they are PROUD to be Texans!!! You find roofs, barns, sheds, tents.....you name it, painted in the design of the Texas flag! And the star is everywhere! Here in NM, we have a very nicely designed state flag, would be easy to duplicate into things such as they do in TX.....but they don't! There is a huge controversy over whether the state has the right to use the Zia symbol, or whether it is strictly a Native American right. Those kind of arguements totally ruin this state. The division is deep, and while you would think it would get better, it doesn't. It is actually a breath of fresh air to see people who are proud of who they are.....by simply where they live. Not basing it on all the prejudices we live with here. Kat

Procrastinate??? Me too!! I did get all the totes to the shed, and clothes hung up. I did get the leaves dealt with....hired my brother!!! LOL Waiting for Rick to get here so we can go get his glasses, then maybe grab an early dinner, late lunch, and I won't have to cook!!! I am so mad!!! I missed one of the big craft fairs I always go to! It was today, and morning is the best time togo....dammit! The other one I hit is next Saturday---watch me miss it too..... grrrr Pamela, you poor thing, cooking and feeling bad! My friend Becky, her husband is sick, has been for 3 weeks now. He actually got over the being sick but has still not been able to get past the terrible diarrhea.....they are talking hospital now. He has lost 28 pounds! He looks horrible his skin is all gray---it is scary! It is not a virus which is what his Dr.'s keep saying, let it run its course. He is in the house with 6 other people, one a 3.5 year old who has had a cold, so his resistance is down, and no one else has had the bowel issue.....so I think he has some other issue, guess the ER Dr. thinks so too. I just got this catalog called "What On Earth" full of different goofy gifts. There is a MAN CAVE sign. Think I will make one for Ricks shop!!! LOL I do not need to buy one for $40.00!!!! Well my brother is hollering about what to do with things, guess this is not going to be as easy to shrug off on someone else as I had hoped!!! BBL~ Kat
-
Got up, read the new posts and was all ready to reply--and my brother showed up!!! Now I have about a dozen irons in the fire, and need to get started!!! Gotta go with Rick to get his new glasses. We are going to get the rest of the leaves up, if we have to pick them up one at a time by hand, I am sick of them being in the yard!!! Need to take my Dad to town to the bank that is open on weekends, and to the insurance office, and to pick up the car he is buying......lets see what else???? Oh yeah, I have 3 totes of Halloween things, and 2 of summer clothes to go to the shed--that will be a nice workout in and of itself!!! Will check in later today......have a GREAT weekend everyone....feel better FAST Pamela!!! Kat

I had a hiatal hernia repaired during my banding, and even with that, I found it to be an easy surgery. The 3rd day I had 5 hours by car, and 5 in the air to get home, and did it all with a dose of liquid Tylenol. By the next week I was shopping....my DD was remodeling a home and I was the "gopher". I have no idea what the surgery would have been like without the hernia repair, but it did not cause me to be sidelined......and I was twice your age!!! Good Luck!!!! Kat
-
Back home again! Did my errands and tried to go ride....but it is super windy, and as a rule horses don't like wind. When you see them in the field they will all have their heads down, keeping their nostrils out of the rush of air.....and they can't do that when being rode....so when it kept causing her to toss her head, we went home...... So come and got my Mom and we did some shopping, got most of the non parishables for Thanksgiving, and she got about 1/2 her Christmas shopping done. We had a burger for lunch and come home. I did eat the burger---no fries. I have beans in the crockpot for dinner. Rick wanted beans and homemade tortillas.....easy enough, and I made a pan of chili to go with it--because personally I like it that way!! LOL So dinner is done. I have had a couple of bottles of water so about 40 oz. and have a 32 oz. Diet DP I am sipping at now....will ditch it in a bit and get my water bottle going again! I come home to an angry letter from my Aunt. I sent her a quick letter and a picture of the grandkids. She was insulted because I typed the letter and envelope, obviously she was not important enough to warrant a handwritten letter she thinks. That if I had enough time to sit down and type it, I could have written it to her and it would have been so much more personal.....blah, blah, blah! My first instinct was to sit down and type her another letter telling her in great detail about the night my ex husband busted 3 of the 4 fingers on my right hand, and while keeping them moving is fine to keep them bent for long as in writing or crocheting or things anymore it hurts.....and that if she didn't like my typed letters, I simply would not bother anymore at all! I held back and am trying to figure out how to respond....I want to make her feel like crap for it tho! Wake up everyone!!! Enjoy the game tonight Laura! What kind of shin dig you got going tonight Haydee? Judy did you say what you were going to go watch at the movie? Oh and yes Pamela, we did go to see Appaloosa! It was filmed in the Chama/Raton area it looked like. I have been on the train they showed! That train actually crosses a HUGE trellis bridge over the royal gorge--scared the you know what outta me!!! We both liked the movie....we snuggled and munched popcorn! Was before my "diet" began!!! Oh and Laura, back a ways you ask about us getting kicked out of breakfast......we didn't technically get kicked out, we were ask to keep it down....and we found it both hysterical and insulting and we left as quickly as we could. It was in Gruene, at the breakfast buffet they had. Everything that was being said was funny--and Haydee's tongue twisting over the work horticulture put us over the edge--we were cracking up and apparently disturbing the other diners!!! Which was bogus, because there was a couple of tables laughing with us! Not all of us were there....and it is hard to snort scrambled eggs out your nose! Kat

