    Almost ready . . .

Depind~ I am so happy that things are working out for you! That is so exciting. Good luck!
  5. personally I and only 12 days post op and I am eating mac & cheese (well cooked) mashed potatoes, rice with ranch in it, soups, smoothies, cottage cheese, cream of wheat. I began to get sick of always being hungry and after eating something with substance (rice, cream of wheat, potatoes) I could eat five or six bite and be satisfied until my next meal. My doc says that is a no no but only because it is so important that I not throw up. So I decided I will continue to eat what I am eating and just listen to my stomach no matter how good it is.

    I don't get it

I have heard that if your are filled correctly you should not be feeling hungry after your four oz. of food. I have not been filled yet but I think that makes sense. My advice would be to call your doc and tell them that you are still extremly hungry after your fill and see what they say. My doc told me if I am feeling like I am eating too much and always hungry to call and they will up the fill. Try that and see how it works out for you. Let me know so I know what to look forward to.

I just wanted to remind you that when you have your first fill your doc makes adjustments according to how you feel food goes down. They may not even need to put anything in there at all, but right now you are still swollen and there will be an end I promise. Just hang in there! I went through the same thing but mostly only the first day and the evenings for the first 3-4 days. I kept asking myself why did I do this? Then everydau I am confronted with yet another reason as to why I did this and it makes me realize that despite the aches and pain I would never go back. Good Luck and I hope you both start feeling better about this decision soon.

    Almost ready . . .

Well its not easy for everyone to just exercise and change your eating habits when that is all you have known. Tell yourhusband by no means is this the "easy way out". There are aches and pains and risks but all the lap band does is gives you a leg up when learning how to eat again. There is nothing more difficult then making such a serious life changing decision without the support of your spouse, but it is necessary for you to be healthy and I say you need to put yourself first and then your husband. Good luck!

    Smoking after being banded

Thank you for your honesty I was beginning to believe I was the only person who smokes who has been banded. While I do plan on quitting I just honestly do not think that right now is the best time for me to try it, with the loss of food and then to try and add ciggs to the equation I feel like I would lose my darn head. I did not have to see a dietian like others so my food coping skills (or lack thereof) are coming from my desire to lose weight, and giving up my love for food is hard enough right now. One step at a time. Thanks again Pbody!:cursing:

    Alcohol after surgery

That was a bit rough don't you think? I personally am not willing to test the waters but you know your body better then anyone. Though I couldn't because the idea of throwing up right now scares me. Let me know what you opt. to do and how it works out for you.

    Almost ready . . .

You know I have to say that it is worth it. The aches and pains are only temp. and the long term effects are so worth it. My husband seems to be skeptical but I am newly banded and have lost 12 lbs in 10 days and he is starting to already realize that I WILL do this with or without his support. Some might say that your hubby is scared of change but after he sees a whole new you and the way your demeanor will change he should be on board and if hes not... Well if he loves you he will be. You just stick with it and keep on moving forward and it WILL be worth it. (even the aches and pains)
  12. In regard to your first question I would have to tell you that everyone is different. For me I was up cleaning and at my sons soccergame the next day. Shopping too but not for too long though. One thing you will not be able to do is bend over. I personally have never been to a Pampered Chef event so I do not know what they do but I would say there will be little to no bending. As for the weightloss tickers just click on mine it will take you to the website follow the directions and to put it on there just use the bbcode for bulletins. Good luck.

Newbie in IN with a question

another thing ... Tricare only wants you to have a BMI greater than 45 I think that # is correct. Any health issue do help them to make the deciding factor but BMI is the biggest for them. Call them they will tell you all of their requirements.

Erin- Tricare does cover all of the cost so I would do that. I only had to pay $100 for admin fees and that was it. Look into it, it will be the best thing you can do for yourself. Good luck!

    Newly Banded

Micoak- Don't worry we all have felt that way. I was so nervous when I found out because they only gave me a weeks notice and I felt ill-prepared going into the surgery. Don't worry this is such a common procedure the doc could more than likely do it with their eyes closed(hopefully not though). Also I did not have to go through the nutritionist for my insurance either and that scared me I felt like I really wasn't sure if I could actually succeed without the proper training but so far so good. You just hang in there and remember that it is all worth it. Good luck!
