First Fill Question
rdittmar replied to harleymelm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep sometimes that happens to me. I sometimes bruise and sometimes not. It's gotten to the point that the area around the port doesn't have much feeling so I really don't feel the fills with the exception of the pressure. -
Pain In Breastbone
rdittmar replied to georgeileen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I doubt anything ripped! The muscles and tissue is healing and you probably stretched them a bit further. Also depending on how large your tummy is now, when you bend over or move a certain way the weight of the tummy will sometimes cause a burning or sharp pain sensation. I'm speaking from experience in the tummy department! Just take it easy. Make sure you are also sitting down slow and getting up slow. Good luck the recovery time is quick. -
How Would You Describe?

So my big changes are grocery shopping, body perception, energy level, self esteem, calories. So basically I eat to live not live to eat. -
5w4d pregnant with the band
rdittmar replied to gabeekeeper's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
umm no that's not what all banders have to do!! I am 12 wks pregnant and my OBGYN has delivered alot of banders babies... she said it all depends on the pregnancy like usual some are vaginal and some are C-section. My advice to you is find a OBGYN that has experience with lap-band patients. Mine has experience with all three bariatric sugeries!! Congrats!! -
I felt very bloated for at least a week after the surgery. Also for some reason my stomach was more bloated a poked out on the right side. The dr. said it was because of the air that is injected during surgery. It will all go away and yes you do need to walk alot!!!! I even had pain in the arms and shoulders from the air. The calms down each day..... Congrats on your surgery...

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
rdittmar replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost over 100 lbs. -
Believe me you will not have a problem.
-
Well I really have not focused on pounds per week, I have focused on pounds per month. My personal goal was to lose 10-12 lbs per month. The scale moves some weeks and some weeks not. I have been so pleased with my surgery, recovery, and post-op maintance. If you are ready to be dedicated to losing weight for your health then this is the procedure for you. This is a valuable tool to help in the process. If you have any other questions please let me know.

I have more of a complaint not a complication...... So I was banded in Oct of 08 and i have been loving life, however since my two fills and Spring time arriving I have been the walking phlegm girl.... I have been drinking something hot in the morning like my dr & my mom (also a fellow bander) has told me to do. However sometimes it works a little and sometimes it does not. It seems like when I eat the food gets caught in all of the mucus and I can feel the congestion and of course then the food does not want to go down. I have been to my regular md and she says I do not have a cold and my lungs sound clear. My band fill dr. says that some people produce more mucus than others. Basically, deal with it. Soooooo does anyone have this issue and can you suggest any tricks or advice??

I have tried the getting unfilled just a little and then I was fine. So I went back in a month or two later and he added a little more and I was fine until a week or so ago. What kills me about the whole thing is I have never had any allergies or anything until I had the band. I have been on soft and liquids since I have been throwing up lately. My stomach looks visably swollen so I need to let it calm down. Then I will see if I need to get an unfill again or not.

Hello - Dr. Benevides performed my surgery and Mr, Maese takes care of my fills. It is good to see some folks from Dallas.

Ok.... So I am wondering if anyone has been able to firm up their flabby thighs by cycling?? I have been walking briskly on the treadmill for sometime and I have not had much luck. Any advice I have not rode a bike in years.... oh like maybe junior high LOL.

i cant keep fluids down
rdittmar replied to jancar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may be too tight. However if you have not had a fill in a good long while you will have some swelling for a few days. My doc says that if you swallow the water and it just sits there before going down then you are swollen, but if the water comes right back up then to come in a see him. Thank goodness that has only happened to me once. Good Luck and just take it slow. -

Cool... I was banded by Dr. Benevides also... However Dr. Maese gives me my fills since he has an office in Ferris. That is so much closer to me than Richardson. Where exactly is this park located.