I too would have trouble, and I think if you have experienced the same or similar issues, it makes it easier to do, or to advise. My oldest DD suffered for years with hyper-hydrosis. She sweat like crazy! No odor just serious sweating. She wore black every single day....so the arm stains were not visible. Then she found out about a medication, that has been around for years, got her Dr. to prescribe it, and has been on cloud 9 and wearing every color of the rainbow since. About a month ago, my Mom was at church and they have a meet and greet time leading into the service, and she went up to a man they have known for several years, and was going to hug him, and he backed away, and quite embarrassedly told her he sweats really bad, and did not want to gross her out. Mom said she felt so bad for him. When my DD heard, she was in the pew next to him the next week---he had never seen her before in his life! Services ended, and she had my Mom introduce them, she told him she hoped it did not offend him but her Grandma told her that he had the same sweating problem she had had for years, and she gave him a paper she had wrote down the name of her Rx on. He was not embarrassed acting she said, he seemed thrilled to hear there might be a different answer, they compared all the burning antiperspirants they tried....yadda,yadda, yadda. Just last week, she called me from work, and he had through my Mom, found out where she worked, and had flowers delivered to her from he and his wife. He said he ask his Dr. about it, they tried it, and he is finding success with it. Told her she was his own personal angel! So like ER says-----sometimes in some cases there is relief in being able to talk about these things, and shared info might eradicate the problem. All that being said-------I would be to wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!!! Kat

When we had our bigger house we had a massage table set up permanently in the spare room, and we bought it at Sams Club. It had heavy wood legs, and was solid! When we opted to downsize, we went back to having only one real spare room (grandkids claim the other!!), so we found one through Walgreens, that folds, it holds up to 425 pounds . It is not wobbly or anything. It is not real easy to put up and down....so it remains up unless we have company or something. We took a massage class, as well as reflexology classes through our local community college. My DH has degenerative bone disease in his neck, so I even had his PT show me how to best massage it. One of the best buys we ever made! Years and years ago we quit buying each other gifts for birthdays and Christmas....and instead buy something together for ourselves or take a trip. Our birthdays fall 2 weeks apart. The massage table was one of our first combined gift purchases-----we filled one another stockings with oils and creams, made it a fun time!!! But WELL worth the $$$ spent! Kat

Does that mean you are not going to be at our cryptically, secretively planned meeting on Friday Judy??? It was your turn to pick the restaurant and beauty shop.....tho how they can improve on Michelles curly eye brows I don't know!!! I had wierd dreams too after going back to bed. I had a friend over (Marie I speak of) and she had lost lots of weight, so I was going to give her a couple of pairs of jeans because she had none, and when I went to my closet all my clothes were gone.....mind you the floor was still 3 feet high with junk--but ALL my clothes were gone. I looked over, and my dresser had been emptied and my jewelry box on top emptied and broke. I ran around like a mad woman screaming Oh My God! over and over.....wierd. Maybe it means I need a new wardrobe???? Did ok with eating yesterday---kept the carbs real low until dinner, then had the pot pie with Rick, but only ate a small portion, and then had extra veggies. I know most fruits and vegetables are not low carb---BUT my health is important here too!!! So being careful with my diet, not obssessive with it. Got my water in. Finally broke down (stupid...STUPID) and had a glass of tea with caffeine to ease my headache. I know it was close to going away if it was caffeine withdrawal, but I needed to sleep.....it only semi helped, still hurts but not so badly. Gotta go to the bank today, and probably run to town and pick up a few things for the house, that I can have for snacking etc.....things to keep me honest!! Haydee that is too bad about the camera. What kind of camera was it? Did you stop and get it? If it was digital, even if the camera was destroyed the card should be fine with the pics on it. TracyKS---did the Dr. tell you a time to take the meds? I know my Mom has to take hers at night because then the sleepiness wears off for her the next day. But they have helped with her doom and gloom attitutude!!! Good Luck with Robby's visit. I know just getting that figured out, will ease your mind a lot! I realize you have lots of other things on your plate---but getting your son figured out, will help lots I think. Well I need to go get some things done. Kinsey is still asleep, so I am going to get my chili made....too much chile powder for her to be around---she would breath it, or wipe her eyes.....rather do it without her!!! BBL~ Kat

