    Sharp pain in side

thanks for replying - makes sense
  5. I had my surgery on Monday, January 12th and I feel good for the most part with one exception. If I do too much walking I have a sharp pain in both of my sides and not necessarily at the same time - kind of like a runners cramp but worse. When I stop and think about it, it seems like it's about the position of the port on one side and about where the band is located on the other side. Has anyone else experienced these pains? I'm wondering if it's because I'm internally bruised or if it's just gas rolling around in there. How long will it be before there is no pain/discomfort? Also, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a popping noise from the site of their port. Day 4 after surgery I was laying down in bed and tried moving from my back to my left side and I heard a "pop" sound. It didn't hurt at all and it reminded me of a bubble wrap "pop" sound. I called the doctors office the next day and talked to the nurse who didn't seem real concerned/alarmed. She said she wrote it on my chart and to be sure to mention it to the doctor at my follow-up appointment on the 28th of January.

    January 12th bandsters

WOW!!! It's amazing how many people are going through exactly what I've been through during this journey we've been on. I have had pretty good days since about Saturday but it seems at least once during each day I've been stricken with a horrible stabbing pain in my sides (almost like a runners cramp). I'm hoping today will be my first day without pain as I have returned to work full-time today. I would also like an invite to your blog. My email address is speerdvnprt@aol.com
  7. Congrats on your band. I hope it is a great sucess for you! I hope you feel better soon and come back to work! Love ya!

I have to be at the hospital at 8am and the time I was given for surgery is 10am but also reminded that sometimes they can't always be on time depending on other surgeries. I'm staying overnight. Anyone else staying overnight? I'm going to Wal-Mart tonight to stock up on my post-op diet needs. Who would think you'd get excited buying such blah stuff?!?!?

    Hello from Iowa

It's nice to see a fellow Davenport person on the board! I plan on being at the next support group meeting (I think it's Jan 22nd). I usually go with a friend of mine who had her surgery in September. We can start our own support group  My email address at work is kimberly.a.speer@conus.army.mil and my address at home is speerdvnprt@aol.com. I usually read my work email more frequent. I won't be there January 12-19 of course because of the surgery - I'm getting really excited!

    January 12th bandsters

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've been to this thread - off work and computer at home is not working (taking it to be repaired today). I can't believe we'll all be having surgery next week. I'm pretty excited! I started my pre-op diet last week (29th of Dec). I'm doing really good and haven't cheated at all. So hard to do when everyone around you is eating like they've always done. I have sleep apnea and have had a CPAP maching for the last 2 yrs. I haven't been using it and I've been honest with the doctor about not using it. He wants me using it and told me that I need to bring it to the hospital with me. I had an incident Saturday night after I went to sleep where I woke up in a panic. The mask slipped off and made that awful sound that it makes and it was then I realized I felt like there was no air (I also forgot to leave the ceiling fan on). I had a slight panic attack and started walking around. I ended up in the kitchen wanting to snack soooo bad. I had to tell myself to take a deep breathe. For some reason I was telling myself that I was starving myself to death and what the heck was I doing. Finally, I relaxed and grabbed a cup of Jello. I was able to get back to sleep and had dreams about food. I was at a family picnic and had a black forest cake. It was so real that I felt like I could taste it. That was the CRAZIEST thing ever!!!! I woke up the next day and felt fine. Obviously I'm missing my sweets. Anyone else having a hard time adjusting before surgery or am I the only crazy one out there? By the way, if any of you want to email me, here are my email addresses. Work: kimberly.a.speer@conus.army.mil Home: speerdvnprt@aol.com Obviously I won't be at work the 12th. I won't be returning back to work until the 20th. Hopefully, I get my home computer back soon so I can log on during the recovery period for all of us.

    Hello from Iowa

Hi there!!! I'm from the Quad Cities - Davenport, IA to be exact. Surgery is scheduled for January 12th - YIKES! I go to see the crazy dr. this afternoon - one last time before surgery. January 12th bandsters

Hi fellow January 12th bandsters!!! January 12th for me too :huh2: I am 37 and have 3 sons (20, 17 & 13). I have been divorced for 5 years now and have found myself in a cougar relationship (he's only 28) for over a year now - lol. I have so many people in my life supporting me with this big step and I'm grateful for that. I started this process Oct 8th @ 232 lbs., now at 220. I had to start my pre-op diet today - should be interesting. I see the crazy dr. for the 2nd time tomorrow and my final appt. with the surgeon is Wednesday (31st). The reality is finally hitting me. I am very anxious but also very nervous. Isn't this the normal feeling from everyone? I think it's cool to keep in touch with others who have the same date! :tongue2:
