  1. Hi Everyone, I have to take the 3 hour pysch test, which I'm assuming is MMPI. I called my FSA customer service and they said it's a covered expense, but for some reason I'm doubting them. Anyone else submit this expense for re-imbursement? It's going to cost me $160 and it's not a health insurance covered expense. Thanks!! Di

MMPI Test an FSA covered expense?

Thanks Everyone... Yes, it's the MMPI....states it on my list from the surgeon and it says it takes about 4 hours, then I meet with the pyschiatrist right after the test...wish I didn't have to take it..grrrrrr

    Any bingers cured after surgery?

Lulu... Your post has really hit home with me about the eating thing and I'm so glad that you seem to have it under control right now. Your post has put my mind at ease about whether or not the band will work for me and I'm sure it will. I think about food all of the time and eat if I'm hungry or not..actually I'm not sure if I really know what hungry is. I'm looking forward to this journey and pray that it's the right one for me... Thanks for sharing!! Di

    Any bingers cured after surgery?

I'm soooooo worried about this....I'm a closet eater and I could just eat until I'm sick. I really hope that when/if I get the band that it will help me with this constant food obsession. Currently I'm starting the process, but I'm just trying to get all the info I can before I actually proceed with the surgery. This board is so informative and it's so nice to know that others react to food like I do... I'm at 232lbs at 5'8 and when I weighed 132lbs I thought I was fat then...OMG how things have changed!! Di
  5. Starting the journey, did testing yesterday~~ <HR style="COLOR: #c9ced4; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #c9ced4" SIZE=1>Hi Everyone, I'm starting the journey and had testing done today. I can't believe how thorough it is....ekg, chest x-ray, 8 vials of blood and the pulmonary function test...at least I know I have the lungs of an athlete!! Next thing is meeting the the nutrionist in January, the dietician in Jan & Feb, the pysch eval (need to schedule) and attend 2 group meetings.... It's so exciting and scary at the same time. My husband isn't on board with this yet and I didn't even tell him I was having the tests done today, but I figure I'll start the process and I'm sure he'll finally see it's not a "quick fix" as so many people think it is..."Just workout and you'll see that you can lose the weight"...well, I have tried that along with all sorts of diets and after a couple of months I'm right back where I started...I'm addicted to food and I know that the Lap Band will be a great tool in fighting this addiction. So here I am.... Di

    Husband not supportive

Hi Everyone... I've been looking into lapband for over a year and finally got the nerve up to have a consult with the surgeon. I'm just on the borderline of acceptance, as I'm 35 BMI.... I just told my husband last night about the appointment and he's so against me having the surgery. He thinks that if I just exercise, the weight will come off. I have about 87lbs to lose (although he doesn't know how much I weigh and I don't plan on telling him..) He said, workout for 6 months and then decide....I told him that I just never feel full....and that once I take off some weight I WILL exercise.... Anyone else have husband issues with this???? I'm struggling with whether or not I'm making the right decision on having surgery. Di

    Dr. Hess at BMC

Since I just had my consult, I haven't received info on testing dates etc....I'm very borderline at 35BMI, so I'm hoping I can get the green light....and I'm hoping I don't chicken out. My husband isn't very keen on me having surgery at all which makes it a bit harder to make a definate decision on having the surgery. I'm going to start the process and see what happens... I saw him at Quincy Medical, did you go to BMC?

    Husband not supportive

Wow...thanks for all your insight on this....My husband is such a wonderful guy, but he just doesn't get this part of my struggle...I'm sure he'll come around. I'm definately going to start exercising (we have a whole gym setup in our basement)....who knows? Maybe if I start going thru this process it will be my jump start to really losing weight...I'm so borderline that I might not be able to have the surgery. Thanks for all of your support...I'm sure you'll hear alot from me..:-) Diana
