I was recently on a plateau and I thought I was following the rules most of the time. I am very active on another site and I posted a daily score card of band rules for myself and others. I would fess-up daily and it only took a week to figure out what I was doing wrong. This wasn't why I started the score card, but I soon realized that my occasional sugar treat was a daily habit, I was not taking 20 minutes to eat, and I was not getting enough Water.
Note this post was last April- once I had restriction I lost really well. Then I took a long flight and had to have an unfill. I didn't lose in Sept and Oct. I had a fill in mid October. I was losing slowly until last week when I realized I was having too much sugar and being careless about the band rules. I have lost 4 pounds in the last week.
I was banded on Feb 24th and I have lost 60 pounds. I started at 289. I was 267 at surgery. I am 229 now. I have had periods of great weight loss and times when I have yo-yoed for weeks and weeks. I spend Sept & Oct loosing the same 5 pounds and I have been loosing really well for the last 10 days. I am aiming for onederland for my banaversary. I am big boned (really!) so my goal has been set at 174. Sounds high but I will give me a BMI of 25.
I am going to cry- I was banded on Feb 24 and I have not lost anything....unless you count to same 5 pounds that I have lost and gained ten times over! The thing is that until a few days ago I was eating within the rules and exercising most every day. In fact I was full on one cup of food. I am eating way less than I was before surgery but before surgery, I was losing weight. I have my first fill tomorrow. I hope the doc is aggressive, with the fill.
Hey, I know it doesn't seem fair to eat so little and not lose weight, but this stage is all about letting your band heal, not losing weight. I have only lost about 5 pounds in the last month and I was banded 4 weeks ago. If you focus on the weight too much, you will get discouraged and start to cheat on the liquid, mushie, or soft food diet. Follow the rules and the weight will come off and for good this time.
OMG! STOP eating solid food. The whole point of the liquid diet is so the band can heal into place. With liquids your stomach doesn't have to move to digest and the band can heal in place. If the stomach doesn't move the stomach grow a skin over the band. Eating too soon can lead to slippage. I never felt restriction and food would have gone down fine and maybe, just maybe I would have gotten away with it, but I have invested too much, & I am not talking about money, to risk my band.
Hey Ale78
That's funny that you are thinking of telling you Mom that you are having hernia surgery because I was banded on 2/24 and that is the story I gave my adult children. Worked for me- and I did have a hernia repair.

My doc allows any clear fluid- apple juice, broth, popsicles, plus milk, shakes, and vegetable juices. Whether he counts the shakes as water, I don't think so, but be doesn't require so much water (32 oz.)