Breastfeeding in public:
Kat817 replied to Wheetsin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wheetsin, when you introduce the bottle with breastmilk in it, make it the rarity in the beginning---stick mostly with the breast as much as you can. When my granddaughter was born, she was a preemie, and did not have a sucking instinct, combine that with my DD being VERY well endowed and the baby could not latch on. DD worked with a lactation specialist both in the hospital and after going home. She pumped and with work they finally got the baby to suck a bottle, but it is so much easier, she would never even try to latch on to the breast. I got used to talking to my DD on the phone and hearing the rhythmic sound of the pump going in the background!!! She pumped and fed for a year...then my granddaughter refused the bottle, and would never take the breast milk in a sippy cup. That being said, for a 4 pound baby-----she is going to be 4 years in a couple of weeks, and we could count on one hand how many times she has been sick. Her Mom, my DD, was breastfed for about 18-20 months, and had so many ear infections they had me almost keep her standing up to feed----not a comfy position for either of us!!! When we graduated from ear infections we went to strep throat----I bet her medical file would be 4 inches thick. Got rid of the tonsils at 12, and she has seldom been sick since. Makes me wonder if they were not the problem from early on...... Point being, sometimes no matter how hard you try to do the "right" thing, it is not perfect, and it is not a reflection on whether you did right or wrong! I vote for a simple covering, as was stated before, to keep the babies interest in the breast, NOT in everything else around them. Usually beginning that way from newborn, they become accustomed to that. Enjoy your time with that new little girl!!! Kat -
The original post brings to mind the saying that just because you are on a diet does not mean you can't look at the menu! I too began my DH's subscription to Playboy many, many years ago----when a friend of his joked that him getting married meant the end to his porn days. Nowadays.......he quotes more politics from the mag than anything about the women!!! LOL we really ARE getting old!!! As for the happy ending......I would let it be known if he comes home all relaxed.....I would provide the happy ending in a much better fashion. If he still chose the massage happy ending then you bet your a$$ it would be cheating in my book!!! Let your husband read this thread.....then maybe that would open conversation between the 2 of you whether you want to spice things up a bit in the bedroom, or if it is just something he prefer remain a fantasy. What could it hurt? All of this is coming from anonymous people to you..... Kat
-
Well he was comatose when close talker did it, and I think he seriously thought I had lost it when I first told him!! Now he believes, he has seen how wierd he is!!! Kat
-
My DH works with a guy who has no personal space bounderies....makes me crazy! A couple of years ago my DH had a life threatening GI bleed following mismanaged coumadin therapy for a heart valve surgery, and the close talker come to the hospital....and talked to me very closely for waaaaay too long. Then he brought out this little stone box, he said a prayer, and held it under DH's nose, then put the lid on, and handed it to me and told me Rick's soul was now in there. FREAKED me out he was so wierd......however I have NEVER opened the friggin' box either!!!! Kat
-
I hope our "lurker" means the 4 legged ones and not me!!! Hmmmmmmm. Kat

I think it is whatever your individual body is used to....if your body is used to processing certain foods, it learns to digest them without so much problem. For instance ....beans.....if you eat them only occasionally they will usually gas you up something awful!!! But if you eat them in a small amount daily, you eventually have no issue with them. Years ago, I had a roommate who was hispanic, and she ALWAYS had a pot of Beans cooked, and she ate them every single day with some meal, in all sorts of ways. Well when money got tight for us as it usually does young people-----I too began eating them---OMG I about blew us out of the house for awhile!!! But before long, I had no side effects from them at all. So if you rarely eat high Protein foods, eating them WILL upset your digestive system....and cause gas, or diarrhea, or what have you. And if you give the fibrous, notorious gas causers a chance, you can adjust your body to them. Well that is how I figure it anyway!!!! LOL Kat
-
I always thought it was a PINK elephant, maybe in this case it is VIOLET????? hmmmmmmm........ Kat

