Same here. I cried so much those first several days. It'll pass though, hang in there!

Oh my gosh girl! ! I wish we were near you to come and hug you! ! You are not a failure at all!! You were thinking of your child when you did this to be healthier! The chances of this happening are so small, I am just so so sorry it happened to you! !! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I have the hydrocodone but my goodness, it is so strong and stays in my system for too long! Makes me loopy!
-
Can't have ibuprofen with the RNY. :-(

I went to work today for 4 hours. Oh my goodness, I was in so much pain by the time I left. I rested for a few houra, then went for a nice long walk (holding my belly most of the way). We walked to my parents house and then my mommy drove me home. I couldn't have walked back. Having more sharp pains tonight, (rather than a deep ache) but it's still right at that incision site. Called the Dr.s office today to see if there was a liquid tylenol they could prescribe. ( a friend told me she had gotten some a few years ago) they said they can't get it anymore. She suggested just cutting my pills. I hate swallowing pills. Oh well.

Back in 2010 when I had lost 85 pounds (with lap band) I was at 175. I went to Vegas with my best friends and I had a swimsuit from Lands End. It was a tankini top and a short skirt bottom. The top had rushing (how the heck do you spell that?) So it was very flattering. I LOVED how I felt in it!! Oh. The top had underwire in it too so it held up the saggy girls! I cannot wait until I can get into it again!! It was a regular size 16 I think.

I had about 1/2 cup of cream of wheat (made with 1 1/2Tbs mix and 1/2 cup milk) for breakfast today. Guess milk isn't going to sit very well. Really nauseated right now. Ugh. And of course I'm at work this morning. Should have just stuck to my egg! I had also made a coffee drink this morning. It was a pumpkin latte. Made with milk and real pumpkin mixed unto the coffee. Ewww, I took one sip and that was it. Sounded much better than it tasted!

Pureed ham, mashed potatoes mixed with tiny bit of cottage cheese and protein mix, and pureed green beans. Oh my gosh!!! So delicious!!!! I could only eat about 1/3 of it, but enjoyed every bit of it!!

Oh! Guess what else I got to do today!! I had a scrambled egg for breakfast! ! ( which was sorda brunch because I slept really late - thanks hydrocodone) so then I brought along some mashed banana and applesauce to have after my dr. Appt. Well, that didn't work since I spent over 4 hours in the ER and then it had sat too long in my van. But...When I finally got home, this is what I had!

Way to go Auri!!! I'm down 26 pounds as of today and I lost 16.5" All I've worn is my yoga pants since surgery! But I had bought some new shirts to wear with my yoga pants. 1x instead of 2x. And those are fitting well. But I'm going to work tomorrow for a few hours and haven't tried on any of my work clothes yet. I'm sure with my right belly hurting I won't be able to wear my jeans so hopefully some of my dress pants fit good enough! :-) (i can pretty much wear whatever I want at work...besides yoga pants! )

Ok. I'm home! ! Labs are all ok my liver and kidneys are good. CT scan showed ALOT of swelling with that one incision and some free Fluid below that incision. But they aren't really worried about it. If my pain gets worse I need to let them know right away. I need to take tylenol more consistently. I won't take the prescription pain meds unless totally necessary. Like last night. But I hate taking it. I still feel the effects of it today. But no infection, so that's good! I was worried they left some chunks of gauze in there or something! Lol! When I bend over or if I'm laying down and bend my knees up, it feels like something is in there. But it's just the swelling, whew!! Beni- the itching after surgery has always happened with me after any surgery. I guess I thought that was normal!? I'll be sure to ask about that at my next appointment. I was able to pull off all my step - strips finally today...except the one larger incision. I'd love for it to come off too so I can clean that area up better. But I'm not yanking it off too early. Thanks for everyone's thoughts today!!

