    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Hey y'all---will be around to post tomorrow, I am staying home, with Kinsey, so Manda can go to work. She has been off all week with Kinsey being sick. Today she spent ALL day dealing with Dr.'s. Ends up that Kins has a UTI. They figure the headstrong child, held her urine as long as she could since it burned the raw places she had from the life jacket fiasco. And she did it for so long, that she had actual crystals in her urine. And they cause little nicks and cuts in the urinary tract, and now it is swelling, and causing horrid infection. She had several tests, and while the kidney function is slow, they are both working, and urine is free flowing. So now she is on a drinking regimine----she is being force fed lots to drink! But Manda said she is doing pretty well with it. Granny is going to have to be hard nosed with it tomorrow too!! Haydee, enjoy the preparations! Trhough the little touches you share the love you have for Juan, and also the love you have for those you are sharing it with. I always think that with ANY invitation or announcement, or photo cards....that the person who chose it from all the others wanted it to be special---and therefore it IS! Laura, you can make the wedding, a 2nd honeymoon, and enjoy all the things with Russ!!! Judy, poor Kris, letting them cry is so hard, but it is usually the only way! So glad he adjusted quickly---for ALL of you! You might not have been awake, but you worried about them both! Michelle, hoping for no chemo for MIL. What a wonderful thought that no one ever have to suffer through that again.....hoping she escapes it totally!! Jane...I miss you!!! If Rick doesn't make the trip---wanna be my roomie again??? Pamela, so glad you are feeling better. I was getting worried---you had been sick for awhile! I too like the old style soups----not big on the chunky veggies in the others, they are too mushy, and I am a texture-phobe with food!!! I always eat the Chicken noodle when I am sick! And the tomato with grilled cheese when the weather begins to get cold!!! I can only eat a quarter of a grilled cheese sandwich, but I still do it!! LOL Phone---- c ya!

Home Thread...for the thread homeless :)

Kinsey was in the Dr. this week for a UTI. They think the chaffing from the life jacket issue caused her to not want to pee---because it burned the raw areas, so she held it in. So seriously that she actually has crystalizations in the urine. It is cutting the urinary tract, and causing swelling. Her kindeys were not producing well, but they got the antibiotics started, and she is being forced to drink LOTS---and certain things---and is already doing better. I am actually staying home with her tomorrow---we do not see patients on Thursday, so I am staying home while her Mom goes to work since she has been off all week. Wow, to sum up what I have learned from my band. I eat slower. I chew well. I put my fork down between bites. I consider MOST things for nutritional value before eating them....MOST of the time! If I want the scale to move...I HAVE to drink lots of water, and I HAVE to move my butt. I do not eat after 7 PM If I get more than a night or 2 of acid reflux---I worry! Time for a slight unfill---it is NOT anything to mess with. And the thing I suggest from experiencing this last year---is not to let a regain in weight get away from you. When it hits 10 pounds----FIND out the problem, and do what you can to deal with it. Losing it the 2nd time has been slower, and more difficult! And finally-----I feel like if your head is not in the game, and you are able to eat....we will. We did not get MO with willpower! IF we could have lost the weight and kept it off without the intervention of the band, we would have done so. So if there is something going on, and you are gaining, spend as much time examining inside your head as you do examining what goes on your plate.

Back to school time increases the patients we see with pink eye--conjunctivitis--by easily 7 or 8 times. Seriously! So everywhere those kids go--grocery store, malls, etc----anything they have touched since rubbing their eyes, harbors the germs--laying in wait for you to touch and then touch your own eye. They laugh at me at work, because I wash my hands so frequently, and rather than a pretty bouquet of flowers on the corner of my desk---I have Clorox wipes!!! I wipe down every door knob, light swithch, chair arms, every surface that I cannot spray with Lysol! Duct implants are growing in popularity big time. We are doing more of them all the time. Dinner is ready timer just rang (nope not the smoke alarm!) catch y'all later!!!

Dang y ou Jen!!!!!!!!!! Now I have the Flintstones song in my head! Grrrrr!!!! Feel better soon Pamela--so sorry you are having such a time getting well. As for the shot----we always do the flu shot, not sure at this point about me and the H1N1--but Rick will take it, with his heart valve, flu could be deadly. Gotta go to work-----bye all!

