daqui26 replied to karibensea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that lump in your throat that you cant get out, i have the same feeling. i keep wishing for just one good burp. im not sure what is causing that, im 1 week post op. i called my doc and they told me to start using prilosec otc and that as long as its not stopping me from swallowing i should be ok. its just annoying though. call your doc, thats why you paid them. -
Help! Banded yesterday(7/28) & in pain!
daqui26 replied to AmyNsaint's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im a week post op and i agree with everything that has been said. the pain does get much better, days 2-4 was my worst. i regretted getting it but i knew it was mostly in my head due to the pain i was in. i thought ppl who said it would get better was just being nice, lol, but it truly does get better. the meds i was prescribed put me to sleep for longer than 1 hour or so, i would call the dr and ask for something stronger. try to start moving around more too, it has helped. dont push yourself too hard though, listen to your body. i ope you start feeling better. -

Who knows about your surgery?
daqui26 replied to Rocky_Mountain_Mama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it really upsets me when people say why are you ashamed of your band. not telling someone you have it or want it should not always be looked at as shame. to me its privacy. my family knows but my in-laws do not, no shame there. they dont care for me and i dont care for them. they will talk about me no matter how i look, the same goes for co-workers. 3 of my closest co-workers know, the others do not need to know. we dont talk about anything outside of work so why should my personal business be an ice-breaker. some people can be influenced by what others say and if you are that type of person keep it to yourself. i was a few years ago when i first thought about WLS, a friend told me i was not big enough for it. and i said you might be right and stopped researching. once you make up your mind stick to it. this is for you not them. you choose who you want to tell based on your own feelings. i'd tell a stranger before i told my in-laws or co-workers. now ain't that a shame. -
I'll be glad when I can........ get rid of this freaking gas pain. just had to throw that in there.

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
daqui26 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi all i had srgery around 10:30ish, i can't remember the exact time i was in recovery. my heart rate and BP was high and kept rising. the nurse told me it was 104 right after surgery and she called the anesthiologist once it reached 113. i told her i had to pee but she did not want to get me up. once he called back he said he thught i might need more fluids and to take me to pee before giving me more. by this time my heart rate was 117. well after my BR trip it immediately went down to 104 and my BP dropped. went to xray band looked ok, went to my room. stayed there a few hours longer my choice, i wanted to make sure i was comfy with my vitals. when i was asked i told them i was ready to go. today was a little worse than yesterday as far as pain goes. i was walking around yesterday and im up to abt 10 mins per walk. the NP told me for the 1st week to walk 15 min every hour im awake, im getting there. the gas is horrible like most of you said, once thats gone i can deal with the other pain. its not bad at all. excuse the typos, no contacts and of couse under meds safe recovery to us all -

kartman well said. i will use those lines the next time im called a cheater.
-
:frown: well i was on the phone with my sister today and she was telling me about her loss so far from 318 to 289 which i think is great. anyway she said i have to start working harder so that you don't beat me since you are cheating. now she said this while laughing but i know in her mind im cheating. i just can't figure out why people think we are cheating. that could be why people keep their surgeries to themselves...to avoid other people's comments/opinions. i asked my husband abt it and he was like yeah it is cheating, i spent 30 mins (wasted time) trying to explain why i KNOW this is not cheating. So my question is deep down do you think you are cheating by getting the band? if i'm a cheater so be it...
