This Is The Hardest Desecion I've Ever Made
cynw replied to wanna_be_a_momma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was very fortunate that our insurance covered my surgery but it too 5 years to get my husbands support. I had lost 50 lbs on WW and and then gained back 60. I have a bad knee and knew that the only thing I was going to do was continue to gain. I made the appt and got things in motion. My surgery was 9/29/08. I have lost 65 lbs. Nothing radical and hardly noticable but down none the less. It is the best decision I ever made. I hope you are able to find the right solution for you to our weight issues. Best of Luck! -
I was not required to do a pre-surgical diet but I did have a husband that was more than iffy about the procedure. I have a knee that needs to be replaced and they won't do it at my current weight. I had become so immobile that even doing week one on WW I did not lose a pound. Hard to do when you weigh in at over 350! I knew I had no other options and this was the tool for me. I came to realize it was the procedure that scared him and once surgery was over he has been very supportive. Since Sept 29 surgery I have lost over 44 pounds and now feel they are gone for good. I am able to move around better and have started doing Water aerobics. Keep trying to think of food as fuel. I made a mental switch and if it is not providing nutrients it doesn't get to go in! Best of luck!

Teri, I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time. Juggling so many things plus this may seem insurmountable but I have faith you will succeed. Trust me that this is difficult without children and a job! You are amazing! I am also glad you have had some good advice. I begin seeing a psychologist in Jan. I have never related to my body and hope to be able to relate to the one I hope to have. I keep track of my intake on sparkspeople.com. I calculates your protein and carbs as well as calories. There is also a place to journal. It is worth taking a look. Years ago I did a liquid diet and the long term successful people wrote EVERYTHING down. Keep it up - sometimes an hour at a time. Cyn

Had my first fill today - 3cc's and was very anxious. Unusual for me but having read some of the posts I was afraid. Most of the posts say how easy the fill is and I decided it would be easy for me as well. Luckily it was. I am sure you will do well. Any discomfort seems unusual. The hardest part for me was lying on the table and getting back up! Good luck to all and try not to worry.

I have used sparkspeople and love it. That is where I go to get my calorie and Protein counts. My daughter made me an excel spread sheet we printed out that keeps track of the protein, calories, Water, Vitamins, exercise, and how I feel after I eat. I have written everything down since day one. I did the liquid thing years ago and the long term success people always kept track of everything they ate. I am using that info to keep me logging everything down. I can't imagin how hard this is working 12 hours. I am at home and am finding taking care of me is a full time job! I much prefer taking care of someone else. It is sooooo much easier! Keep trying - that all we can do. I have a long road ahead of me. I really appreciate this thread. You make each day easier.

I'm a little late finding you guys but glad I did. I was banded 9-29-08 but had post op complications. Have a history of clots and they ended up in my lungs. Everything is fine now. Never had my 2 week check since I was in the hospital (not the one where I did the lap band). Have no idea how much I have lost but clothes are looser and will get weighed on Tues. Started working out in the pool this week and did water arobics for the first time today. Have been on liquids since the surgery and get to have soft food tomorrow. Have only been hungry once or twice in the morning. I am greatful for the info on the fills. It's the only thing I have been nervous about.

Thank you! I should be getting the unjury tomorrow. I should have expressed that part of my problem is that I can only handle 2 oz per hour. I need something really high in protein and low in volume. It is causing me to become dehydrated. I am going to give this a try. Thank you for the suggestion. Wishing you continued success!
