Has anyone else been told this?

Not sure what rou-en-y is, never heard of it, but my starting BMI was 50.6 and my doctor thought I was a perfect candidate for LapBanding especially since the reason I got so big is that I have a weak "full" response and ate LARGE portions. I am 5'10" tall and started at 351lbs. That weight was on 09/02, now, 11/12 I am 318, 33 pounds down. If the doctor is trying to dictate what type of gastric surgery you should have, especially if it's because what he prefers to dom or because he doesn't want to provide the follow-up necessary in ALL procedurs, then it is DEFINATELY time to find another doctor. They should be a partner in managing yur health, not a dictator. YOU have the final say in any decision. Even if a surgeon says you should not have this, unless they can truly document WHY, find another who will do it. And I have read many accounts of people loosing upwards of 150 pounds so anyone who says you'll only loose 100 either is trying to sell you something else or is uninformed.

I too went to Monty Schwartz in Tucson (surgery on 09/16/08) and cannot say enough good about this skilled surgeon.:crying:

    An introduction

Hey Just getting started on this blog so let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 44, and, at the start of all this I was 351 lbs, way too big unless I was over 7 feet tall, and I am under 6 so, it had to go. I was banded on 09/16 by Monty Schwartz here in Tucson, he's the greatest and I cannot say enough good about him. I love to cook, and to grow veggies in the garden, so as you can see, food is a big part of my life. Fortunately, not as an emotional crutch, but since I quit smoking 9 years ago, my last vice. Between the pre-surgery diet and since, I am down to 328.4. Lightest in almost a year and harbinger of things to come (or is that go?) I have great support from my wife so things are going smoothy far. I am here because I know, sooner or later that I will have a question that only someone who's been here can answer.

  8. Just a quick HELLO from Tucson AZ, I am new to forums and to the LapBand having had the surgery on 09/16/08. I started at 351 lbs, and, between teh pre-surgery diet, and the post surgery lack of eating, I have lost 22.6 lbs (aren't digital scales fun?) I look forward to being MUCH skinnier than I am now!