Home Thread...for the thread homeless :)

Ok, I subscribed to this thread the day Tracy started it, because I did not have time to post before work. I talked to her, but only for a short time while she was in LA-------and intended to ask her about it. Went looking for it this morning! LBT must have ate my request, I have received no notifications and had hell finding y'all!!! I have not read the last several pages---going to try to before work----but wanted to post HEY to all my old (no offense intended!!!!) girls---and say hi to the new ones!! Will post when I read up----but at least now I BETTER receive notices, and be able to find the thread!!! BTW---for the new ones, I am Kat, live in NM, have been married for years, tho it took a long time and a couple of tries to find the right one!! Have 3 kids and 6 grandkids. I was banded in April of 06--lost to goal, had a set back, and am now working to lose the last of it AGAIN!!! Has been a great experience, would do it again in a second! BB after reading!! Probably after work Tracy---hope your trip was fun, ours was GREAT!!!!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

We are home from my DH's cardiology appointment, and he got all good news!!! His Echo looked good, EKG looked good, no need for further testing this year. His profusion rate is PERFECT! His BP, and heart rate a tad low---which is not bad since he was in A fib for so long with a resting heart rate of over 130! They lowered his meds. His cholesterol, is perfect, she said she would be happy, out of work, but happy if she had an entire patient load of people like him!! We don't have top go back til next year! Now I have to head to work. Rick is going back in to talk to the guy---at his invite--over lunch today with the new job. I think he has it, IF they will start insurance immediately---no waiting period. Fingers crossed! We have a game tonight--LATE 9:30! Will try to get in between work and that....if not....hugs!

I agree Plain, time to watch Roadhouse....I was so sad to hear he had lost the battle, it was one that little hope held out for, but I guess a part of me was still hoping. On a brighter note, we are home from my DH's cardiology appointment, and he got all good news!!! It is always such a relief! He began with a sudden onset mitral valve failure, set up an immediate surgical date, then during angioplasty to check the state of the arteries, they caused a blood clot in the ileac. So heart surgery was postponed while that resolved--- 3 months later -- by then the heart had enlarged dangerously. They did the surgery, reduced the size of the heart as well, and all looked good. Then the same morons who were responsible for the blood clot, mismanaged his coumadin therapy, and he had a massive GI bleed due to a bilateral tear of the esophagus ( a Mallory Weiss tear KC). Almost lost him with that one, spent forever in ICU. Made it through that, but all the drugs and blood they gave him to stop the bleed obliterated the maze procedure they had done when downsizing the heart, and threw him into A fib--- but they could do nothing until he healed enough from the bleed to intubate him! Was a horrible (not to mention crippling financially) time. So to go and get ALL good news is such a huge relief!!! Back to the real world for me, and off to work I go. Softball game tonight, not sure if I'll make it back here or not----have fun!

'night all, we are leaving fairly early tomorrow--thinking of taking my laptop, but not sure if I will actually use it, might just have a technology free weekend!!! IF--and that would be a huge gigantic IF my DH's employees would quit calling! They are his friends, he is Dad to half of them, they call about everything! I call them employees....for lack of knowing what to call them! He is their boss, but they all work for the same company. There are several who work for other men in the same dept. they all call my DH for everything, whether it is a work issue, or what! One got drunk, and his wife called wanting DH to talk to him, and calm him down. Helllllllooooooo!!!!????? He just treats them all as if they matter, (which they DO) and not everyone gets that. They are ALL stressing the lay offs and he is kind to them. BUT he IS leaving his phone at home! YAY!!! See y'all when we get back.....after I spend hours catching up I'm sure!!!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday SnT--doing only things you enjoy from sun up til you are snoring away!!! We fiddle farted around all day long--did a little of this and a little of that! Now DH is mowing the yard, and I am packing us to go to Albuquerque for the next couple of days. He has his annual cardiology appointment Monday morning. The state fair is going on in ABQ now, so we are going to go down and go through it, and spend some time away from home, and our jobs!!! We try to go every year, and just enjoy. We have no set plans this year, no concert on tap or anything. The one silly thing we have ALWAYS done, is to squeeze into one of the photo booths that prints out the strip of 4 pics. We have them in chronological order, in a clip here on the computer bulletin board, we laugh over them! I will say we both fit in there much better than we used to!!! And I do not object to getting them, I used to bi*ch up a storm over it!! Lu--- glad you get to snuggle down at home....since that is what you prefer, I totally understand! We grilled a nice ribeye out, had some fresh squash from the garden, and ate early.....just cuz we CAN! Everyone have a great evening!!!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

