I am starting over as well. I had the Realize band placed in April 09. I lost a total of 83 pounds. I was doing very well; following all the rules. Once I was at a good/comfortable/nice looking weight I got complacent. I was able to maintain my loss even with my complacency. However, at the end of last year I started experiencing some reflux. At first I didnt think it was a big deal. Then it began coming up while I was asleep. Finally, in January I got an small unfill. I think he took out about 1cc. After that it was all good. Except my bad eating had caught up with me. So, now I have gained exactly 20 lbs. from my lowest weight. I was exercising very regularly for months earlier this year but due to finances have started having to do so at home. I dont know about you all but it's much harder to get off the couch and do it at home. I just know it's time for the scale to stop going up and start going back down. I am doing the 5 day pouch test beginning Sunday and I am ready for my reboot!! I am having a fill on the 18th. I cant wait to report back that all 20 of those lbs have gone and that my mind is back in the right place!

I had this exact problem a few months back. A tiny unfill cured it immediately.

Hi Christine! yes we do all get back into the old routine at some point. The important thing is to get back on track. What you were experiencing is normal. A lot of people dont lose significantly in the beginning. I was too tight once and had to get unfilled. It's the best thing you can do for your band. Throwing up isnt good for it and can lead to slippage. Congrats on the 10 lbs. I want to be just like you! -
I went in today for a fill. I havent had one in exactly a year. My doc showed me on the fluroscope where I was having a bit of reflux. The barium would go down but some of it would pop back up and then go down. Not high enough that I feel it though. She told me to stay on liquids for 4 days instead of the usual two. I should have asked her why I had it and more importantly what I can do to get rid of it. I told her that on the rare occasion I have heartburn I chew a pepcid and she said that's fine. Today was a horrid day in Atlanta as we had frozen highways and streets last night. Everyone was late to work at the hospital and she wasn’t in her normally mid paced routine. She is an excellent dr and I have a lot of trust in her, but I wonder if she should have said more regarding the reflux. Why I didn’t ask could be attributed to the same reasons: b/c they were running hours behind seeing me, I was running hours behind getting to work. So I rushed out and didn’t think about it until I was driving. Have any of your docs seen reflux that you couldn’t feel, and what did you do to correct it?

Reflux on Fluro - but I cant feel it...advice?
smilan replied to smilan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your response... Yes, actually I did get the fill. I had already had two unfills since my last fill. The second time they took .5 cc's out. So, yesterday she put .3 cc's back in. I feel fine since. I realized last night that the reflux is probably due to the high potency Iron supplements I'm on for my anemia. iron supplements are known for causing gastric problems. I called her office and left a message for her to call me today. Maybe we can come up with something to replace them with. -

Hey guys, Ok I had my last fill exactly a year ago...the week before Christmas. I ended up getting two unfills; one the next week and the other a few months ago. I have since gained 14 lbs. I'm so disappointed. I am going for a fill tomorrow morning. I really need to get my head in the game also. I have picked up a bad sweets habit as well. I know that I can do it, because I have done it before. So, tomorrow I begin anew and I will be a bandster again! I hope everyone is doing well. New Years Resolution: live like a bandster!! -

Band _Groupie - Wow we are in the exact same boat. I had to have an unfill two months ago and I am now up 11 pounds from my lowest weight. I am also watching myself and doing my best this week (and next). If I have not started to lose again, I'll go in for a very small fill. I havent been on LBT in a long time. It's my weight gain that brought me back. Here's hoping you and I both start to see the scale moving down! -
Ok ladies. I must say I look really good with clothes on. I also must say when the pants come off - not so much. I have the dreaded thigh sag! I cant stand the way the skin on my inner thigh sags. I love swimming, and while I cant wait until it's hot enough I don’t know what I'll wear! Last year I wore shorts with a tankini top. Ugh, this year I think I'll need longer shorts. I cant find a suit w/a skirt that doesn’t look like my granny would wear it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having a problem. For the last two days anything I eat makes me nauseous. After two or three bites of any food I am feeling sick. Today I have had four spoons of oatmeal, a pack of crackers, and three spoons of activia yogurt. I have no idea what could be the problem, but it's starting to scare me. Has anyone ever had this problem. Thanks for your input.
-
Wow you know now that you mention it...I am currently fighting a bacterial infection after a breast reduction surgery. I have been dealing with it for about a month now. Maybe the nausea is just now kicking in. I have an appointment with my doc on Wednesday. I'll ask about it then if it's still a problem. I just managed to eat a piece of toast with no problems. I hope it just goes away on it's own.

Thanks everyone. Jachut, thanks for the compliment! You're right all of us do have something we dont like about ourselves. I am just going to buy what I want. I did find a really cute mesh cover up. It's sexy and not too big and mu-mu-ish. I am very happy with my success I guess I was just hoping not to have the dreaded saggy thigh syndrome. However, I will enjoy this swim season no matter what!

April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?

I also have not checked in for a long time. I have lost 67 lbs. since surgery on 4-2. I had hoped to lose an average of 10 lbs. a month. That hasnt happened but seriously 67 lbs is amazing! I am aiming to lose about 30 more lbs. and I hope to do so by my 1 year bandiversary. I know that if I work out the way I should and stick to eating well, it will happen. -
I was prescribed levaquin for a breast infection. I noticed a few hours later, my water was going down slowly as if I'd just had a fill. Well, due to some other bad side effects my doc changed me to clyndamycin. I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with antibiotics. I just started the new one today. It has side effects of nausea, light diarreah, and vomiting. Of course, I am praying I dont vomit. I just hate that this medicine has to come with all these horrible side effects.
-
Today is my 6th month anniversary. I have lost 58 lbs. I should be entering "onederland" by next week. I have 3 lbs. to go! Im doing well, eating well and working out pretty much as I should. I love my band!!

I went on vacation this past weekend. Fri- Mon. I ate whatever I wanted. It was mostly ice cream, fried seafood and crab legs. I guess it's obvious I vacayed on the beach. When I got on the scale this morning I was 209!! I cant believe I struggled for a week and finally lost when I was trying the least! I'll take that loss and hopefully I'll be at 207 by Monday.

Well, I am almost 6 months out. I was banded on the second of April, so I've got about 2 weeks until my 6 month mark. I got my last fill on 7/31. I thought that with this fill I would start to lose quickly again. However, I now see that is not the case. I went in for that fill at 216. I went down to 212 - which btw is the 50 lb. mark for me. I even went down to 210 one day. However, I am now 211.8 as of this morning. I havent experienced this before and it's bumming me out. Could it be Im at a plateau? The thing that really irks me is that I've just really been excercising on a regular basis lately. So, I figure it should be coming off not sticking around. I've evaluated my eating, nothing bad there. Still getting in 60-80g of protein daily. I dont know what the problem could be. I will be going for another fill on the 4th. I'll see if perhaps Im eating too much, though it doesnt seem that is the case. Sorry for rambling on, I just was not prepared for the slow down so early on.
-
I have mild restriction. I was restricted for longer this last fill. I would say for about 2 weeks I had what I consider optimal restriction. I just made an appointment for a fill on the 4th. Hopefully I'll be restricted for longer this time.
-
Thanks TCB, I know 50 lbs. in 5 months is great. I guess I just was hoping to zoom right into my goal weight. I have to remember reading people's blogs before I got my band. They were complaining just like I am, and I thought " you've got to be kidding how can you complain." So, Im going to continue moving forward knowing that the band isnt broken and in due time, weight loss will pick up again. Thanks for the encouragement.