Laura you laugh about your kids being a couple, Becky and I are already living it! She has a grandson 2 months younger than Kinsey and he is in love with her.....and she him. If his Daddy calls Manda, which they do, they were raised so closely, it is like her brother---the kids have to talk. So Manda was saying she talked to Ray (Becky's grandson) the other night and during the conversation Kinsey is saying "I can't do that it is dark, and my Daddy won't let me!" Of course that perked up Daddy's ears so he ask what she was talking about and she said Ray wanted to meet her!!! Then they talked about dogs and candy, then he wanted to talk to Manda---so she is talking to him and she ask him so what do you do when you are Kinsey's boyfriend? His answer? Go Trick or Treating! So she says what if it isn't Halloween, and he replied, we meet and hung up!!! They live with Becky and Gary right now as they are saving to buy a home, and Becky said it is a riot to hear them talk. She said they try so hard to be adult! And she said the only way they can get Ray to eat anything green---as in veggies---is to say Kinsey only likes boys who eat them! He went as a cop for Halloween, and Beck said he arrested her the other night, put handcuffs on her and told her "now just calm down little lady!" So years and years ago, Becky and I thought maybe we could hook Manda and Chris up.....but it waited a generation! And whatever that baby in there is...boy/girl....as soon as it is born it will be exactly what you want, and perfect! Pamela, my cousin here says the same thing about some of the mandated testing....she said she can teach but they just want her to pretty much teach so that they can pass these tests and nothing else---she says it disgusts her. I wanna come treasure hunting Tracy!!! We have had renters move out in the night, they seldom leave much behind other than a mess! And we have had some perfectly normal seeming people make the nastiest wierdest messes you can imagine! Omelet for breakfast, salad for lunch, handful of almonds and a slice of cold bacon so far today----60 oz of water in, and still drinking! The scale better cooperate with me! Decided my head hurt to bad to sling a saddle or anything today.....so am sitting here in complete silence, or would be if the neighbor would turn off the damn chipper machine he is using to mulch his leaves.....grrrr, he has it or the damn blower going all day long. Well, I am going to go find something I can get ready to call dinner, thinking I have things to throw together a chicken pot pie kind of thing, Rick loves them. To bad he doesn't like frozen ones!! LOL Kat
-
Have fun at the ball Cinderella....be home by midnight!!! And don't slop your dripper!!! Pamela.....I have been busy chopping veggies, and am breaking my own rules and sitting here munching my salad while Kinsey eats hers, and watches a movie she loves....normally I do not allow us to do anything but eat, but today we are cheating!! She is having a birthday in a couple of weeks....I think I am going to get her one of the kids digital cameras. She loves using mine, and this one is kid tough! Get her started early on enjoying photography. Her Daddy is quite artistic with a very different eye, he always takes pics on an angle or with wierd lighting, maybe she will get his edge! So what kind of test are the kids taking??? Could I pass it, I don't think I am smarter than a 5th grader after watching a few of the shows on TV!!! Still fighting off a throbbing headache....and I want to get some things boxed and taken to the shed this afternoon, and really don't feel like doing anything! Thinking if Kinsey leaves early about taking a ride, headache or not.....it always makes me feel refreshed. Anyone got any good ideas for dinner???? Kat
-
Good morning girls, Well Kinsey is here, and breakfast has been made--the day is started! She come in the door before 6 this morning wanting to make omelets! I convinced her to go back to sleep for awhile, and then when she woke up we would make them. She gets the greatest joy out of cutting everything up, so she wants everything imaginable in her omelet!! Today we had ham, mushrooms, onion, green pepper and cheese.....oh yeah with a little egg wrapped around it all!!! She eats it all though, so it is good. In awhile we decided we needed to make a salad for lunch-she is thrilled, more chopping! She loaded the dishwasher while I cooked the omelet! Things are in a little haphazzardly, but they are out of the sink! She has mastered cracking the egg....and we have had no cutting accidents....except Granny!!! I cut myself one day looking at her rather than what I was doing. What a lesson! She KNOWS they cut now, and is super careful! Of course I imagine she will be like all kids, and by the time she can do these things herself and be really helpful, she won't want to!!! Laura, I was going to tell you about my cousin in Grand Junction, she has a 13 year old son, and finally with intervention of drugs became pregnant again. They found she was carrying twins and the untrasound told her they were fraternal and both girls. Since she already had a son she was thrilled, and went wild with pink.....my Aunt said the nursery is all pink with ballet dancing hippo's over each of the cribs....she said it was adorable. They scheduled her for c section because the one baby refused to move for the last month, and they were afraid she would present breech. They delivered the first little girl no problems, she was almost 6 pounds, then the 2nd one....and it is a BOY!!!!!!!!! Originally the girls were to be Kamryn and Kassidy----now she has Kamryn and Carson. When I heard the name I thought of you! I think my Mom said his middle name was Nash or something, I don't remember. Anyway I guess they are madly redoing some of the nursery and had to rush out and buy blue! I know if they had been wrong with Kinsey, it would have been disaster, it looked like a bottle of pepto bismal exploded in her closet, everything was pink!!! And Connor would have been a little girl wearing lots of denim and cammo!!! Yesterday I did GREAT!!! Got my water in, over 100 oz., I had nothing sweet, and very few carbs. I stayed busy....only snacked once, and then I had a celery stick with peanut butter....avoiding the sweets, detoxing my body has given me a massive headache again tho. Got the eliptical uncovered....but my head hurt too bad to even think of riding it yet....it throbs with the beat of my heart, so I do not want to increase my heart rate! When it warms up a bit, it is still only 32 out---Kinsey and I are taking a walk, fresh air will help I hope. Guess I will go make the bed, and get dressed! It is about that time!!! Talk to y'all in awhile!!! Kat

