I feel for you. Though I haven't had three interviews anywhere, I DID have an interview on 7/6 (they even accommodated me since I went away just before the 4th) on the day I got back from being out of town. They were going to make a decision by the end of that week. That line has been stretched to a decision at the beginning of the following week... then a decision by the end of that week... then a decision by the end of the FOLLOWING week, and lastly a decision by last Friday. Here it is going into this Thursday and I called today and the agency contact doesn't know anything. There was even a comment I THINK I heard where she's trying to find out from them if they are still going to fill the position at all. I'm trying to make a decision to hold out OR start full classes at the end of August. I've already signed up, gotten my books, and done everything I need to be ready other than paying for the classes and parking permits. I love how they bring you in then waffle on whether they're even going to fill the position. All I want to know at this point is whether I'm even in the running. I can't even find THAT out.

Ebony, CONGRATS AGAIN!! I hope SOMEthing comes through for you. The "prior boss" you referred to whom you would be bumping into if you got this job, is this the boss you have now? I called the agency... again... only to be told they still don't know anything. I asked if there was a way to find out if I was even in the running. The girl said she has had a call and an e-mail in to them and no reply. I told her this was getting aggravating, that in the very near future I would simply be yanking my name from the pool if I don't hear anything since I have signed on for a full load of classes. She said she understood. Anyway, went and saw The Ugly Truth. It was... okay. However, it was like listening to two hours' worth of PknPottymouth. A bit risque and vulgar, even for me who is in no way a prude. I think I chuckled once. I'd say a C- to D+. Good thing I had a free ticket to see it cuz I'd be one ticked off somethin' if I had to pay full price. -

What a stupid, stupid cow. Frankly I'm sick and tired of all OUR freeloaders as well. No doubt we have our own stories like this here in our country too. -

Problem is, I would think (like in many places I've been) the hostilities that are fed and flamed in a place like that would spill over into the tamer boards. Not always, but if it did, it causes a lot of grief for the mods. However, I was shocked at the OH forums where their rants-and-raves style board is just that -- absolutely NO holds barred. I can give cussing a good run, but I was hearing words that even I had never heard before! I didn't stick around, though, so whether it spills out of that forum is not known to me. -

I think her 'tude is inbred. It's obviously indicative of how she was raised or WHERE she was raised. I about laughed at her bio where she said that at 5'9" and 324 pounds, she didn't look as bad as she thought. Erm... Frankly I don't understand how she can consistently cuss people out and not be banned. I mean, some of us get into personal squabbles, but she's taking it to a whole nuther level. Whassup with that?? -

Yeah, but is that while working full-time? Remember, I ain't workin'. But I won't lie, I am a bit worried. I don't know how much work this will turn into, and I don't like the unknown that well, especially since I am very anal about my grades and GPA. Good for you, and good luck!!! Not like the girls'. I heard him mention that he was either 300 pounds or nearly 300 pounds. But every time they showed one of the girls talking, they put her age, her height, and her weight. Tacky. Very tacky. WOG! LOVE IT! -
One particular person seems to be getting away with quite a lot. I can add the term thuggish to the fact that she's ghetto as well. And common. Those who don't have the brains to use adult words resort to name-calling and cussing. Obviously she wasn't raised right.

I learned the principal thing in first grade, the same way. Never heard the dessert one. That's a good way to teach the difference! Now if only they could teach the their/they're/there debacle, I could quit screaming at my computer screen. -

In Houston, where I was at, they were almost literally just grabbing warm bodies off the street to fill teaching positions. The jobs were not that great there, and they didn't pay that well, so good teachers were going elsewhere. My SIL works in the system and saw it firsthand. They probably figure if the person "teaching" is a live body and isn't hacking the kids to death with an axe, all is good. They were more concerned with filling seats and keeping the gang activity to a low rumble than whether a teacher could spell -- even an English teacher. -

I have a ticket for a free movie and am contemplating going to see The Ugly Truth. Anybody see it yet? I could use something funny, though I usually go for the more twisted. I've been in a funk since coming back from Houston, so maybe funny would be better. -

Well, in fairness to her, her empty nest syndrome includes her son being in harm's way. But yeah, mommy calling the recruiter? Erm... My best friend James (who died from cancer the fall before I moved to Virginia) was one of six boys. Before he was ever born, there was a sister. One night she went to the bathroom, and way back then they had the gas heaters on the walls, and her nightgown caught fire and she burned to death. At that time maybe they only had one other child, a son. They tried for years to have another girl, had six boys, then gave up. Very tragic, especially since when James died, his folks were still alive. -
This topic should have never been started. It was simply a way for somebody to usurp your authority when you closed down the other thread.

You're assuming principals care anymore. They don't. All they care about are making sure kids are warming seats because they get money for every day those kids are there. -

Yes, I know, and yes, I guess I am. Five classes. That IS do-able, isn't it?? For me it's not that the stats are off, it's the fact that they put them up there at all. They don't do it with the size 2s... only the fatties. I think it takes this type of show to a new low. I know I FEEL that way, but I put on a facade of being secure. Wasn't that somethin'?? Omg, both are HORRIBLE, but especially the one about the baby!! I don't know what to say... It's a pisser, ain't it? Have heard nothing either. It kinda ticks me off to be interviewed on the 6th, being told they will make a decision that week, and here we are nearly a month later. -

Okay, I admit I'm a spelling Nazi... I don't usually say things on message boards about people's spelling unless I can use it against some pinhead idiot who's acting all superior. Anyway, with that said, some years back I was taking court reporting. When you use a steno machine, it is all done phonetically with some letters represented by a series of letters combined (for instance, a simple J is four letters long). There is a K on there, so a word like "cat" is spelled on the machine as "kat." Then when transcribing from the paper notes, that is what you see. I can't tell you how many times some of us got caught with spelling errors where "cat" was spelled "kat." It'll mess with your head, I'm tellin' ya! -

Some of THE worst spelling I've seen comes from teachers. *sigh* When my daughter (who is now 22) hit 6th grade, the pinheads in her junior high decided that they were done with spelling tests. So she would come home each week with these papers that I found out were copied -- COPIED -- from the overhead projector as busy work. I don't even remember what they were for. Anyway, I kept noticing tons of spelling errors on them, but each paper had a check mark on them as if they were acceptable, and not any marks whatsoever delineating the misspellings. I sent a few of them back to the teacher with the misspellings circled in red and asked her in a note why these mistakes weren't at least being brought to my daughter's attention so that she could fix them or work on them (I had begun making my own spelling lists/tests out of words that were consistently misspelled). I said if SHE didn't correct this stuff as her English teacher, who would? She wrote me a short note explaining that the papers were simply busy work and they got credit for having done it with no consideration for HOW it was done. Her short note had about 4-5 misspellings in it. I circled each one in red, and sent back another note saying, "I now see what the problem is. Never mind." -