It just struck me as funny Laura, because I knew she was getting them from somewhere, I figured a calendar, or email, but she is listing them daily....as her little motivational tidbits....in exact order tho! I have wonderful news tonight----for me! DS turned down the transfer, said if they have to lay him off, then get to it. He was not willing to take his sons away from family, nor was he willing to move that far away from his daughter. Wow.....responsibility...out of him??? Who woulda thunk it!!! LOL!!! I know my kids may not always live close, and it was not that type of thing I was so worried about. Yes it was sad, and I felt sorry for myself over it, I just worried. Garrick is holding his head up, and looking around, following things already! He turned a month old on the 7th---it is going by soooo fast! He is losing his hair....but not in the usual baby pattern across the back of the head from laying on it. He is losing his like a man with male pattern baldness! The top front of his little head is smooth---it is so freaking cute!!! We tell him he looks like his uncle and great grandpa! Rick missed that gene, every other man in the family is bald---Rick has a head full of hair, he keeps buzzed just as short as we can get it without using a Bic!! And the rest of them are super hairy---chests, legs, beards etc. Not Rick!! He is the opposite of them all! We had company all evening, a guy Rick works with hung out. We never got the steak grilled, so guess we will do it tomorrow! I am off to play a couple of games and go to bed. I made myself put down my book, or I would be up all night reading! See ya tomorrow.

There is a woman on my FB, that I knew when I was a kid, have not seen her in years, and she has been posting these, one at a time, like she has some wise insight. I about cracked up when I read them here. She was not the sharpest crayon in the box back then.....guess some things never change!!! Suzie, there are several things I wish I had taken heed of in the list before now......both in financial consideration, and emotional...

Tap, if you are one of the bandsters who can manage it, you might take some Ibuprofin for the inflamation and pain involved. These type of infections flare when school begins. Even if you are not in school, anything you touch, that someone might have touched that was infected....a door knob, shopping cart....and then touch your own eye, and bingo! Transfer of infection. I had a friend who is a beautician buy me some high dollar hand cream, because I wash my hands so many times a day---trying to avoid those infections! Hope it feels better soon.

Tap, sounds like you may have conjectivitis---AKA pink eye! With drops, tilt your head all the way back, with your eye closed and head tipped slightly put the drops in the corner of your closed eye. Then slowly roll your head the other way and open your eye a slight bit, it will roll right in, you will never see it coming, and it does not splash. If you have allergy issues, this works especially well as the inner corners are especially sensitive to itching---and this allows the medicine to sit there temporarily. This is how the Dr. I work for teaches patients to administer their own eye meds. Good luck---there is some OTC meds out now for pink eye. But they are not comparable to a quick RX. In the meantime, warm saline compresses will help soothe it. Soak a washcloth in warm saltwater, wring it out, and let it lay on your eye several times a day, when it cools it is done. Hope it feels better soon.

I am another really lucky wife here, my DH has ALWAYS provided well for us. I went to work when I did, as a proactive move with the lay offs looming. It allowed us to pay down some debt, pay off our car, and eliminate some payments, just in case he does end up on unemployment. He has resume's out---and an interview on tap. Fingers crossed. My best friend has ALWAYS had to be the bread winner. Her DH---is a nice guy---but as lazy as the day is long! He works for awhile, and gets hurt. Then has to wait out the injury. He DID get hurt the last time, unintentionally, he actually seemed to be liking that job. But he milked that for years! Then bragged it up that he had a settlement of over $100K. Uhhhh yeah I told him, but how many years did it take? 5? That means it was worth 20 grand a year? Meanwhile my friend works steady, has been at her current job for a dozen years---same with the one before that....while he does crap! He does not cook and clean while he is at home, she has to take care of the house too. He hurts too bad to work, but he can hunt and fish (although hunters like him are how vegetarians came to be)---and he can ride a motorcycle, but loading the DW hurts his neck. Yeah, my a$$!!! DH knows I would have kicked him out years back! If I was going to do it alone, I'd damn sure DO IT ALONE! I can totally understand where you are at Beth, and I would imagine all that time, allows for the other old problems to rear their ugly heads---with all the computer time. So sorry you are dealing with such crap! Ebony----are you documenting all this? With responses to the allegations, that are not listened to in the meetings??? I would, and you know there are REASONS some people file harrassment lawsuits or discrimination lawsuits---there ARE people who abuse the right, but there are people who deserve to be treated fair and you are NOT being! In the meantime, enjoy your time off! Well I am off to enjoy my jammies and my book!!! Night all!

