I just don't think I can do this.
Txnurse replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not posted in a while, nor have I updated my ticker. I have now lost 39 pounds since my surgery Oct. 14, 2008. I just wanted to encourage you. You have to get those fills for this to work. I had my fourth fill last week and I finally know what they mean by restriction. I had been able to eat any and everything up until this point. Since the fill I have found that I cannot tolerate many foods that I was eating. I am one of those who still eats what I can, just less of it. First example, I ate fajita nachos this weekend and I could only get two of them down. That is it. Just hang in there. The band is a tool and it has to adjusted properly, so that it will work for you. Good luck. Hang in there! -
Hi Matjazty I have the whey protein from Wal Mart and I like it. I mix it with skim milk for even more protein. I'm pretty picky about drinks and I think it is good. Have you been banded yet? I was on Oct 14. I've now lost 18 lbs, but I haven't updated my ticker. Things are going good. I go for my first fill Thurs. Can't wait.

Hi Sarah. I was also banded on 10/14. I can honestly say that my pain has not been bad. The last day I took pain med was Thurs. 10/16. On Friday I took two doses of Tylenol and have had nothing since. My biggest problem was the fatigue. Until yesterday it was horrible. I took two or three naps a day. Today was a good day. I didn't need a nap and we took the kids to the movies. I also haven't been very hungry. I was on Clear liquids the first 48 hours and now am on full liquids. I try to drink two Protein drinks a day but am finding that hard. Today I had a Protein Drink, some tomato soup and some broth from the chicken and dumplings that my family had for dinner. I am going to try to get the last Protein drink in before bedtime. My husband has also been really wonderful. He has taken care of everything for me. I feel guilty just sitting while he cooks, cleans and does laundry, and he feels guilty for eating in front of me. I hope all continues to progress well. Kim

That is a long time. I am on pre-op now and only on high protein/low carb/low fat diet until my surgery on 10/14. Post-op is 48 hours of clear liquids then advance to mushies. ie watered down cream of wheat, grits, apple sauce, etc. Good luck and hang in there. It is tough but so worth it.

Congrats Bobbi!!!!! You asked about worry of eating around band. Absolutely terrified. I'm also being banded Oct. 14 and I am so afraid of that. I have tried so many other things that didn't work. Good luck to you. Let's keep in touch.

Well, it's almost here. I have a mixed bag of feelings. First and foremost I'm totally excited. I can't wait to start a new life. But, I'm also nervous. I've never been put to sleep. But, my biggest fear is failure. I have only told my closest family members and a couple of my closest friends because I am so afraid that this to will fail. I have tried every weight loss method out there and I will lose about 30 pounds and then I can't go any further. I get frustated, give up, and then gain it all back. I am so afraid of failure yet again. I worry that I will be one of those that are not successful. I feel like this is the final option for me. I know that this is only a tool and I pray I will use it like I'm suppose to.:tt2:

Oct 14 is my date also. It's almost here and I can't wait. I'm on the pre-op diet now. Yuck!!! But that's ok because that will be behind me soon enough. Good luck!!! -
Hello everyone. I'm new here, but I wanted to get started posting. I am scheduled to be banded Oct. 14. I am so nervous. Not just about the surgery, but I also worry that I will fail at this too. Is this normal? I have tried everything out there to lose wt. The most I have every been able to lose is 30 lbs and then I gained it right back. Does everyone worry about this? Am I setting myself up for failure by worrying about this? Any and all advice/suggestions welcome.
