Hi All! I was banded on the 22nd, and am down 21 pounds so far!!! Still in some pain from the gas settling in my chest, and I have a deep bruise from the anesthesiologist giving me a sternal rub to wake me up. It doesn't matter though, I would go through it again in a heartbeat!!! Thanks for all the support and kind words, Sloane

Las Vegas November Meet Up, Sunday November 23
Purplesloane replied to FeliciaLevy75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone:smile2: I haven't been able to post since surgery, so I thought I would update y'all. I was banded last Wednesday (10/22) by Dr. Atkinson. As of today, I have lost 21 pounds!!! I really cannot believe how fast the weight is coming off. I know I'm not going to lose this fast for very much longer, but I am enjoying it while it lasts. I have had some trouble with pain over the lastr week. Not from the port or any other incision sites, but from a combination of gas settling in my chest and the vigorous sternal rub that the anesthesiologist gave me. I am bruised from my collarbone to my breast on the left side of my chest. Apparantly I had a hard time coming out of anesthesia, but I think that Dr. Link had the urge to dance a merry jig on my chest for fun. Anyway, all the pain is worth it, and I cannot wait to get healthy. By the way, sign me up, I will definitely see you all at lunch in November!!! Sloane -

Hi All! Thank you all for the kind words and wishes. I haven't been able to post since my surgery, so I wanted to share my status with everyone. I was banded on 10/22, and have LOST 21 POUNDS in the last week!!!!!!! My BMI went from 59 to 54. The worst pain for me has been from the sternal rub that the anesthesiologist had to give me to wake up. I have a huge, deep bruise on my chest. Also, it is taking a little longer than normal to get rid of all the gas pressure in my chest, but it is all worth it. I am so excited to be on my way to a better me. Thanks to everyone for the support! Sloane -

Hello All! I am scheduled for LBS on Wednesday (October 22). I am starting with a BMI of 59. I am excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time. I am glad to have found this forum and will update everyone soon! -
I just joined LBT, and live in Henderson, NV. My surgery date is scheduled for 10/22/08 with Dr. Atkinson. So I don't think I'll make the October 25th shindig, but I look forward to meeting you all soon.

I have been a guest on this website for a long while, and decided to join last week. I am happy to have found a group of people who know exactly what I am and will be going through. I have been jumping through hoops for my insurance comany since April and am happy to report that I have my pre-op appointment next Wednesday, and am scheduled for surgery on October 22nd (Hooray!!!). I am excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time. I look forward to hearing from some of you, and will be here to lend an ear if you need it.

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!

There are so very many moments I would rather forget, but here is a couple of examples from people I should have felt safe with: 1. I asked my Mom to pick up tampons for me at the store, and she was extremely surprised that I could use them. She assumed that because I was so fat, I wouldn't be able to use anything but pads! I explained to her that I could also wipe myself on my own and have intercourse just fine. Thanks Mom  2. In the fourth grade, our teacher had us play a game where everyone had to decide what celebrity the other students looked like, and attach a sign indicating the celebrity on the persons back. We all had to walk around without knowing what was on our backs and try to guess at the end of twenty minutes who our classmates had chosen to assign us. Wouldn't you know that I was the only one left standing, and when I finally ripped the sign off of my own back, it said MISS PIGGY! Everyone including my teacher was hysterical....not so funny if you ask me. -