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

I got the box from my band, as well as a card, showing what the band is, how it works, and the product number on the card----as well as my name, and date it was inserted. I think the plan you have makes perfect sense. A temporary fix, if you will, allowing you to work the band as before, and revise after the next little one. Are you stopping at 2 kids, even if the next one is another boy? LOL Like that is ANY of MY business!!!! Haydee, I so feel your pain with your MIL. Mine can be such a royal PITA, and yet she can be so loving! She has a streak for being petty and mean, and like I say always has to pit me in a contest with my SIL, her DD---so I will NEVER win! I don't want to! She would never win if MY Mom was judging!!! I just wish she would let us each do our thing, and not blame me when my SIL is not doing well! I think Pamela's advice was spot on. After you talk to her, it will either show you that she will do as you ask, or she will ignore your request, THEN you can freely whine to Juan!!! LOL I made our motel reservations today for going to ALBQ----sooooo ready to go. I kinda waited today to see if my OM or the Dr. would mention their actions from yesterday, they acted like nothing happen. I am still frosted over it. I think they know that. Went to dinner tonight with Rick's family for his Mom's birthday. Was nice, but I was so ready just to get my jammies on and veg out! My son was late showing up, and when he did, he had my older grandkids with him. Was so good to have them there. And my son has been cigarette free for 2 days now. He IS a bit grumpy!!! But not sure that was all. When we got there, Connor would not settle down, and so he picked him up so my MIL could get a kiss. He just kinda grabbed him by the elbows and picked him up facing out, for my MIL to kiss, and Connor totally unintentionally kicked backwards, and got him right in the crotch. He managed to sit him down, and doubled over! He held his temper, which surprised me! But he was a grouch!!! Jane---Kinsey loves my lotion, she thinks it makes her reeeeeally soft! Like at 4 she has any skin worries!!! Well I am off to veg with my book, and do NOTHING!!! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.........
  17. LOL BJean, I read through things too quickly as well, some more than others!! I think Richardson had a big hand in the NM lottery. It is actually set up along with another program called ---oh hell, something with "a Dream", lost it (old timers kicking in!) Anyway it is a program that the parents sign their kids up for in 8th grade. Beginning in 8th grade, the parents pay $10.00 a month and when the kids graduate, their first years tuition is paid. It sends a contstant message through the years that the kid is going to college. The lottery scholarship requires either a certain GPA---3.0 as well as a HS diploma to get it from the beginning. If you have less than a 3.0, or a GED, then it requires YOU pay for the first semester, and maintain a 2.5 GPA, then you are eligible. Even in the economic downturn there has been no talk I have heard of with changing it. Of course my kids are all through school, and grandkids no where near college age. There are federally funded programs for the Native Americans to go to college with, but many have found the NM lottery scholarships to be much less red tape, and easier to deal with while also trying to go to school. Our oldest DD got several academic scholarships, but postponed college for awhile, so lost out on some. We paid into the dream thing for all of them, and found it to be well worth it.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

