    Pizza!

I got banded on 9/24/08, just one day before you slim-n-tn and I was wondering if you were eating that whole wheat pita and not having any trouble? I thought we were stillon the mushy phase and I haven't tried any kind of bread yet. I've been mostly having yogurt, oatmeal, over-cooked vegetables, creamed soups and my favorite - mashed potatoes!!
  2. Just had to tell you what an inspiration you are. I was banded on 9/24/08 (2 weeks ago tomorrow) and have lost 13 lbs. I know the weight loss will slow down now that I'm not just on clear liquids, but I just wanted to ask you how to stay motivated when the weight loss slows down. I know I'm allowed to have mashed potatoes now, but I'm afraid if I do I won't lose weight. Can you give me some suggestions for the mushy food phase? You did so wonderful, I would love to get advice from you, if you don't mind. Thanks so much, Helen. PS I don't know where to go to see your response cause I'm new to this, so just in case, my e-mail is hrinelli@yahoo.com. Thanks again, Helen

    Just banded and really unsure

Emmica, so sorry you're not feeling well. I never felt bloated, but I was told before I had the band that I would. They said its from the carbon dioxide that they pump into your stomach during the surgery to give the doctor room to work. It should only take a couple of days to leave your body, but in the meantime, try to get some liquids in you so you don't dehydrate. If you have some sugar-free jello, you could just take a few spoonfuls. Maybe that would go down easy. Definitely call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning. Take your pain medication around the clock in the meantime and I hope that will help you get through this. Great things are coming - don't worry!! In just a week you will feel much better and probably have at least 7-10 lbs off!! You're almost there - just a couple of days of pain and a new life of being slim, healthy & happy!!
  4. I was banded on 9/24 and after 8 days my doctor said I could have well-cooked oatmeal (I have the Quaker 1-min kind and add a tbsp of sugar-free jelly), creamed soups, yogurt and cottage cheese. I have been eating those things with no problem or stomach churning at all, but everyone's system is different. I feel I have a lenient doctor, from what I've heard from others, but its working for me. I'm not saying what you should do, but if you try some things I listed, just have a couple of spoonfulls and see how you feel. Have you been having sugar-free jello and popsicles - if not, they're safe from day one! Good luck to you!

    I'm here to help...

Thanks for responding with those things I have to look forward to, like energy!! Can't wait for that - I'm 55 and have been feeling like 65 and have had knee pain constantly. Started out at 209 and am 197 after 9 days. Can't wait to drop a size! But most of all, I'm hoping that losing the weight will make me feel like 40 again! Hope you're feeling better from you surgery. I'm new to this LBT and still have to figure all the links out and how you get back to seeing the messages you receive. Luckily they send it to your home e-mail or I wouldn't have know I got a response. I'll get it, but I'm a newbie!! Take care, Helen

    Happy Birthday to ME!

HAPPY BAND BIRTHDAY HOLLIE!! And you should be happy with the new person you've become this year - that's an awesome weight loss! I was just banded 9 days ago, but you are an inspiration!!
  7. My daughter works for Planet Smoothie in FL and sent me some packets of the protein they use in their smoothies. They are DELICIOUS!! Its call Lean Body and its by Labrada Nutrition. My poacket say Lean Body for Her, but they have them for the guys too. 30g of protein per packet. You can go to labrada.com and see all the places it's sold, like GNC, etc. I've had the Vanilla and it mixes up in a blender with ice and skim milk to a creamy soft vanilla ice cream consistency - and I only use 1/2 the packet to 8 oz. of milk. I highly recommend it!!

    Just banded and really unsure

Hi there - we are banding twins! I was banded on 9/24 also and have lost 12 lbs. in 9 days too! Its nice to have this website and hear about people in the same place as you are and those who have been banded for several months and how they're doing. I'm excited about my new life-to-come and I'm sure you are too. Can I ask what you are eating on day 9? I've just been having protein shakes, juice/water, yogurt, sugar-free jello, soup - either clear broth or creamed soup, and oatmeal. I never liked cottage cheese, so I won't be eating that. Is there anything different you're having? I'm not hungry at all, just looking for some variety. I'm feeling pretty good, just still sore where the port is. Well, take care and keep up the great work! Feel free to write anytime. Helen

    Wooohoo I'm new :)

I can certainly relate to you, I was always around 125 until I had kids (actually weighed 114 on my wedding day at 23) in my early 30's, but can't say its the baby weight because my first child is 26! I just haven't been able to control my weight for the past 26 years and was so sick of yoyo dieting. I tried every diet out there and couldn't lose more than 10-20 lbs on my own, then when I gave up, gained those pounds back plus another 10! I finally reached 209 lbs and heard about lap band. I just had my surgery last week, 9/24, and am doing great! I lost 10 lbs the first week and am so looking forward to my new life. My BMI was 41 and I'm only 5'1". I can't wait to see myself shrinking a little more each week and that's what will happen to you too, Cat. Good luck!!

    I'm here to help...

I think that is so great of you to want to help others on this struggle to be slim and healthy! I was just banded last week, 9/24/08, so I am so excited to be able to have yogurt and oatmeal today! I have a long way to go, but feel that I have just begun my start of a "new life"! I would appreciate any help and encouragement I could get, especially with what food to add and when. Also, is it true we can never use a straw again? I have an appointment with the nutritionist in 2 weeks, but it would be nice to have someone who has experienced this surgery and can give advice on what works and what doesn't. I'm so glad to have found this website!! Have a great day!
