Cardiologist is Freaking me out!
lilith replied to lilith's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
All done! Everything ended up being fine, it was a shadow from breast tissue or something... so that was my final test, hopefully I've been submitted for approval - this has been a long six months!!! (seven months...lol) -
Cardiologist is Freaking me out!

Hi Susan, I actually went for a second opinion this past Friday, this doctor says that their is something on the stress test, could be nothing, could be something but the best way to tell is to go in and look. I like this doctor a LOT better so I'm having the procedure done tomorrow through his group. Thanks for your reply! -

Thanks - I think it just totally took me off guard, it never even occured to me that something would be wrong... and seven - ouch! I hope you are doing well! -
Did you know Hopkins has an online info session now? If you can squeeze it in I suggest checking out St. Agnes, the RN that hosts the meeting has had WLS and she's really informative!

Too bad we aren't on the same end of town, we could carpool!

Thank you! I'm one of those lucky people who had to do a six month supervised diet, lol. So far I've gained 5 pounds!!! So March 2nd is my final day... I have two appointments between now and then, the cardiologist and the shrink eval, and I have to have a drug and alcohol test! From what I hear my insurance is one of the few who requires that one.

Hi, I'm creeping up on my surgery! Hoping for the first week of April and then I'll definitely be going to the meetings. Dr. Averbach's office is submitting my paperwork on March 2nd. When did you have your surgery?

Were you informed about PS before you were banded?
lilith replied to Dr. Schulman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I brought it up at my surgery consult, my surgeon sort of dismissed it as, let's get through this first... I am really concerned with the sagging skin issue, he didn't seem to view it as a big deal. -
I love the Wii Fit - I don't use it as much as I should because I have to set it up in my livingroom. The hula hoop is the best, and I kick my daughters' butts at it, lol. The kids love it, too - dh doesn't pay much attention but he weighs 180 so he can stay off my Wii Fit anyway! :-) It definitely gives you a hard time if you gain or don't use it for a while (snide comments and such), but I think that's a plus - I would rather deal with a machine giving me grief than a real person, lol.

I had the sleep study - it came back as mild sleep apnea, so I didn't need the CPAP or anything like that. All they told me is that they feel the surgery will cure the mild apnea. From what I have heard if you do need the CPAP you do have to take it with you to the hospital and it's important for them to know and monitor your breathing.

I'm getting closer to surgey (March/April) and I'm wondering more about the actual procedure itself. How many of you had to spend the night? How long were you sore? Was driving a problem at all? Were there any restrictions aside from diet??? Thank you!!!
-
Wow! Thanks for all the replies! It's amazing how different everyone's experience is. I think I'll ask him to let me stay over if possible, just to have a night without kids screaming and chasing each other around the house, lol. Did any of you have problems going up and down the stairs at all???
-
This is the part I'm afraid of, being sent home and having an issue in the middle of the night, I would rather stay (not to mention you can't rest in my house, lol - my kids will leave me alone, but they won't leave each other alone!).
-
I know just what you mean - I have a 13, 11 and 9 yr old. I'm going with Dr. Averbach at St. Agnes, I've been to several info sessions and talked with lots of people, the docs at St. Agnes appeal to me the most. Btw, I'm just up the road from you in Belcamp so if you do end up at St. Agnes and want to carpool to support meetings let me know! I'm getting ready to start my 5th month (supervised diet) so hoping to get banded in March/April.
-
Ugh, that stinks! Our old insurance denied it but so far it looks like I'll get approved this time, if not I'll be out of luck. I hope I didn't come across the wrong way in my last post!
-
Thanks! It's a hard six months for me... but not as hard as trying to come up with the money, lol.
-
Congrats! I'm hoping to submit for approval the first week of March, my doctor is Dr. Averbach @ St. Agnes. (btw the way, my actual name is Sharon S. - it threw me when I saw your username, I think I need to go back to sleep! lol)
-
Good luck tomorrow! I'm on my fourth month of the six month supervised diet... I'm so jealous!

Hi Beautylocs, Just remember that most of us here either do or have felt the same way you do, you are sooooo not alone. I've just decided if the lapband doesn't work I'm going to start sitting on skinny chicks until I feel like the world is a better place!:tongue2: Feel free to talk to me anytime! -

Anyone's 6th month up in Feb????
lilith replied to luvjacob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds good, I'm in my second month - my third visit is December 4th. I guess I'm old, lol, I'm 33, I have three kids and I work from home. AND I spend way too much time on my butt! -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
lilith replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HeatherO, I think I would have been flattered if one of my kids said that, I think he probably sees you as "Mom" and never thought of you as "fat" in the first place. I guess love is blind, lol -
I had my consult with Dr. Averbach and he was great! I was a little surprised because a lot of people said he's all business and not much personality and I really thought he was very personable and funny. I still have four months of supervised diet to go (well 3 1/2), I'm just trying to stick with everything and convince myself that the time is a good thing so that I'm not pushing myself to get everything done. My insurance company (One Net, PPO) requires a lot of tests, everything from a stress test to a drug test, lol. I was supposed to go to the nutritionalist (sp?) but had to reschedule due to my son being in the hospital with MRSA, that was fun... but he's all better now thank goodness. So just working towards my goal! I'm so over this "fat-girl" life!