I posted these questions in the fill forum yesterday but no one answered..please help
Kat817 replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Restriction is as different among us as what each of us can and cannot eat. I do know that sometimes it is the smallest of amounts that makes the difference! I have the older, smaller band which should hold 4cc's. On my first fill post surgery he added 1.25 cc's. I did not get much restriction from it, I did notice I had to slow down, but could still eat way more than I should. So I used my will power a bit! Then my 2nd fill I went in, and he only added .50 cc's--1/2 a cc? I was mad!!! I thought it was a money issue, since I pay for my fills, I mean really, 1.25 barely made a change, and now I get less than half of that? But I am pretty non confrontational, so I let it go, and told myself, next time I will speak up! So when my liquids were done, and I tried to eat-------holy crap, I was so tight, only 3-4 bites and my meal was DONE! I did not PB or hurt, I was just done. I was worried then that I would not get proper nutrition! But in a short while the weight lost, helped ease it some, and I never, ever got another fill! I made it to goal with those 2 fills---and the little bitty 1/2 cc---was the clincher!!! So do not give up hope, the right amount of fill is out there for you, and when you sneak up on it, it will work for you! I had my fill removed in April for my TT--and have yet to fill again---but have recently put on some pounds, so will watch VERY closely, then I am heading back for a fill!!! Sometimes threads move really slow, and no one answers, and other times they move so fast, your question gets buried really quickly. If those things happen, just bump your question a couple of times to bring it back to the top, and if you still don't get any responses, you did great, tried another forum area----and you can always call on one of us mods to answer any of your questions-------we might not have the answer, but we can ask around for you! Good Luck---hope this fill works wonders for you! Kat -

I haver been unfilled since April. I was unfilled in preparation for my tummy tuck. I live 6 hours from my band Dr. and my surgeon preferred me to be unfilled for the surgery. It was done in his office, and not a big deal--the unfill I mean! I had my TT, and was able to maintain without much issue at all. Then about the middle of Sept. I got a stomach virus and puked for hours--finally meds kicked in and it eased, but I was not able to keep anything down, even after I felt better, and the illness went away. I struggled with it for days, actually for almost 2 weeks. Eventually not even liquids would pass. I originally thought I had swollen my stomach around the band area, and just needed to give it time to reduce in size. When that didn't happen I saw my Dr. and I was put on IV hydration, and went to see my band surgeon expecting that I had slipped. When he did his testing, we found my real problem was a twisted intestine! I had surgery for it, and he said he removed the last bit of Fluid from my band, while he was inside, and manipulated the intestine back to proper position. Well that little bit of saline that had remained in the band despite the unfill, was helping a lot! Since the intestinal surgery, it is much harder to maintain my weight. I am struggling with some pounds I put on during this time, and am considering a fill in the near future. It is MY doing, I KNOW I am eating wrong, so first I want to wrap my head around things....and try to gain some control on my own. The unfill is definitely the way to go if you are experiencing pain or serious reflux, that can cause damage to your esophagus, and lead to a diseased esophagus, which is not what you want!! If you have more removed, just do your best to continue to eat like a bandster--------and to exercise, use the lessons that the band taught you to continue on, then re fill at a slow and steady pace....which is my plan!!! Good Luck!! Kat
