This original thread had to do with fish. If you look at the first couple pages, people were talking about liking or not liking fish. Pretty funny when somebody comes out of nowhere and starts posting fish recipes. :sneaky:

I'm thinking a combination of preparing me for the worst and also because of what they see most often. At this point, to be honest, I don't know where specifically the mass is. The MRI tech said way more than she should have to begin with, but I don't know if it's in the brain itself, in the bone, or in the space between. Each probably requires different results, if any. I just know he's not very good about taking care of himself. My mom and I would always say he'd be the type to just drop dead one day. He has outlived any prior relative of his that we know of, by many years (his father died in his 50s, his mother when she was about 62 -- my dad will be 71 next month). I dunno, I just get a bad feeling about this... and it has nothing to do with the forewarning that it's likely cancer. I got it the second my mom told me.

Simply because they don't know anything. I'm sure my mom just had to say something to one of us, and I'm the oldest. Right now she's thinking it's very benign. I have been forewarned, however, to expect it not to be. I haven't told her that yet. Thank you.

For those who do, I need prayers sent up, please. My mom called tonight and said that my dad had an MRI on his head on Monday due to severe dizzy spells and memory loss. The MRI tech told him that she saw a mass on the left side of his head but was not able to truly read the results in order to know if it is solid or liquid. His doctor will be back in town at the end of the week (they hope). My folks were hoping all it is is a cyst he's had forever on the left side behind his ear, which hasn't come to the surface for years, had turned inward. I am finding out (but haven't shared with my mom) that it's more likely than not that it's cancer. We won't know until we know, but I've written my mom and told her to get recommendations and line up a neurosurgeon asap so that they'll have somebody his doctor can refer him to. I'm a bit numb right now, so I'll close. I'll let you know when I know something. Right now I'm the only sibling that has been told anything.

I would maybe check out the site somebody posted here a few posts up. It might help fill in the blanks. And for some reason, some doctors seem to believe that the band can't work for people who have to lose larger amounts of weight. Well, some of our very own bandsters here have proven them wrong.

Your "sweet spot" is where you have enough restriction to eat a lilttle but not so tight that it won't go through -- AND you're losing weight. Ta -- you were still technically in the healing stages. ANY weightloss during the first month or so is a bonus since the focus is not on losing weight but on the band healing properly. Hope that helps you fret less.

I think I was partially guilty of that, and I apologize. Though we have exchanged ideas and are very much on the same page in certain things, I have to admit that I don't know your story. Is it listed here somewhere so I can catch up? I have seen others here really shove their thoughts down the throats of others who are confused, and not saying that I thought you were doing that, but after reading EVERYthing from EVERYbody, I got a fuller understanding of why a certain procedure might be recommended, how each one has its differences that may work for or against the patient, and that sometimes I read more into what's being said than I should. I took it that the doctor and the psych and nutritionist were all just blankly saying bypass. I'm sure there's more to it (or at least I HOPE there is). All I hope is that the OP isn't even more confused and that maybe this thread armed her with some good questions to ask her doctor so that she can make the most informed decision she can for herself.
