Last night I started having a tearing feeling in my abdomen and had hard time sleeping last night because of that and my leg pain. I was hoping it would go away today, but it didn't. The tearing pain was small at first, but now it's getting very irritating. I finally got a hold of someone at the surgeon's office and I can't be seen til October 22nd. It bites, but now i gotta wait 8 days in pain just to see someone. Seriously thinking about making a trip to my PCP before then. I don't know if I can wait 8 days in pain and anxiety. Thinking of going in to see PCP for the leg pain also and bring up my abdomen pain. I don't want pain meds, just answers and possibly a solution. Any ideas what might be causing the tearing pain? Btw it's near the port area which concerns me also.

Well I woke up with the pain this morning, but it was a dull ache. And now it's totally gone which is a big anxiety relief. Just wish my leg would stop hurting like crazy. I got a bruise where it hurts, but I've been in pain like that before without a bruise. Hopefully I can make it until the pain stops. And sooooooo very thankful that the pain near the port is gone.

I was in there today for my first fill and asked him how much this time. I was shocked to hear 5 cc's. I asked if that was normal and he said that they are doing bigger fills because of the realize band. After I had it done I felt a bit funny drinking Water and eating crackers, and now i'm still feeling a bit blah. Nothing has come up, but i'm also dealing with a sore throat and umm stomach issues so not sure if that's making it all worse. Just wondering if anyone else had their first fill so high?

Haven't been able to post updates :/ Had to goto the er Sunday morning cause I was having trouble breathing and lovely wheezing. Have bronchitis :/ It's midnight and i'm still up coughing. I have barely eaten since my fill :/ It's not too tight I just don't have much of an appetite. Hopefully it'll get better once I knock this out of my system. I think I was having the saliva issue cause of my sore throat. I remember doing that alot and how much it hurt going down. Been spitting it out as much as I can, but it's random. Happened this morning, but i didn't eat anything until 1 30 pm. So not sure what that was about. Hopefully the antibiotics will have kicked in when I get up in about 6 hours :/ -

The doctor made me eat the crackers to see if I could tolerate it. Normally not a big cracker eater I was told to take it easy to chew like mad and make sure not to eat too much. Didn't say anything about Protein shake. I ate 3 pieces of 99% fat free slices of turkey and had no problem. Still feeling full from it which is great. -

Chicken Recipes for the Picky Eater
Kharadriisa replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well i'm a fan of homemade quesadillas and i was thinking about trying a new thing when i'm on phase 4 diet. grill one chicken breast. shred it then put some taco seasonings and Water in a pan -use the packets directions- cook for 5 minutes. then drain some of the sauce off the chicken then plate it. If you like black olives sprinkle a few on top of the chicken. Sprinkle some low fat colby/jack blend or your favorite cheese on top of the chicken. If you like low fat sour cream then put a dab on your plate and just stick the prongs of your fork into it and take a bite instead of smothering it. Voila no tortilla chicken quesadillas. -

Pcp Balking on Surgery Clearance
Kharadriisa posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well only thing holding me back is getting pcp surgery clearance. called last Friday they said they'd get it faxed in then they called me monday saying they are faxing it on. Surgeon's office never got it. Today Thursday trying to find out why they haven't sent it then they send in some kind of progress thing no one knows why. Then they call me saying the surgeon's office has been calling them and said they aren't gonna send it. Saying the FNP that i see since my normal pcp is to busy to see me doesn't feel "comfortable" with this. She's the one i've been seeing all this time and the one who referred me for surgery even though she didn't think surgery is an option. So now i have to go back to my normal pcp tomorrow -wow he has time- and see if he'll send it in. He's only see me once I somehow doubt that he'll do it since the woman that's seen me for 2 years doesn't feel comfortable. They want me to consider other options they said. This is the same FNP who laughed in my face and accused me of faking sleep apnea during a sleep study while ASLEEP! I am gonna have to switch pcp's i think and wait until I can find a doctor that's "Comfortable" with lap band surgery. Side note the FNP told the surgeon's office that I never once mentioned needing a surgery clearance letter. BULL! That's why she was laughing at me because I told her i needed one for surgery then she asked me what surgery I was having then she started laughing and saying that people would do anything even fake sleep apnea to get this surgery. -
Pcp Balking on Surgery Clearance

When I talked to the doctor he mentioned that she didn't "feel comfortable" in doing the medical clearance. I mean heck you ask questions send me for blood work and i'm out. Who knows. Gotta go back in 10 weeks as long as my blood work is normal this time if not he'd better get me in asap. I'm tired of waiting. The surgeon's office said that i've been waiting over a year for them to get credited at hospital and all these tests. The only good thing that's come out of all this is that I finally know I have sleep apnea. I don't like having it, but ignorance isn't healthy. -

Well found out Thursday no diabetes or thyroid issues. But my potassium is too high. Gotta get rechecked this thursday to make sure it wasn't a lab error. Hoping it was. I don't need anymore things holding me back :/ So hopefully i'll get my medical clearance sometime soon. -
I live in TN and I had to pay 150 non refundable and it's for a web site that you have to goto and fill out your history and it's for life i believe. Plus I had to pay for nutritionist apt which was only 39$. Not to shabby.

