SherryLuka, I will be going to Tiajuana two weeks before you, but to a different dr. Mine is Dr. Martinez at the Obesity Control Center. My husband is going too, but he won't be much help since he's getting the surgery also. We're going to have to help each other, if possible. We're also flying in to San Diego. I understand your concerns, but honestly, I think everything will work out. For us and for you! We've done a lot of research, and I think we're doing the right thing. Think positive!

To tell or not to tell????
LanieB replied to kjhack's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I are both having the surgery Nov 13 in Tiajuana. I have told several people, but he's been very quiet about it. He hasn't told any of his family (even his sister that he listed as an emergency contact). He didn't even tell his boss -- only his assistant. He said he doesn't like the reaction people have when they find out he's doing it in Mexico. I say let them freak out, it's our decision and we're going to prove everyone wrong! Elaine -
I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?
LanieB replied to Cappy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband and I are scheduled for Nov 13 in Tiajuana, Mexico. Dr. Martinez. Self-pay. This better work cause we're gonna be freakin' broke for a while! :tongue_smilie: I'm really excited -- been reading this web site alot, trying to get an idea of what to expect. It's great to hear from people that are going through what I'm going through with their weight. Elaine -
Future Bandster needs some help....

Carrie - Yes, if you can get her number, that would be great. I told my husband that next week's task is for him to get us lined up with someone to do our fills. lol! Dr. Martinez's office emailed us a list of a few that they recommend, but we haven't called any of them yet. I think the closest was in Austin, which is quite a drive! Tyler sounds much better. Carrie - My husband and I are both flying in on 11/12/08. We're both having the surgery on the 13th. Maybe we'll see you there. He called Dr. Merriman's office to see about having our fills there, but they didn't seem very optimistic about us using them, for some reason. Said they take patients on a case by case basis. Plus there was going to be a fee of about $400 for each of us for the support group (or something), and another $200 for the actual fills. That's kinda steep if you ask me, especially since it would be for each of us. Anyway, we're looking for somewhere else that's not quite as expensive. Elaine -

MyNewLife - I see that you are also using Dr. Martinez. That's who I'm scheduled with. When is your surgery date? Mine is 11/13/08. Do you have anyone lined up for fills and aftercare? I don't yet. Got to start working on that soon. Good luck, Elaine -
I only drink one cup in the mornings, and I hope I don't have to give that up. Yes, I'm excited about getting this done. Wish it were already over with. I'm not a patient person. I've been over-indulging lately, I suppose because I know I'll have to give up so many foods that I love starting two weeks from now. Elaine

Kmonson - So why do you have to give up your coffee? None of the paperwork I have mentioned that. Would this be temporary or long-term? Your surgery date is set for the day after mine. Good luck! Elaine

Recently banded, very optimistic

John - I agree, having a supportive family is important. My husband and I are both being banded 11/13/08. We're planning on being each other's cheerleader! I have every intention of this being a complete success for both of us. You've done great so far! Good luck. -
Jenni, Merriman was the one my husband was going to use. We watched his DVD and really liked him. But we found out that in Tiajuana we could both get it done for the amount he was going to charge for one. I would rather be doing it here. Seems safer, especially since we'd be close to our dr in case of any complications. I'm just hoping all goes well. No, we haven't got anyone lined up for the follow up. I would appreciate any information you can give me about this dr in Calhoun. That's not too far from here. Elaine

Hi Jenni - I'm from the Shreveport area, too. Bossier City to be exact. I'm excited for you. Who is doing the surgery? Mine is scheduled for 11/13. My husband and I are having ours in Tiajuana, Mexico. We're self-pay also. We can both have it done there for about the same price as a doctor here was going to charge. Hope we're doing the right thing. I am learning a lot from reading about other's experiences on this forum. Good luck.

My husband and I are both having the band surgery in Tiajuana, Mx on Nov 13. I'm excited, but also nervous. Has anyone done it same day as their spouse? I'm a bit concerned that there won't be anyone there with us to help out. I just hope there are no complications for either one of us since we'll be so far from home. I've been enjoying reading posts on this forum. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions before it's all over.

New Member & Waiting for 11/13
LanieB replied to LanieB's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The dr doing it is Martinez (parner of Ortiz, I think). Thanks for the words of encouragement. We still haven't checked into who we'll use for the aftercare. Did you have to go back to Tiajuana to have the second procedure? Finances probably won't allow us to do that. Hopefully we'll find somewhere closer to have the fills and take care of matters that may come up. You're doing great. I can't wait to say I've lost 31 lbs! -
21 pounds in the first month sounds great to me. Hope I can do that well! Keep up the good work.
