  1. Happy 34th Birthday chefette!

  2. 3 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 3rd Anniversary chefette!

  3. Hi Tarabell, how are you doing? Diet going alright? What did your surgeon say about broth? I am a trained chef so if you need some ideas pre-op or post about how to make life bearable on liquids let me know. My favorite was canned or homemade chicken broth seasoned with slices of garlic, ginger, and a little soy sauce heated on the stove for about 15 minutes. (scoop out the ginger and garlic) Add thinly sliced scallions (green onions), and if you can have eggs scramble a couple in a bowl and let a thin stream fall into the Soup as you stir. It makes a great egg drop soup that is flavorful, no carb, and protein-full. (you can use egg whites only if you wish) Good luck!
  4. Good luck with your CrossFit endeavors! I just started CF Sparta in Lutz. Awesome.

    Any Cross Fitters out there??

I completed my first CrossFit workout yesterday. Thought I was going to die!!! I love tough workouts, but it kicked my butt thoroughly! I can't wait to gain the benefits of doing it regularly. I go to CF Sparta in Lutz, FL. Anyone else out there? If you live in the area let me know and we can cheer each other on and keep accountable.
  6. Hey Chefette!

Sorry it's been so long in responding, but things go crazy at the end of the year, school and finals and work and such.

Congrats on the 20lbs! I've only lost about another 5lbs, but I was really bad over the holidays. But it is a new year and time to get back on track!!

I'm going to call the weight loss center this week to schedule an appointment, and I will see if they have the calendar of support group meetings for this year ready.

I don't have a normal schedule at all!! LOL!! I work nights Fri-Sun from 7pm-7am, and work for a friend of mine 2 or 3 other nights out of the week, plus there is school. When do you go riding?

I am a talker too! It would be really great if we could get together or talk at some point and really support each other, I think I am at the point of really needing it.

Well, I hope you had a great New Year, and happy holidays; and I hope to hear from you soon. I promise, it won't be so long until I respond this time :-)

  7. Hi Chefette,

I sent you an email about being a workout/biking buddy in response to you post in the biking forum, not sure if you are still interested or not, but let me know, I live in Odessa off hwy 54 by the Suncoast trail.

    Hope things are well...Happy Holidays

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Looking for some cycling buddies in Tampa Bay, FL for riding on the Suncoast Trail and Starkey park, and anywhere else we can find! Send me a message if you're interested. Chefette
  9. Hi Neptune,

It's been over a week now and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm sleeping fine, and I hardly notice my incisions except when they itch!

Let me know about the support group. I might bring my mom too. She had the Lap Band in St. Pete with Dr. Renke, but it's been slow going.

I've lost just about 20 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. I started a little earlier than two weeks before just to get my body use to eating less. I need to jump start myself again with some fun exercise.

I'm going to start riding my bike on the trail along the Suncoast Pkwy. You probably have a normal schedule of 9-5, but if you are interested in joining me let me know. I like to go fast, but we can work up to that if you want.

I think supporting each other is the way to go. It's easy to get distracted and disheartened. Now we have a tool that we can use to be successful.

Sorry, I guess you can see I am a talker.... :). Talk to you soon Neptune!

    Spring Hill FL.

I was banded November 5 2008 and I live in Spring Hill, but I'm actually in Pasco County right off of SR 52. I've lost just about 20lbs since my pre-op diet started. I'm looking for those who would like to meet up for exercise, cooking classes, and general supportive efforts. I am a trained professional cook. I'd like to come up with some recipes for pre-op and post-op stages that are delicious and healthy. I was also banded in Tijuana by Dr. Corvala. If anyone has questions about my experiences I'd love to talk to you. It was a FIRST Class operation in Mexico and I was treated like a queen. Kisses to all, Chefette:biggrin:

  12. Hello! I haven't gone to a support group yet, they have one at my hospital though, and I would like to attend. It might be good to have someone to compete with! All of my friends that I know that have had it, have already had their plastic surgery for the skin removal, cause they had it done like 2 years ago.

My belly hurt for about 4 days, then I was fine, I wasn't able to sleep on my side though for about a month. I slept in the la-z-boy for awhile, that helped.

Keep in touch, and I will let you know when the next support group meeting is, I think they are on Thursdays here at University Community Hospital in Tampa (that's where I work and where I had my surgery).

Take care! And let me know how you are doing!

  13. I just wanted to say hello. I just returned from Tijuana on Friday. My tummy is still unsettled from the surgery. I live in the Hudson/Spring Hill area. Do you attend a support group locally? Great progress so far Neptune! Keep it up!!! You better watch it or I might catch up!! :)

    Hello FL Peeps

I'm back from Tijuana and feeling pretty good. I can't wait to heal up so I can start being more active and get this party started! Any other FL peeps in the Tampa Bay area? I want to get involved with a support group locally. Chefette

    Just had Lapband Surgery

Hi, I'm officially a BANDSTER!!! Banded Nov. 5. I just got back yesterday from San Diego. I had my band surgery at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana. The hospital was very clean and stylish. The care was better than I've ever experienced in the States! If anyone is considering Mexico you can contact me. I had Dr. Corvala as my surgeon. Kiss Kiss Chefette
