  1. Happy 54th Birthday clempier!

  2. Happy 53rd Birthday clempier!

  3. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary clempier!

  4. Hi,

Don't worry, the sutures are going to melt by themselves. I hope everything is fine with you. Remember, you will have to work to lose the excess pounds. The lapband is a great help but you have to be careful what you eat, how much you and priority: exercice. You will also have plateau even if you do everything right but it's all worth it.

If you have anymore questions, I'll be happy to answer them well, I hope I'll be able to.

Talk to you later, take care

  5. Hi Dona, You're doing very very well. Like you say, if you're able to cook and everything it means you're ready and it's a good thing. I'm sure everything is going to be fine and you won't regret your decision. Keep on the good work.
  6. Hi Dona, I forgot to ask you how you were since you started your Boost Diabetic? Must be harder during the Holidays but it's SO WORTH IT!!!!! So, keep on the good work. clempier
  7. Hi Dona, I don't know if it's going to be the same for you but about my bowel mouvement, of course it's way less than what it was before because you eat way less so it goes together. Eating your fibers helps a lot like "Fiber 1". Usually, every second day I would go. There's no problem with the pills just maybe the vitamins ones but I use shewable ones. I hope those infos. are going to help you. I know before the surgery we have so many questions so if you have other questions, don't be shy. I'll try to answer them the best way I can. By the way, Happy Holidays! clempier
  8. Hi Dona and all the other ones, I'm so happy for you. It's been 6 months now since my surgery and I never regreted one minute of it. I lost 53 pounds so far. It's going down little by little. I have to say that being 50 and having diabetes don't help but putting clothes aside because there too big is awesome. The 2 weeks on Boost diabetic is nothing but you have to stay focus. Because if you don't lose the fat around your liver, they can postpone your surgery. So, think first before cheating. The surgery is so worth it, I would run to have it again. I also stop smoking a couple of years ago and it's more difficult then taking Boost but then again I'm so happy I'm not smoking and I have no desire to start again. Gook Luck,
  9. HI,

I'm a newbie living in Nova Scotia and wanting to have lap band surgery. Is there a huge wait list to see Dr. Savoie for sugery? Also, what is the approximate cost?

    thanks very much! ;)

New to Diabetes and Lap Band

Hi Westonrose, Thank you so much for telling me that. By the way, for a 40 years old lady you sure don't look like it. You look like a 30 year old one. I was banded June 3rd of this year and I lost 45 pounds so far. Probably because I'm diabetic and I'm 50 years old the weight is going down really slowly but at least it's going down not up as it use to be. I have an appointment with my Dr. in 2 days and I'm going to ask if she can ask for that test. Thank you. clempier
  11. Hi to all, Sorry if I haven't be on but I'm a teacher and the beggining of each year are always ectic. As you all know, I had my surgery last June and I lost 45 pounds so far. Being 50 and having diabetese makes it harder to lose weight as fast as I would or could do. Although, doing it slowly is good in a way because the skin has time to replace itself where it belongs. Next month will probably be the last time I go for a fill. For the ones who are wondering if Dr. Savoie is good with the follow ups. Don't worry, Dr. Savoie is a fantastic surgeon and he takes care of his patients. The bariatric teams are awesome. Don't be shy to call if you have any questions. I do call them and they are always nice with me and they won't give you stupid answers. If they don't know, they'll check and call you back. Having that surgery was one of the best thing that ever happen to me. The Boost phase wasn't that bad. The surgery itself and the recovery wasn't hard at all. A surgery remaind a surgery and you have to follow their instructions. At the clinic, there's a poster saying that you can follow a course called "My health, my choice" and there's a phone number you can call if you want to join. I'm going to start a course January 22nd in French at "Le Centre Chrétien Évangélique" in Beresford. Other people give the course in English too. Just call and they'll put you on a list. The course is for people with chronic sickness but after that course maybe you'll be interesting to start a support group just for lapbands. I would be happy to join you. clempier

    Dr. Beausoleil (Moncton N.B.)

Hi Sarah, I had my surgery last June and I'm 50 years old. I'm sending you this message mainly for 2 reasons. The first is to encourage you not to be scared about the loose skin. A 50 years old skin is way looser than a 21 years one one and I can say so far so good. I lost 45 pounds so far and nothing is hanging. I don't know after a 100 pounds but we'll see when we get there. The second reason is to reassure your parents. It's one of the best thing that happen to me. It's a second chance in life and since you're so young, you have a beautiful life ahead of you. On top of that I'm diabetic which you don't want to have. I've been overweight since I was 10 and I ended up being diabetic type 2 when I was 36 or so. Let me tell you this, I would do it again at this instant. I have no regret none what so ever. I'm well and the lapband is a none invasive procedure so go for it girl. clempier
  13. Bonjour Liz,

  14. Hello ....

Great news...i heard back from Dr. Savoie's office and I have my first appointement with him on October 26th. What should i expect from that point on? How much time before the operation?

    How are things with you?

    LizCNoel

Pierrette