Kharadriisa replied to someonelsehasit's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was told and read that the supervised diet was not required. Hoping that's so :/ I haven't done it yet and don't plan on it. Also medicare told me that if the doctor approves it they will approve it. Only co morbidity is sleep apnea though bmi over 40 -

Pcp Balking on Surgery Clearance
Kharadriisa replied to Kharadriisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well i was ready for a fight, but what I got was a hot doctor and anxiety  He pretty much talked to me for a while and said he doesn't see any reason to hold me back. I do have to get my thyroid checked and tested for Diabetes. Gotta do bloodwork monday. Nothing like monday and getting stuck with needles to start out the week. Hopefully things will come out ok and I can finally get this surgery. -

I am gonna have to do some researching. Willing to give them a chance tomorrow at 3 pm. I am gonna have to go in early so that my son's dad can be at home to get the kids off the bus tomorrow just so that i can be humiliated again. Hopefully this time things will be more clear. He's my normal pcp, but when I have to wait a month to see him normally i just stuck with his FNP, but no more. I will never go back to her after the way I was treated. If he clears me for surgery then fine, but if not I will not go back. There is no reason not to. My heart is fine. Everything is fine but the sleep apnea which will not just clear up without weight loss. -
well was diagnosed with sleep apnea on the 19th of this month and i have to go back in for a sleep study with a cpap machine. I was wondering what kind of issues will I face with surgery and having sleep apnea. I have stopped breathing while waking up from anesthesia after my past surgeries and have voiced my concerns with a doctor that i don't see anymore about it and was told it was normal to stop breathing after surgery. I was wondering what precautions they will take now that I finally have my unwanted answer :/

sleep apnea and this surgery
Kharadriisa replied to Kharadriisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
went to my pcp for a 3 month check up and mentioned the sleep apnea to my doctor and she asked why i was tested and i told her it was for the lap band surgery -which she referred me for- and she's like wow people will do anything to get that surgery. Even fake sleep apnea. I was appalled. I can't believe she'd even say that. I asked her "how can you fake sleep apnea when you're asleep?" she's like "it would be really hard to do" She was laughing the whole time and I just didn't know what to do. Other than tell her I didn't fake it and i didn't want it. She also mentioned that it would help my case with the insurance to have it. And i told her that my bmi is over 40 and it's not a requirement. She dropped it. And what's bugging me now is that I have a fever and just so weak and I was fine when I was there. Nothing like getting sick after you go home :/ So taking tylenol and gonna see how I feel in the morning. -
sleep apnea and this surgery
Kharadriisa replied to Kharadriisa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't got my machine yet. gotta go in and get retested with a cpap on. Gah :/ Also wondering if anyone has had problems with the tape they put on your skin? I had tape on my throat to the side Sunday night and my skin is still red and now it's peeling. It's not horrible, but it's not exactly great looking. Wondering why that could of happened. I have no allergies that I know of and had plenty of surgeries so I would know by now if I was allergic to tape. -
Ok new here. Got a call yesterday about my referral to a surgeon. Have medicare and tenncare. They had to get credited or something. Was told that since my BMI was 42 that I wouldn't need a co morbidity. Called Medicare today to make sure. Medicare said I would have to have a obesity related illness. Was told High BP or diabetes. Asked if there was any others. Said no. Was she right? She was just reading from a list. And didn't spend much time looking into it :/ Really wanna know if others understand the process more. Thanks in advance!

Psych Eval...WAY too long, WAY WAY too long
Kharadriisa replied to MMS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The psychologist i went to said I didn't look big enough to have weight loss surgery :cool2: Kind of a spirit uplifter, and he said I was cute as a bug. We spent most of the hour talking about friends we both knew. Small world we live in. It would of been over quickly except we kept talking about stuff like that  Very nice man. I wish my therapist did the psych eval would of saved me 60$ -
My packet said it takes 3-6 months from start to surgery. Though I'm knocking the requirements off quickly so I can hopefully get mine done before the new year. All I got left is surgery consult and 2 nutrition appointments and a pcp surgery clearance. I have medicare so i don't need pre approval. it depends on your insurance. You have to wait for them to approve your surgery so that takes time also.

ugh just now getting back into this whole mess. Didn't realize how sick I was last week. Went to doctor Friday and found out i had walking pneumonia. Been going to seminar and group thing for this who knows how many peeps I infected. Feeling better finally and now faced with getting kids to their doctors this week and next and two halloween parties at their pre school. Phew. I can't wait to lose this weight so that I can be more comfortable while doing all this. Gotta consult appointment Nov 7th. So gotta raise 190$ total to cover the co pay and remedy MD thing they require. If they take Care credit for co pays then I can deal.
-
I am getting the run around. Called the number I was told to and they said they can't do anything that i have to call the number that i called the first time that told me to call them. Tried calling no one is answering even though they are open :/ Went to a seminar last night and man it was bleah. The woman beside of me kept falling asleep and snoring. I'm the type of person that laughs at the stupidest things and I had to control myself  I think i'd croak if i laughed :/ Gotta goto a group session tonight. Only get a chance once a month. Learned last night that we have to go through 6 hours of education before we can have the surgery. 1 down another 5 to go. Got my consult with surgeion nov 7th. Gotta pay 150 +40 co pay. Bleah gonna be hard when my disability is only 700$ a month and I have 2 kids.
