    girls night out

i have a girls night planned tonight (movie and drinks) and I am a flurry of emotion...I feel embarassed I can't partake b/c I was so overweight that I had to have surgery and can't have a drink with friends, happy that I won't drink too much, eat too much and feel like crap in the morning, sad because I really could use a drink today () and excited that in a few months, I will be able to handle this much more maturely...Agh!!

    girls night out

I made it!! I am now home, tired but sober...It is amazing how much time (and calories) I spent on my social life--Coming home late, smelling of smoke and sleeping half of the next day used to sound like a normal girls night, but tonight was different and I kinda liked it!:cursing: Not to say that I will never drink again, but tonight showed me that my life isn't going to end if I don't partake with my girlfriends. Thanks for the support!

    January 29th anyone????

I began mushies today!! Never been so excited to eat tuna and cottage cheese!! How is everyone else doing with the mushy diet? Any ideas? (maybe I will post seperately on the Jan '09 board to get a wider view!)
  8. I was banded yesterday and I am feeling great! None of the left shoulder pain or anything! I have been up and around as much as possible and even took the dog for a walk! While in the hospital, I walked every hour for 10 minutes (mostly b/c I couldn't sleep). I am trying my best with full liquids and Water today, but am definitely not where I need to be! How did everyone else do?? Check In when you can! Kristil

    299.5~My Journey

Hey, I'm still alive!! I made it through surgery with little fuss, had some painful gas for the first couple of days, but now I am 95% back to normal! I do tire a little easier (maybe because I am eating like 400 calories a day?? ), but I am working on getting that Protein and Water in! I might be brave enough to weigh myself tomorrow, since my postop is not for another week... Take care! Kristil

    What if...? cheese?

Ivernous...I was just banded last Thursday, and I am still on full liquids, so the cheese thing is not an issue, yet...But, I will certainly try to make it a (responsible) part of my diet in the future. I, too, my friend, am in love with cheese! (clearly, no one else knows the glorious satisfaction of a wonderfully sharp cheddar?!) Seriously, you will make it! I am over three weeks without all of the foods that I 'loved', and I am here to tell you that it is not impossible! Hell, by the time that I can have it, I might not like cheese anymore! (not likely, but possible!)

    January 29th anyone????

I am on full liquids (carnation instant mixed with powdered milk and skim milk)...I am not nearly getting in enough protein or water. (Maybe 12-15 oz of each per day!) I can't tell if I am full or gassy, so I stop and try again later...How is everyone else making out?

    January 29th anyone????

I think that I will wait to hop on the scale at my two week appt...with all of the bloating I feel, I am scared that I haven't lost anything!! I am on full liquids until Friday and am already anticipating that mushy food phase! On the liquids, I have been only able to get around 3 or 4 oz of CIB or soups at a sitting. I sip my water constantly (I keep it by the bed for middle of the night sips!) I have gone cold turkey off the percocet and tried the liquid tylenol, which is helping...Only a little while longer until we are feeling 100%!!
  13. I was banded on 1/29 and just had a little diarrhea as well...is that common? I thought constipation was normally the issue?? I am not feeling much pain at all, just a little when a burp or passing gas is coming, but it just lasts for a little while. Hang in there...in a couple of months,we will not even remember this first couple of weeks! Kristil

    January 29th anyone????

what is everyone taking to the hospital? so far, I have jammies, slippers, toiletries (body wash, toothpaste, face wash and wipes, deodorant...), gas x, spirometer, ID, insurance card, magazines/book, phone and charger and a small pillow....anything else? (I am a big believer in overpacking, can you tell?) Good luck to Everyone tomorrow!! Check in as soon as you can! :cursing: Kristil
  15. I just wanted to hear from some other stay at home moms (or dads!!) who have been banded or plan to be soon...I am nervous about the weight restrictions for lifting. My doctor said that I could lift 15-20 lbs for very short periods, but I have a squirrel-y 15 month old (and a 3 year old and a 4 year old!). I am just nervous about jarring something loose! :huh2: What strategies did you use to handle the little ones? (I will be enlisting help where I can, btw!) Thanks!

    January 29th anyone????

I just found out this weekend that I am scheduled for the 29th! I am super nervous about this huge life change, but am glad that it is almost here...I start the pre-op diet on the 15th and have a full day of pre-op testing on the 16th. I hope we are able to keep in touch and track progress and support one another! Kristil

    Fist city (aka Richmond!)

Alyx--I am also with Richmond Surgical (Dr. Brengman). I will be having surgery at St. Mary's. I have the nutrition workshop in a couple of weeks and have done everything else...I am pretty effing nervous, but this is exactly what I need to turn things around! Keep in touch; maybe I will run into you at the office!

New to all this.. live in Richmond, VA

I am a couple of months behind on this discussion, but I am also in Richmond (well, actually Midlothian!) and met with Dr. Brengman a couple of weeks ago. I really like the group and am very confident that I am in safe hands! I am meeting with Dr. Fitzhugh (psychologist) tomorrow and then they will send my info for approval...I am so excited to begin this new chapter of my life... Kristil
  23. I am very new to this whole process, but have been gobbling up all of the info that I can over the past couple of days here and online...I am 32 years old, with three children (aged 3, 2, and 1) Unfortunately, since they are all adopted, I cannot blame the weight on three back-to-back pregnancies!! :crying: I lost my father earlier this year and I am scared to death to ever have my children feel the same sadness/anger because I didn't do everything that I could to be happy and healthy...anyway, I am dying to get more info (especially from those in the Richmond VA area or other stay at home moms) My biggest concern is if I will be able to care for my children adequately in the weeks following banding/should I get a nanny for that time. I have my informational seminar on 10/8. At this point in time, I am ready to move forward and begin my new life! I see that this is such a great resource/support site! Thanks already!!
