I am P. LeClair and have found a very valuable friend, my LapBand.  It keeps me right in check - never allowing me to over eat or to eat food that doesn't agree with me.  My friend guides me through the 45 minute eating process and tells me when to stop - or else you will be in a hurry walk to the restroom.    I saw a picture of myself (exactly a couple pictures) - I looked old - drawn - not the person I felt on the inside.  I was short on breath, feeling unattractive to everyone around me.  I had been up and down the scales many times in the last 40 years - but this was my highest..  At 5'2" and 60 years old - I was at my highest weight ever  227 pounds - makes me want to cry now.  I saw an advertisement on TV - and decided to attend the seminar - liked what I heard - asked my husband to attend a second one - without telling him any details.  After the presentation he said I should do this and contact a doctor.  I did all the necessary paper work - x-rays, blood work, dietian, etc. that the insurance wanted me to do - Approved right up to the moment for them to agree to pay - then I was denied.  Forturnately - I was able to pay for the operation (severance from the employer - after a retirement package) - within 7 days I was on the table and set up for my new life.  I lost 12 lbs prior to surgery - and one year later - I was down to 125 - surgery was 2-4-08 and goal one year -  Last year the band got too tight and I went down to 117 - but had band adjustments decreasing and then increasing the cc's - I am currently at the exact place I need to be at.  I have gained back to 128 - but thats a good weight for me.  Been at this weight since Feb 2009.    It was easy - just eat your protein - protein - don't graze, don't eat what is not on the list of foods - you will do good.  My blood pressure at the start was 130/90 - sounds ok - but it was high for me.  I now run  93/65  - that is my normal pressure.  No other issues - thank goodness.
