I agree that the baby asprin will not hurt your lapband.. HOWEVER.. the asprin does thin the blood.. and for that reason my surgeon wanted my asprin stopped before surgery. I'm sure the cardio will allow a temporary stop of the baby asprin.. you can start it back after the surgery.. Talk to your Cardio about it. I had my triple bypass in 1998.. but my Cardio doc was very supportive of all LB surgeon's requests. Good luck.. but talk to your doc.
  4. By the way Everyone... please note that I do have my ticker now... I finally figured it out and got it working... hoorah!! I don't feel like quite the dummy now..
  5. NormaJean, I hope you have solved the Hernia/LapBand surgery delema. I had mine done at the same time. So far, so good. Only problem I have is a colorful abdomen, which doesn't matter, I don't go around with that hanging out anyway. You should do fine. Slow healing, but good to have them both out of the way at the same time

Wow.. Congrats on the new look... Phyllis on your new look too... love the picture. It's been a couple of weeks since my fill... and I have hardly lost anything.. have stayed the same the last 3 weeks. No, I'm not giving up, but sure wish something would change.. downward.. hahaha..I feel I may be eating too much, but I don't feel full. I just try to eat sensibly, hard not to see some changes. Any suggestions, anyone?

Hi Phyliss....Well, Thursday went well with my doc. He was pleased with my weight loss..16 lbs post op.. He said most don't lose at all before the first fill... Personally, I question that, but it's ok. I did get my first fill..1 1/2 to 2 cc fill. I feel a little more restricted, but doing fine. Still excercising at the pool 3 times a week.. with some walking otherwise. Doc said I should really start losing now.. but I see a slow start, however, I'm working hard at it. Keep me in your prayers.. lol, I need all the help I can get. How is the puter problems doing... finding much less I hope.

Hi Phyllis, Going ok... have been losing inches.. now the pounds are starting to go down on the scales..that's always nice. I'm anxious to see what the doc says Thursday, as well. And to see if I need a fill or not. I'll let you know. Sorry about your internet,, what system are they putting in the park. I just had the upgrade to U-verse from AT&T... still getting used to the change.

Thanks Roxie.. I hope you keep doing well. We are all on the same journey.. and want basically the same thing.. our health. Sure it doesn't hurt to look better also,, but I'm so glad to be able to breathe better, and move easier... I still have a long way to go,, but at least I'm on the right road to get there. My next appt is this coming Thur, 10/30.... he will also check to see if I need a fill, I'll keep you posted. In the meantime... Hang In There, we all are.. Pati

Glad you are here Nina... being there for Don is good, and being there for YOU is good too. When is Don having the band? Maybe you and Don can walk together? Don't worry about what you have to Give Up to reach your weight goal, but what you will GAIN while you are reaching it. Don't think of these things as sacrafices, but as detours. Most of the things we give up in the beginning, can be returned farther down the road. With some exceptions, of course. But by that time you won't be missing what you don't have. Put it out of your mind, don't concentrate on the omissions, think up new things to replace them. I thought I would feel so deprived without a sweet treat now and then... now I'm not even tempted. I have sf treats and love every one of them. Think up different things you can fix for Dan, and make it easy for him. By the time you decide whether or not you are going to have the band, you will be a veteran. Good luck to you both. If you want to support Dan... Support Dan, your turn will come later and by then you will be ready. Hang in there. Pati

    please help

Hi NiceNurse... My cardiologist first suggested the gastric bypass for me, then changed his mind.. and recommended the Lap-band instead. His reason is that it is less invasive, and will do the trick just as well. Sometimes losing a little slower is better. You can always get a second opinion.. I'm sure glad I got my band.
  15. NormaJean, I had my band Sept 17,, 4 weeks ago. I too had a hernia in the center, right under my breasts. My doc removed my hernia and did the lapband at the same time. He told me, up-front, that I would have more problems with the hernia repair than with the lapband, but recommended that they both be done at one time. I'm glad he did that. I am still a little sore, but at least I have both surgeries behind me, and am well on the road to recovery... Thank Heavens for new research. Pati :wink2:
