Help! Why Aren't the Scales Moving

I'm so glad you posted this! I was starting to feel a little bit like that. When I went to mushies--I was terrified for one thing, that I'd start gaining. In fact, I did gain 1.5 pounds one day and about had a heart attack! I was also having some constipation problems. But weird thing is, once I started going---I went all liquid again. Maybe it was something I had eaten, but I lost 3 pounds between yesterday and today because of it. If you like warm tea, try that. It seemed to help me "get going.":crying: Has anyone had this problem? When I got home from the hospital, I felt the restriction BIG TIME---although my band had not been tightened at all. I believe it was just from the swelling in there...but now I don't feel that hardly at all. And I'm SO scared I'm eating too much...because I'm feeling alot more hungry now. Not sure what to do about that??? Also this past Tuesday I thought I had torn something inside because my one big incision was hurting really bad Tuesday night. Everytime I'd wake up during the night and tried rolling over, it hurt just terrible. Then when I got up in the morning and got in the shower, I just about passed out. In fact, if I stood upright at all,I would have passed out. So I crawled out of the shower, got down stairs and had my daughter call my husband. (He was working the 7PM- 7AM shift, so due to be home in 1/2 hour) So he came right home, I called the Dr who told me to come to the ER. (which is 45 mins away) So they did x-rays and blood work, and found out I was dehyrated!!? That didn't even cross my mind--I thought I had torn something inside because I had lifted my 2 yr old the night before. But thank goodness, that's all it was. So they gave me 2 bags of fluids and I felt better pretty quick. They said all the pain was from being dehyrated too...which I didn't realize would happen. My surgeon came in and told me that at this stage your body is working super over time to heal up all that tissue that was cut through--also where the port is stitched in..so I guess I just used up more of my body's resources than I realized. So I'm trying to up my liquid intake (although I thought I was getting plenty!). Sorry I wrote a book!!
  2. Froggi- Thanks for setting this up for us!! Good luck tomorrow! You'll do great!! I had my surgery 17 days ago and I feel pretty darn good. The gas pain after surgery and the nausea after surgery was the worst for me. Then this last week I became dehyrated and that was NOT fun! But after 2 bags of fluid, I snapped out of it pretty good.☺ Anyway---here's my stats: Surgery date: November 6th Pre-op diet weight: 261 Surgery Weight: 250 ( I think...I can't remember for sure?!) Current Weight: 235 Goal 155

    Surgery Tomorrow!!

Here goes I guess!! Actually, I'm not nervous at all, just excited. I've done my 2wks of liquid diet, did my bowel prep last night---so I guess I'm ready!! Any words of wisdom?

    Tomorrow is my big day!!!

Cool, there's a bunch of us going in tomorrow!!:smile2: I don't have any "what if" feelings I guess. Like you said, we've worked so hard to get to this point....it's just the right thing to do!! Good luck to us all!!!
  5. Like MLJALWAYS said, there's quite a variety of the liquid diet out there. Mine was strictly liquid for 2 wks. I needed to stay right around 1000-1050 calories. I could have 16oz of V-8 type juice and OJ also, otherwise, Clear Liquids. So this is what I typically eat during the day. Breakfast: Jello Jigglers, 4oz Protein shake, apple juice Snack: Gatorade, SF jello cup Lunch: 4oz Protein Shake, broth mixed with V-8 juice (wamed up, tastes like soup- way yummy!) Snack: OJ, Special K2O Water, SF Jello Supper: 4oz protein shake, broth w/ V-8 "soup" Snack: Glass of juice, popsicle, Tea Then I could have as much sugar free jello or beverages as I wanted to---if I still felt hungry.
  6. Mine was strictly liquids---I wonder why Dr's do it differently? It really wasn't that bad. Day 4-5 were pretty bad, I got a migraine. I think I just didn't get in enough calories. I'll also be on liquids for 2wks after the surgery...
  7. Well---tomorrow is my surgery date!! I've been on liquids for 2 wks now--did the colon cleanse thing last night (not so fun)..so I guess I'm ready! I'm actually not nervous at all--I'm sure tomorrow I might be,but it just feels so right, no need to be nervous!
  8. Welcome all of the November Bandsters!! I started my liquids today--so far so good!! I'm really excited---but I'm guessing by the end of the 2 wks, I won't be so excited. Last night I was getting everything ready for today....getting drinks measured out, made my shakes ( I heard they taste better if they're really cold,so I wanted them to be in the frig all night)...and I forgot to eat supper! My daycare provider even sent home a WARM dish of apple crisp and I never got to it! Oh well, won't be eating it now!
  9. So the Optifast isn't good? I don't have to have that. I have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 wks prior to my surgery. I start that this Thursday, so we'll see how that goes! They call it clear liquid diet, but we can have some v-8 juices...and jello, etc. Plus, I do have to drink a protein drink (3 times a day)also, but from what I've heard, it tastes pretty good. Let's hope so!!
  10. Hi everyone---new here. I wish I would have found this site a while ago..looks like there's lots of good info here. I just got a call this week that my insurance approved my surgery--I go in Monday for a whole day of tests...and they penciled me in for Nov 6th for my surgery!! Yeah!:w00t: I'm so excited-but scared now too!! Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Amy, mom to 4 awesome kids (My girls are 15 and 2 and my boys are 11 and 8)I've been married 16 years and I'll be 36 tomorrow! I wasn't really overweight until I started having babies...and it's just gotten worse and worse over the years! I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 2006, after the birth of my daughter and then the following year I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthrits. My graves is what I would consider "in remission" right now--but the RA is not so good. Just started a new med though, so hoping for good results. I really believe that losing weight will help my joints overall!! I started using a C-Pap machine about 3 wks ago, so that's been interesting--but good. I weigh 260 right now, so hoping to lose 100-110 pounds. Seems like a HUGE goal, but I'm confident I can do this!! Anyway---now that I've written a book.... I look forward to getting to know you!

    I got a surgery date!

52 pounds in 5 months!? That is awesome!!! I can't even imagine that at this point! You're doing great!!
  12. I'm scheduled for Nov 6th. Yeah!! I go Monday for tests all day, so hopefully that all goes well! I'm also very nervous---but I'm so excited. I just want to get it done now! I'm not going through the "eating my last supper" though--I'm kind of the opposite. I've been eating better this week since I got the approval. Seems like if I start now, it'll be easier once I start the liquid diet. Does everyone do the 2 wk liquid diet here then? (before surgery) By the way...anyone else in Iowa?
