I don't think it hurts at all. My port is located at the end of my breast bone right in the middle of my breasts. I don't have anything for numbing at all and my port has flipped so they have to work on the area to get it right. Good Luck.

I too have a port that flips. However mine is in the center of my breasts. The last time I had a fill he as able to manually right it so there was no need for surgery. It hurt but wasn't anything I couldn't handle. There was a little bruising after. From what I understand it isn't that bad to have it reattached. I have the Realize band and am happy with it as I have hit my sweet spot and do not require any more adjustments. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you!

Anybody else have bankers hours bands? My band won't let me eat before 9 am......no matter what time I wake up. It will get stuck every time. Then I need to eat my last meal for the day at 5 pm. Any later and it gets stuck as well. Very strange to me. I have had two fills I don't need anymore...... Bread, in any form, is soooo painful I wouldn't care if I saw another piece of bread in my life. I know I don't eat very much.....everyone says. I am having IVF treatments, so they tested me for nutritional deficiency and I was completely fine. So I at least know that I am getting what my body needs, now for someone to tell my head that. With kids it is hard to stay on track and not eat on the run or eat bad choices.

Well just got back from a fill. He added 1 cc so it is a total of 6cc's. Found that my port was flipped, but with much effort on his part and much pain on mine, he got it to flip back. After 5 minutes of treating my chest, where my port is, like kneeding dough, I am left with a bruise that goes across my chest:eek:. Ouch!!!! On a better note: I have restriction!!!! I tried to eat a piece of chicken breast and ate 5 bites and was full and actually PB'd.

WOW!!!! Six months? Is there somewhere else you can go? It is strange how diffrent our experiences are in the same country. I sure hope that it is sooner then 6 months for you. My first fill was 4 weeks after, and as you can see have lost a lot of weight. I do not have any restriction what-so-ever, and am just going on willpower to control eating. I do exercise everyday. The fill was under x-ray and was strange. Since my port is in my chest, it was a little scary with the needle going in right there. There wasn't even really a pinch to say of when he inserted the needle. The only thing I can say that I didn't like was drinking the dye. Yuk!! I am going back up there on Sunday for another fill and for him to check the placement of everything. My Port isn't attached on one side so when I lay on my side it goes on it's side. Good Luck! I hope all goes well for you and you have a quick recovery. I was down about a week after surgery. I did go shopping for about and hour and was sooooo tired. Let us know when your surgery is.

Highest was 252 and my goal is 155. The spreadsheet looks great! Now that we are all "numbers", it makes you really want to get that current number down. Thanks :hurray:

I am headed for Disneyworld next week. I was ok'ed to be let loose on the whole park! Just like pre-op and post-op diets, every doctor will very in their restrictions for their patients. You should just give him/her a heads up next time you see them, or give them a call, to say that you are planning a trip in June and you want to know.........and make a list of questions, because you might forget one! I think just about everyone who has been banded as been "there". I have been on Bennifiber since 2 days out from surgery, and am thrilled with it. Good luck!!

Thanks.....I think one of the biggest things to overcome after surgery is "head hunger". Your tummy may be full, but your head says munchies. That is when I get myself busy with something else, take a walk, hang laundry, etc. Keeping busy has helped a lot. Good luck and keep us posted!

Has anyone been to Knott's Berry Farm or Greatest America? We are taking the kids and I want to go on the rides too! Are you allowed to go fast or be upside down? Strange I know but, better be safe then sorry. My surgeon is off for vacation so I can't ask. Anyone know?

I was told, since he put 5cc in the band, that he won't need to see me unless I am not shedding the weight, other then that he wants to checking band placement as I loose weight. He wants a x-ray ever 6 months. I guess I should feel comforted with that, but the thought of drinking that stuff again......makes me sick to my stomach. :biggrin: Do you feel the gurgle when you drink something? That is really strange feeling!!!

Hi Heather, Did you ask your doctor if that is normal? At least it would put your mind at ease. I too had a fill, but my port in in my chest. They didn't even have to numb it. No pain after either. Did they do it under x-ray? I know how you feel about the restriction. He put in 5cc, and to drink a Protein shake took me about 45 minutes. I sure hope that the restriction stays!!!!