Sorry about the mess you are in Haydee---mistakes happen and while THEY will be upset, we know you would never screw with people that way on purpose! Different meds work for different people Laura, give it a chance. I take history on patients at work, and lots of them use the Lexapro. Hope it makes you a happy girl again! Chalk one up for us in the win column!!! First game and we won. It's a nice start to the year. I am off to bed, Kinsey is coming in the morning, to spend some time with me. I miss her and feel so badly that part of her problems and examinations were due to my allowing her to be hurt before. But it was not intentional----so I am trying to let it go. Work today sucked rotten eggs! The OM and the Dr. got all pissy with me for a mistake THEY made! We had 4 siblings, and it is VERY VERY common with the Native American families to name similarly. These 4 kids were Adrian, Adrianna, Andre, and Andrea. When a patient comes in, I screen them, do the intake etc. then put the chart up for the Dr, they get called back etc. I did the boys---the girls were outside. So I worked them up, put them up for the Dr, and was doing the chart work to start the girls through, when here comes the office manager, all pissed off telling me I had messed up the charts, and the screening, and the Dr was having to redo it, and he was mad, and she was MAD! She tossed the chart down, and was flipping through the chart. I looked at it, and it was all right. It was Andre's chart, and his ins. info and his papers. So she says he must have the other chart, and she opens the door, and Andrea is in there----I told her I had not screened either of the girls, he took the wrong patient back. My charts were right. Neither one of them even looked at me, let alone apologized for getting pissy with me, when I had not done anything wrong! I am not perfect, I make my share of mistakes. I had just been extra vigilant with this family due to the names. And she threw SUCH a fit at me over it, and then nothing, not even an oops. I was so mad!! Rick has an interview with the place he sent his resume to. Hoping it is a good thing. Word is 85% layoffs in October, the local camp is going to satellite, and bare bones crew----he will be laid off without a doubt. Hoping this works out. Unemployment will pay our bills, but insurance on the child that we pay for----is what has us in a tizzy. She has seen a Dr., or dentist 11 times in the last 6 weeks. Even with insurance we have paid out over $600 bucks. Can you imagine if she finds we have no insurance??? The kicker is her Mom is on SSDI, she is automatically eligible for medicaid, but the courts won't even allow it to be secondary insurance because she says it is an embarassment to the child. Laura, I know your Moms pain, I held Chelsea in my arms while the vet give her the pink shot. She put her life on the line for me.....I wanted her to be loved to the very very end.......and beyond. Hugs to your Mom.....glad she has you. Gotta get to bed.....see ya tomorrow, I go in late.

I feel your pain with the CC KC. I had my debit card compromised a year ago, they began charging small amounts---$3-4 bucks. And within 2 days they were hitting it for hundreds at a time. It FINALLY flagged on day 2----because I was using it Here at home, and they were using it in New Delhi India!! Was a company called Indian Railway Catering Company. They claimed to have a signature sale---but there was no contact info on the company---no address or #. I had to file a police report for it to credit back into my account, and it had to be "reviewed". Was a royal PITA! I was told it was likely stolen at a restaurant----and they are usually ones who provide crayons for the kids to color with. If you notice when they bring your CC/debit receipts back there are multiple copies, they grab an extra, and quickly run a crayon over the card on to the paper---and write down the 3 digit security code on the back----and they can sell them for $50-$100.00 bucks apiece! Mastercard said Chili's restaurant alone had over 10,000 complaints about this in the last couple of years!!! My debit or CC NEVER leaves my table without me anymore! EVER! We had our first softball game tonight----chalk one up in the win column for us!! YAY--much better start than last year! Well I am taking my sore and stiff body off to bed---I
  21. I agree totally BJean! Plus, I would rather see prostitution taxed---as we know it is going to happen anyway---than be taxed myself even more on something to cover what they would lose by eliminating it. BTW BJean, I was using Patty's words in regards to the "tarnished" comment. Here is the quote... I hear that Rhode Island lawmakers are pushing to criminalize indoor prostitution, saying it damages the states reputation. If it weren't a sinful thing to do, (prostitute oneself), then why would they believe their reputaion was being tarnished by allowing it to be lawful there? This country shouldn't make laws that go along with what the God of the bible teaches to be wrong. (rolling my eyes) I italicized the area I pulled it from! I believe prostitution is going on, and I believe it could be safer for all involved with some regulation, and $$$ raised in taxes would benefit the state. Many peope do not believe lottery should be legal, as it is a form of gambling. In NM where I live, the lottery has made it where ANY HS graduate, or GED recipient, can go to college with a lottery scholarship, it is theirs for the asking. Many kids have benefitted----regardless of those who do not approve. They are not forced to pay. If you do not believe in prostition, then you are not going to be forced to go to one, or be one. Therefore they get no more of your money in taxes!

Off to work. Might check in late tonight, if I get a chance, but no promises. We have a game tonight, so won't be home til late. Have a good 09/09/09!! Should make dating my charts easier than having to remember what I am writing!!!

Ok Pamela, I will pick and choose at random on the Sonic thing. I just thought if someone you knew had a wish list....I'd vote my stuff their way!!! Off to bed. Pamela---I have been meaning to ask you a question. Sonic here has a new program going on called Limeades for Learning (www.limadesforlearning.com) it is teachers who are wanting to win different things for their classrooms---laptops---study programs, different things. You get a peel off sticker on all large drinks and each one allows you to vote. Sonic will grant the wishes of the teacher. Does anyone you know have anything on there? I have submitted a couple of my coupons---but we have tons! The guys order Sonic at Rick's work everyday---so he brings home a dozen a day!
