Hi All, Has anyone out there with Chrons Disease gotten the lap band?? I don't think it will really interfere with the Chrons but I'm also concerned about the large piece of mesh I had to have put in because of the incisional hernia the Chrons surgery gave me. Do they go through your belly button at all, because mine is gone :-( Also I'm wondering how they would get through the mesh...Anyone have any ideas. I did make my consultation appt for October 9th but I'm just curious if anyone else out there had to deal with any of these issues. Thanks, Judy

Did you think you had sleep apnea?

You look amazing Maincat, Congratulations!!! -
Hi, My question is I am a 43 year old woman with high cholestrol, sleep apnea and a borderline diabetic. I need to lose 60 lbs and have tried all the diets out there. Am I a candidate for adjustable lap band surgery? Also can anyone out there recommend any doctors in Westchester County or Manhattan? Thanks in advance for your responses. Judy

Hi, This is a really good thread and I'm happy to be able to contruibute since so many of you have helped me already. I just had a sleep study on Tuesday of last week and if you have any indication that you might have sleep apnea I would suggest you get one done. It's not that horrible and it clears up any confusion if you do or don't. Although I haven't gotten my results back yet (takes 2-3 weeks) one of the main problems I am having is excessive sleepiness during the day. It's gotten so bad (in the past 3 weeks) that I've almost fallen asleep driving 3 times and I have fallen asleep at my desk several times. I can sleep (so called sleep) 8 to 10 hours per night and wake up like I haven't slept at all. If you do a search on sleep apnea you will find alot of info on symptoms but that is the worst one for me. Good Luck Judy -

Thank you Susan, do you ever take the band out entirely after you've lost all the weight your looking to use? -

Hi Ladies, Thank you so much for your responses. My other question is (and it's a crazy one) do you actually feel the band? I'm very freaked out about the concept of feeling the band in my stomach... Is it painfull to get a fill? Do you have to get a local or general anesthetic to get a fill? Thanks in advance, Judy
