May 2006 Band Crew ~ September Chat

I recently cleaned my closet also, and I gave away five bags of clothes to a friend and donated about three. :clap2: I loved clothes before the weight loss and I love them even more now. I try to stay away from the stores because I know that I am still loosing. But when something special comes up, I need something new to wear because all the bottoms I did keep are a little big. But on the same note when I go and buy new ones they are too big within a couple of days sometimes. I have had some things taken up, but everything can't be.

Well there isn't anything he can do if I am at capacity. I don't feel like i am starving but I think I could have more restriction. I am still doing well, just concerned what happens if I loose the restriction I do have.:phanvan

Ok just checking in, I have lost a couple of pounds since my last post. But I found out something a little disturbing on my liast visit to the doctor. I am at capacity for my fills. What's next? I just have to continue to watch what I eat. But what happens when I hit a plateau and can not loose anymore!

I haven't posted in a long time, but I have been keeping up with everyone's progress. It has been a lot of getting used to but it is worth it all. I am so happy to hear about how well everyone is doing, and for those who are having difficulty, it will all get better soon. Keep up the good work!

    need help menu planning

One of my favorite meals is baked fish:hungry: . I season my fish with very little sea salt and lemon pepper seasoning and lemon slices and bake in the oven. I usually eat steamed broccoli or spinach with it. Another thing that is good is homemade soups with lots of vegatables, it is a one pot meal, I add meat for the rest of the family but I may eat a couple of small bites of it. In case I don't really eat the meat I add unflavored protein powder.:clap2:

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

I was thinking about maybe going again.

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

The lady I went to was licensed and it took about 45 minutes for each session, I can't remember how much it was because she did a package deal for me and my mom. This is what the table and set up looked like where I went. It really isn't as bad as you would think.

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?

:omg: I have had a Colonic in the past before being banded and you would be surprised at what is left in your body even if you do have regular BM's. But I never ordered anything I went to a professional. It is an experience. But normally your body is still not getting rid of all the waste it produces.

To Booze or Not to Booze

Since I have been banded, I've noticed that it doesn't take much for me to get tipsy. I have had a couple of drinks, on the weekend, with my friends and everything has gone fine, no problems yet. Like a couple others here, I mix my favorite liquor with Crystal Lite and it is GREAT! But when you go to the bar or the club you are tempted to order something else, I just take Crystal Lite with me and I'll order some water and straight liquor and mix it myself...sometimes I luck up and they have bottled water. Forget it...just do shots...it won't take that many!:biggrin1:

Any SW or W Houston Bandsters?

Hi, I live in Downtown Houston...Dr. Spivak did my lapband surgery on May 10th. Dr. Spivak and the people in his office are great. Anytime I had a question, they were there. Anyway, good luck with your journey, it is a long one but well worth it.

Child Abuse - what do I do?

Ok, I work for CPS in Houston, TX and not every state handles things in the exact same way. All I can say is, if someone else reports it then matters could be worse. They can hold the mother accountable for not reporting it if they find that something else is going on. In my experiences, if you get a good worker, they go out and do an investigation to see if there are any signs of abuse and or neglect and if not they may advise for counseling or they might not. If it was a one time deal, they might just let it go. But it is better to be safe than sorry. I guess I would rather have to go through therapy or services for a couple of months, than to have to deal with more severe actions.

    Pickles....good or evil??

I love sour pickles:hungry: , but I do not eat the skin. Like with alot of things, I get scared and just spit it out so it doesn't get stuck.

christy668 - The place we went to was an Buffet so it was easy for me to just do the to-go-buffet and eat from there...I think I ate from it may two more times before throwing it away. Most of the people I'm around know about the surgery and are very curious and excited for me. I expected them to ask alot of questions, but sometimes you just want to feel "normal". It takes so long to wat now so when everyone else is finished I'm still eating...slowly...slowly. They just tell me they are eating for me too now. I'll really be glad when I have my first fill next week, I liked it better when i wasn't hungry all the time, that lasted for a week and a half after surgery. It's not that bad really, I just find myself trying to fit in all the water and still be able to eat. What really kills me is having to sip my water, at times I am so thirsty because of this heat i just want to gulp it all down at once. I know that we have to take it one day at a time...but like I keep telling myself...It's so worth all of this if I'm healthier and get to live one day longer.:nervous

First of all, I am really glad that the soreness has gone away. I was banded on May 10, and I just went back to work last Thursday. It took almost that long for me to be able to wear a bra because of the pain I had under my right breast from the muscle being sore. I have been doing well with eating, I haven’t had any problems with eating anything, as a matter of fact, I don’t even eat until I’m full because I don’t want to “PB” and I get tired of chewing! I will admit that I didn’t think I was ready to go out and eat in public. I attended a graduation two weeks ago, and of course when we celebrate anything we celebrate with food, so the decided to go out and eat Chinese food. I had already turned down a lunch date with a friend a couple of days before, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to go. Well I went after all, when we got to the restaurant I just ordered my food to go and ate from the container. Just as I expected there were a million and one questions, but I had no problem answering them. I just don’t want to have to explain myself all the time. This had proven to be an interesting experience and my roommate keeps saying “and you knew all this before you did it”. I never said it would be easy…but I’m willing to see it through!:nervous

    May 2006 Band Crew

I know I haven't posted anything lately but everything has been going ok. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem...I was banded on May 10th in Houston, TX by Dr. Spivak and I wasn't able to wear a bra for about 2 1/2 weeks, the muscle my port is sewn to was so sore and it acually hurt to try to wear one. I recently went back to work last week. I know that everyone is different, but you hear everyone saying how they went back to work within days. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?
