    4 days post-op

I used liquid tylenol and it worked great. I walked alot also to help get that gas out of my stomach area and then the shoulder stopped hurting. Ive been told to slow it down when I have that feeling in my chest. I was touchy for 2 wks, escpecially where the port is. Best wishes.

    Medicare Is Confusing Need Help

Medicare will cover it. They typically want you to go to an approved facility, Centers of Excellence. So make sure you look up that on wherever you go. Not all docs take Medicare. Make sure you find out your deductible too. Some docs try to get people to pay them more than they are supposed to. For example they will tell you they have a package deal. No way. Your insurance will pay for dietician and all other BS. They just want $. I have known of others who had arthritis, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea and many other things getting Medicare approval. Dont give up. The surgeon should fight it for you. Dont be surprised if you are asked to undergo lots of testing. You probably will not be able to go to an outpatient surgery center. So make sure the hospital has a good follow up program, like support groups and band adjustments. Also find out how long your doc has been doing the band or whatever your having one and how involved are they with general surgery. Dont want some slacker cuttin on ya. You want that doc who will save you if something "funny" happens. Best wishes.

    Dallas Convention

Who was the Dr from Hou? Are you looking for a band? Please dont go to JL! I wish I could openly tell why. Also if you have cash or insurance I can recommend someone, based on personal experiene, that is an expert! He has been doing bands longer than any other doc in TX. He was in the group that did the first ever bands with the company that makes the band.Best wishes.

    Mexico or US?

You need to first find out if anyone in your area will care for you and fill your band first. If not then that may help you decide. Try looking up a company called fill centers of america. If they dont have one there then all you can do is call the local offices and just tell them you have a band and want to know if they would consider filling it. If you admit not already having one then they will ALWAYS try to get your business which =$. Also keep in mind that you may not need that many fills, so dont let the cost of a fill keep you from going to MX. Get involved in a support group so you can learn from others mistakes. Best wishes.
  10. This is why others should make sure their surgeon has an excellent follow-up plan. Its your body. Meet patients, get online... Not sure what area your in, but there was a company that would take on patients that already have bands. Once you get the band, it is super difficult to get any other surgeon to touch you. Try looking up fill centers of america. You need someone that has a program you can be involved in and not going it alone. Throwing up can damage your band and cause you to need further surgery. So please be careful. If that does happen most surgeons will tell you to go back to a liquid diet for at least 24 hours! Dont even try to see if you can eat or not. Good luck.
