  1. HI!!! I was banded on the 22nd and have lost 18lbs so far!!! YAY!! I must say though, I've suffered quite a bit.. like I have mental hunger I guess, and I see my family eating and chewing and I want to cry!!!!!! But anyways.. I was wondering, I've had a difficult time burping... not too much passing gas (embarrasing...) but burping is like not very successful.. I feel the need come on, and I can feel it and I just feel like weird pain in my epigastric area, I guess where my puch is at. I'm still on liquid diet.. I did try to eat a little bit, just chewed it reaaalllyyy well (or so I thought) and I had prety bad abdominal pain for quite a few hours. Not like before, you had abdominal pain that would last about 30 minutes and then go away... not now!!!! It really took my urge and desire to chew on anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, keep me posted!!!!!!!! Good luck to everyone!

Those banded 10/22/08 KEEP ME POSTED

Allright so I was on a roll at the beginning, down a total of 19 lbs, but now I haven't lost a single pund in the last 4 days! I'm attributing it to my "time of the month" but deep down inside I feel a little disappointed. Pounds were shedding right off at first and now have slowed down after only a week and a couple of days. I was wondering if it was my body thinking it's starving because of the decrease in intake?? What do you think???? HELP :rolleyes2:
  4. Hi everyone! I was just banded on Oct. 22, and as of today, I've lost 13 lbs. I just wanted to put in my two cents about being banded in Tijuana. First off... do your research!! I did mine, luckily before I paid for my procedure in full ( I did end up losing $500 by switching out at the last minute, but no price to pay when your health is at risk). I looked around sites like this one, where you can get most of your information, from other people, not from anyone trying to sell you something. After going back and forth, I chose not to go with the company I had initially picked, and went with Dr. Contreras. As an Emergency Room RN, I was very skeptical about the whole thing and honestly, just doing it this route because it was the only way I could afford it. By far, Dr. Contreras exceeded my expectations. He answered all of my questions (some of which were trick questions... I just had to make sure I was doing the right thing). Really proved himself to be a great surgeon and a great person. I was shown the surgical suite and equipment and was honestly, quite impressed. I received the best medical care from him and the nurses as well. I understand medicine is quite different over there, but honestly, I could not have asked for more from them. I was provided with a card with a serial number for my band, from Inamed, along with all my paperwork. You want to be really careful with this as one of the things I read and could honestly not believe there is such sick, dishonest people out there, is that some of these surgeons in Tijuana will band you with non-FDA approved, cheaper bands and tell you (and charge you) otherwise. So that's my two cents about him. I would do it all over again and am very glad i chose him for my procedure.

  7. Hi! Well my situation seems a lot like yours. I'm having my surgery on the 22nd, in Tijuana. My BMI is 34.8, and I'm also 24 years old. I've had a single surgery before, which was a c-section.. it was a pretty painful recovery for the 1st 2 weeks, but it's a bigger cut than a laparoscopic procedure. With my C-section, I really didn't have any gas issues.. what got me was that I was constipated (embarrasing I know.. but wanted to give you a head's up). Being a nurse and having the baby where I worked, I was able to get the Dr. to let me go home without going potty first.... baaad idea, almost ended up back in the hospital!! So if that happens to you what worked for me was Colace, an over the counter stool softener. I No gas pains though.. getting up from bed was pretty bad, but again, it's a way bigger cut. Make sure your pain needs are addressed, make sure you get up and walk as soon as you can.. it will help you with the gas and will prevent you from throwing a clot (THAT is my biggest fear).. So.. surgery in Mexico appears to be quite common, which is good to know.. makes me a little more comfortable anyways :crying: Also.. make sure you have your pain needs addressed prior to leaving, I'm not sure what the rules and regulations are regarding bringing medications from another country. In the ER where I work we can't accept any prescriptions from any neighboring state.... wether it's an antibiotic or a narcotic.. So good luck on your journey!
