ACK! I hope everything is OK for you. I am anemic as well. (My IUD makes me spot all the time.) Never had to be hospitalized for it. I take one of those hemo super iron pills everyday. I hope they don't keep me longer, after my surgery!! I feel for you! I read an article in the October "Eating Well" magazine and it was about DHA and Iron levels in people. (The article was called Brain Food.) They did a study where women with normal iron levels and anemic women took tests. The anemic women typically were slower taking the test and did poorer. But, I have been so not myself for the last year. Making decisions seemed harder, and being able to recall vocabulary words sometimes was impossible. So, I am blaming it all on being anemic! You can too!

    Who are you telling?

I too have a huge mouth, and thought I would shout it from the roof tops. But, I really haven't told that many people. My Husband is deployed overseas right now, and I am staying with my parents. My Husband, Parents, and My Mother-in-law know. And, a few Mom's from my daughter's play group know. But, that's it. And, it's so weird. I don't feel compelled to tell everyone, either. So very not like me.
  3. Yes, two days ago. It totally snuck up on me too.

I got approved really fast and all of a sudden. And, then My Mother asked when I started myprepre-op diet and we realized it was the very next day!

liquid. So, I can have veggies, salad, cottage cheese,lf crackers. And, then the protein drinks.

Ilfot a few different ones to see what I liked. I got some SF Carnation instant breakfasts. They are OK. Not as much protein as the EAS powder I got at Sam's. And, to me they taste just alike. And, then I got some low-carb

slimfast shakes for on the go situations. They tasted watery to me.

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

Hi Everyone! I wanna be a pumpkin too! Surgery date is set for October 21st! I am in the Dallas area, and Dr. Cribbins is doing my surgery. Doing my 2 week pre-op diet right now. It's going fine. I really can't complain. I got approved very quickly so the two week diet snuck right up on me! On Monday night, my Mother said "When do you start the diet?" After, I replied, she looked at me and said, "You do realize that two weeks is tomorrow, right?" YIKES!!! So, I didn't have any time to worry about it. Just do it.

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

Hello Everyone! My surgery date is October 21st. I am still in total shock. I went to a seminar on September 20th and was approved by my insurance 3 days later on October 3rd. I didn't even find out till the next Monday, because the office had been too busy to call me!! 48 hours for a YES! I can't believe it. But, it is TRICARE South. And, when the patient coordinator walked in the room, she said "I LOVE TRICARE! You qualify, so I will probably get an approval in less than 5 days." I never believed her for one second. I spent almost an entire year, 5 years ago trying to get approved for Gastric Bypass surgery with Cigna. I was heart broken and defeated after that, and did not ever want to try again. But, when I found out that TRICARE started paying for Lap-band surgery earlier this year. I thought I would see what happens. Never did I think this would come to fruition. Sorry... still shocked and happy.

    Vitamin d defiency

You can also spend 15mins. in the sun 3 times a week. (This is what they recommend for children, so it couldn't hurt adults!) That will help with your Vitamin D replenishment. That's how our body makes it naturally. But, I take a calcium + D supplement daily, too. Sam's club has big bottles that are relatively cheap in comparison. I get all my supplements there.
  7. Same thing happened to me when I had a c-section. I couldn't sleep in my bed with my husband for weeks it seemed. Honestly, I can't remember how long it was exactly, but it was at least two weeks. And, even then sleeping on my side on my back hurt a lot. Those darn abdominal muscles.