Ok friends. Send some good thoughts my way! I went for my 2 week check up and told the Dr. ( well, the PA is who I saw, love her! ) about all this right side belly and back pain I'm having. She mushed around on my belly ( holy ouchness!!) And said she'd like me to go over to the ER to get checked out further. ( mu surgeon is out if town. Crap) so I'm in the ER niw. IV in, labs drawn, peed in a cup, getting some fluids and waiting for radiology. I believe they're going to do a CT to see if anything bad is going on in there. I feel pretty good other than this nagging right side pain. So I don't know...guess we'll see.

To be expected! You'll do great! I'm 2 weeks post op. Feeling better each day.

REVISION to Bypass
amylynns replied to lindsaybhill's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had the RNY on the 20th, after having my band out last December. Mine went well also. The only bad part for me was the 2 1/2" scar I had from where they took the port out was still sore when I touched that area. (I'm assuming scar tissue) Well, with this surgery they used that same incision, so it's really sore now. :-( I think they did clean up some of the scar tissue though, so hopefully when it's all healed up it won't be so tender. But yes, the surgery in general went well! -
Whoohooo! !! I bet that feels amazing after 6 days!! As much as I get a little frustrated going so many times a day...I am glad I'm not constipated! I do wonder why I go so much though!? Something I'll ask about at my 2 week check up tomorrow.
-
Good for pushing forward Layknee! You truly are an inspiration to us all!! You may have some remorse right now but I bet once you get through this rough part you're going to be very happy with your decision. You're going to be healthy! And as beautiful as always! !!

Yay!!! So glad you were finally able to go! I've pretty much gone every time I drink a "meal." Not much to go, but I'll see what happens once I start some more solid foods. I'm going to try going back to work some half days on Tuesday. Hope it goes ok for you. Don't over do it. :-)

So sorry for our gladiators in so much pain!! My period is due tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it! Something else to deal with while I'm still trying to heal. Ugh...maybe it won't come. That'd be nice! We went to Wisconsin this weekend to help move my Grandma into an assisted living place. I just hung out with Grandma while my sweet man and family did all of the work! Eating (drinking) was a struggle. I realized I didn't bring a bowl with to mix my broth/protein. So last night we stopped at culvers, I ordered chicken noodle soup and asked for an extra empty bowl. I drained all the broth into the extra bowl and mixed my protein in. That worked. Then this morning I realized I didn't save the bowl to my breakfast. Duh. So I decided I would try a bite of egg a day early. (I have my 2 week check up tomorrow and my dr. Said to try a scrambled egg before I come) I chewed until there basically wasn't anything left to swallow, lol. I ate 3 tiny little bites and that was enough. Felt amazing to chew!! :-) so far it's sitting just fine. We have a 3 hour car ride home and I get car sick so I'd better get off here now. :-)

I haven't had to take pain meds, other than Tylenol since the day after I got home. But it was making me sick to my stomach. (Liquid Lortab) there's days when I feel like I need more than the tylenol though. I have only one incision area that's giving me most of the pain. It's about 2 1/2" long. My 7 other little ones aren't bad. You could try tylenol every 4 hours and see if that's sufficient?
-
I am having a hard time getting in calories! All I can get down a day is 2 bowls if broth with the unflavored protein, then a few 100% fruit, no sugar added popsicles and maybe a jello cup. Then I sip on a big water jug that I mix half & half with apple juice all day. I am so full!!

When I had surgery last year I tore a little muscle in my stomach after picking up something at work that was heavy. They did a CT scan to figure it out. Nothing can could do unfortunately but give it time to heal. But good to get it checked in case it's something torn inside.
-
Oh goodness, why did they have to do it open?? Take the extra time in the hospital to rest up well before you go home! I bet you are in more pain than expected. Darn it! Sip sip sip that water!!
-
I agree, give your surgeon a call. Better to be safe and get it checked out. Hope it gets better!!

Awesome Beni!! So no gas pains? I expected gas pain between my shoulders (where I'd had it with previous surgeries) but this time it was a all lower abdomen and back. But I found when I bent over just a bit I could burp out alot and then we'll, ya know....sit on toilet quick! :-) I can happily say now though, I can safely trust a fart once again!!! (It's the little things in life that excite me!) Oh, and yes the burping and belly noises do indeed get better!!
